Just one question for you Mr Ketterer? Did your children ever get a chance to read what the Pres said. In otherwords, published copies of his speeche were made available before and after it was made. Did you obtain a copy to have your children read?

I am a Dover resident. Why is that JUST creationism was to be taught. How about L Ron Hubbard, VanDonigan, Habb Joseph Smith, Mohamed,Dali Lama. These are different ideas about creation. What make you think that Adam and Eve are the only ones. Open your eyes people. We do not want Christianity taught on our tax dollar. If so, we better be able to teach every religion. Do the kids have time for that? It is the parent responsibility to teach whatever philosophy they believe. Not the Public Schools.

Did you just wake up from a long hibernation? That was all settled nearly four years ago. He was talking about Obama's speech, not Intelligent Design.

While I certainly agree that any parent has the right (indeed duty) to protect their children from influences they consider harmful, I'm concerned that so many parents seemed to find a message from the President of the United States "harmful" to their children. That's a very troubling concept, as it suggests a division that can ONLY grow wider over time. Dover's troubles with Intelligent Design stemmed from a handful of board members so cut off from mainstream discourse that they had no idea what evolution is or isn't (and they admitted as much in the trial that followed). In short their being "shielded" from an idea they considered dangerous, but knew nothing about, led them down a path that had dire financial consequences for the district they ostensibly represented. The fact that so many parents nationwide wanted to "shield" their kids from a message by a president they presumably disagree with smacks a lot of the same thinking behind Intelligent Design.

Whether you voted for him or not; the fact is that he is the president and deserves our respect-for the position if not the man-and what are we teaching our kids here? Every kid in america should have not only heard his speech-but they should have been encouraged by their parents to pay attention to what the leader of the country they live in says.patriotism is dying . there is no pride in being an american? we're the UNITED states. we ought to start acting like it.

Double Standards exist everywhere in America today, and DOVER! That feels so wrong for me! Nobel Peace Prize winer and all. Every kid should hear a message from their president, they are all his ultimate care for! If another court case arises, charge those who create it, not everyone who may agree or NOT agree with their stance! For the money Dover carries, the intelligence lacks, and that surprises me a heck of ALOT!

Hey marilyn, like Mr Brown said, this thread has nothing to do with the intelligent design case!
