came across this site searching for the proposed nfl stadium in lynwood...anyways i'm currently in college and every time i go back home it seems like new businesses are being created...and not just liquor stores. i've seen the new schools and the new parks that have been built or are in the process of being built and I must say Lynwood does look like it's vastly improving...now we just have to figure out a way for parents to take responsibility for their kids and make sure they instill proper values in them...along with their teachers...and gangs are going to exist in any urban area and considering we have compton and watts as neighbors, getting rid of the gangs does not seem very likely...all we can do is try to reduce the numbers through programs that help students because many times their parents won't!!

I would have to say lynwood is really improving. All this bad talk about the city is from people who have once lived there or just stopped by, and have now moved away to their nice rich neighborhood. It's not the gangs or so called thugs giving the city a bad name. It's the parents lack of care for their own children and police corruption. As for the proposed football stadium, as a resident I would like to see that approved. It will take out a chunky of the city and elimate some violence and bring jobs to the residents. But then again people dont want to see their city improve, maybe because it's one of the only cities were you can still buy a house around 300K.

Finally someone is actually telling the truth about the ugly side of Lynwood. I mean I may not live in the best part of Lynwood but the part that they are proposing to take down is a little more violent. When I talk to friends who live over that way they talk about gang problems and things like that which I thought Lynwood was doing well on. What I worry about is the traffic I mean I have a hard time navigating around Plaza Mexico are finding a parking space how would it be with an entire stadium.

From whatI have seen here on the internet, seems like Lynwood has really changed. That is sad, because I remember it as being a really nice town to grow up in. Well it is not as good as before,, lots of graffitti but its still ok..

Fernando Pedroza wrote: <quoted text> Lynwood was once a thriving community for 1921 to the 1960's. The 105 freeway project split the city in half, many businesses and residents left. It was left stagnent for 30 years. In the 1980's the first african americans were elected to council. In the 1990's the first latinos were elected to council. I was elected in 2001. Since then we have built 3 new shopping centers, over 10 million dollars in new streets and alleys, 5 new schools and are planning to build 2 new parks, Lynwood meadows and Rose Park. We are currently building Ham Park on Atlantic Ave. The city of Lynwood is in renaissance mode, restructuring from within as well as our infracstructure and the quality of life has been improved. If you have any questions I will be happy to talk to you and share more information. Sincerely, Lynwood Councilmember Fernando Pedroza YEAH AND NOW YOU GUYS WANT TO BUILT A STAIDUM.I CANNOT UNDERSTAND YOU GUYS PEOPLE ELECTED YOU AND THIS WAT PEOPLE GET BACK ITS COOL AT LEAST MAKE A LIL THEME PARK OR A THEATHER WE PEOPLE SUPPORT THAT A THEME PARK MORE MONEY FOR THE CITY AND JOBS

Hey I think Building a stadium in Lynwood would bring many tourism to city near by.I mean I live in Compton and the ugly side of Compton is the side closed to Watts,Willowbrook and Lynwood. But what the city of Lynwood needs is a little Theme Park or Amusement Park this could bring money into the city.

Lynwood has rarely even been on the map, there is so much history that has already been erased. From the dairy era to the mostly Hispanic city it now is. so much history is getting erased, and the majority of people never got to know this great city. I think about the days at "Our House" spent drinking 40's and watching honest punk rock. its a shame to know that its been reduced to a pile of rubble and so many people never knew it.
