I love the groove shop! The owners are real nice. Alcohol brings out the demons in people while weed just calms a person. Is there so much evil going on in places where it has been legalized? I am in the process of getting my bachelor of science degree so you can't tell me that people who smoke are worthless and lazy. I have adult ADHD and extreme anxiety. If I hadn't of discovered pot I would have never went to college. It has changed my life and kept my mood stable. I hate seeing what alcohol does to people! They turn ugly and mean or slutty. It ruins relationships and kills people.

There was much more to the head shops leaving Carbondale. There were at least 3 maybe 4 shops in the Dale leading up to the City delivering a letter to them on a Friday saying all pipes and smoking devices had to be removed by the following Monday. I was there..I saw it happen.Many believe the actions came as a result of the manager or owner of the former Discount Den attending a City Council meeting and requesting a liquor license. They asked him about the 3 ft bongs and glass pipes he was selling. Within a few weeks all pipes, bongs, paper and everything beside the T-shirts and incense were gone. Not sure if it was a good or bad decision on the part of the city. We lost at least 3 local bussiness that paid taxes because of it. In my opinion Carbondale has fallen apart since then.

paraphanalia is only illegal if it has marijuana or another reaidue in it other than tobacco a clean un-used piece is not illegal

It's a great head shop with two very nice owners. Jen makes most the the pieces herself and they are some of the best quality you can get.

If u dont like the place...dont go there. Simple as that. Ive smoked pot for several years... never stole a thing in my life. I take care of my children. They would never go without so i can support my recreational activities. I hold a high position with a corporation that pays very well. Im a contributing member of society. Pot doesnt make you a bad person. Buyin a pipe doesnt make u a bad person. More ppl should learn moderation when it comes to recreational drug use. Doesnt mean your an addict, drugy, lowlife... if pot was so horrible it wouldnt be used for medicinal purposes to help depression or ptsd.I understand When harder drugs come into play...that is when ppl get out of control. Pot never hurt anyone...its just a weed. It will never go away and keeps getting closer and closer to legalization everyday. When we are able to get pot for medicinal purposes i think this nation will all be a hlbit more laid back. Lets focus on stopping crack use. Meth. Cocaine. Heroin....these are the drugs that kill people...make them lose their minds and act w/o a consience.

Why do most every head shop
give you a small bag of tobacco to transport with your new bong purchase?

My guess would be so it looks like your going home to smoke tobacco outta that baby! Their selling "tobacco products" so they give u a lil sample.

They do that to simply protect their own ass. Head shops across the country, and Illinois for sure, get raided on a regular basis. Springfield's head shops get raided about monthly to seize whatever new version of "k2" that's been released.

A completely unused pipe that is not found in conjunction with marijuana is not illegal. Common sense tells you this by the fact that there are thousands of head shops nationwide that legally sell pipes.

Also, note the language some stores use. They will say pipe instead of bowl, or water pipe instead of bong, etc. it is just a business method of protecting their own ass.

This thread is ridiculous. Anyone that spits out bullshit political and religious rhetoric to defend laws against the use of marihuana are obviously misinformed, ignorant, or choosing to be stupid. The unitedstatesof America has a documented history of misinforming the public about the effects of marijuana, and has consistently stuck to the same Reagan era rhetoric that was baseless to begin with. The outlawing of marijuana was originally rooted in racism, as was the case with most outlawed drugs.

Do any kind of research, or review any medical journal, and the consensus over marijuana is much different than the views politicized by our government.

All I ever hear from people is that " it is illegal" but no one ever looks into how or why it was made illegal. And by look into, I mean true research, and not simply quoting bullshit Internet links or blogs. Much of what is known about marijuanahas been discovered by non American scientists or private companies or researchers. The American government has never supported any types of honest marijuana research because it would greatly threaten the stances they have taken and stories they have told throughout the years regarding the effects of marijuana.

Most self report surveys show that many individuals do not consider marijuana to be any more of a "drug" than alcohol, caffeine, or cigarettes. In other words, they do not even classify it with the usual " hard" drugs that do and are having dramatic impacts on society.

To all the bible thumpers, ignorant republicans, and stupid demo that may oppose marijuanadecriminalization and legalization, please do evry1 a favor and boost your iq by doing some real research and coming up with an independent opinion. Tired of the same bullshit remarks based on nothing.
