I on the other hand live & work in Cushing and have no regrets for either, instead I count myself as blessed, as I have a neighbor, upon moving to Cushing July 2008, greeted me & my family with a warm handshake and some tomatoes from his garden, and then offered a helping hand w/the moving, should we need any help, we declined but appreciated such an offer, next the boy living on the other side of our newly acquired home proceeded to come over and introduce himself, and tell us the names of his brothers & sisters his parents names and their occupations, with great pride in his voice he announced his dad was a fireman, his mom a nurse, and his age was 13. I found all of this welcoming from neighbors in this little town of Cushing to be quite refreshing, not evil as this one-sided ignorant poll would suggest, I have lived in other towns, where I never new my neighbors, nor did they ever go out of their way to be known & be such amicable & hospitable...SO DON'T JUDGE THAT WHICH YOU ARE IGNORANT ABOUT !! The garden of eden wasn't on the super fund list.

If you read the post up above my statement, the poor misguided woman talks about a her neighbors garden. Gina don't they have words and thoughts in Sycamore, Kansas?

Misguided because she didn't buy some pariah from Texas hogwash? I thought it was a pretty good rebuttal and your one sentence drivel glanced right off the side of it.

The most disenchanting part of all of this is that the community of Cushing sees the evil, knows the evil, shakes hands with the evil and then talks about it and the shame of having it live within their community and then do NOTHING to change it. That is something I will never understand. This post is far and away the best, and it only gets better everytime I read it. Thanks

Maybe the term evil isn't apt, how about cursed.

A high cancer rate making death a cottage industry, city water barely making guidelines I wouldn't give to a dog, a corupt city goverment run by power mad insiders, a town of 9.000, yet a little over 400 people can determine a city election. The cancer crossroad of the world.

Even the toadies who run the town know its a cursed hellhole, so if one of their lackeys try to defend its honor or goodness they would pretty much give themselves away.

And for those who can only express your dim thoughts via the judgement icons, I can only say its best your doglike brain stays steeped in silence, your feeble words will only reinforce your lack of intellect and ability to see Cushing for what it really is.

Fred, thank you for the kuddos. In order to not be the cause of any comments about "people not living in Cushing" posting on this topic I feel it necessary to say that I do live in Cushing. As it was the first time I had posted on Topix and I was not required to submit any personal information my "location" did not show as "Cushing". I'll keep checking in.

Thank you for your insight. It sounds as though you lived there long enough to see the outright coruption and deception at the base of city goverment and the hopelessness of the common people.

Some real details Terrible Thing wrote: Cushing had 354,876.71 income from sales tax alone in 2008 (Ref tax.ok.gov ). Add in to that the income from utilities and a slice of the pie from subsidized businesses like the prison, fines from tickets and others and the seeming willingness of the population to pass bond issues (I STILL can't figure that one out as people are POOR here). OH wait a minute the city attorney gets 178,000 of that (The highest paid in Oklahoma) and the city manager gets 103,000 so there goes your yearly sales tax on just two city employees. YIKES! Oh well they can always pass another bond issue and tax the people more.

And folks its a perfect place to start a business or raise a family! LISA wrote: <quoted text>Cushing is a town out out of control with drugs! It's scary to raise our kids here and I would move if I could. I have lived here for many many years, Some years in the past we have had a few drug users or trouble makers but nothing compared to what is going on here now! This is not the same Cushing!

Just as long as I get Cushing boosting drunken tarts like yourselves upset I know I'm hitting a nerve. While your own personal hell is clearly shown in your "posts", they only reinforce the well known Cushing image.
