"Democrats anxious about high unemployment have shifted gears and are poised to expand a stimulus provision that would quickly put $33 billion in the pockets of businesses.

The Senate on Wednesday approved a tax break that allows firms to carry back losses to get refunds on taxes paid over the past five years, and the House is expected to follow. The tax provision is packaged with a bill extending unemployment benefits."

It went up 4 points in the eight years Bush was in there. Its only up 2.2 since he left office. Synergy, you do realize the economy will get better in 3 years and unemployment will go down, don't you? Might wanna be careful about your uninformed predictions. Crack a history book for a change.

It was 8% when Bush left office. Do you want me to pass the pipe to you? It'll go good with that Limbaugh Koolaid you been drinkin'. Try to read a little more and have some facts ready next time.

It's over 10%. Obama said that wouldn't happen. You do realize that he said whatever you wanted to hear just to get elected? It doesn't matter what happened when Bush was in office. You keep reliving the past just to keep yourself assured that you didn't make a huge mistake. Who would have expected the umemployment to get so high? This economy is unpredictable because people have lost their trust in the government. Here is my prediction: Some Dems are going to be out on the street come election time. BTW, I'm sure I've cracked more books in a week than you have in a year. I read various materials as opposed to your slurping up loony-left politics.

Last time unemployment was this high was when Reagan was president and we all know what a failure his administration turned out to be. Obama will probably follow the same pattern.

I hope this a sarcastic comment considering how the economy turned around during the Reagan years.

Yep, score 1 for figuring it out and making my point perfectly. Reagan dealt with a similar economic situation early in his presidency and now he is the hero of the right.

People who think that the current economic situation is a good predictor of the long-term success of Obama's presidency are as sorely mistaken as the Democrats were about Reagan in 1982.

The problem with that analogy is that the Obama administration is doing the opposite of the Reagan administration in terms of fixing the problem. Reagan cut spending and taxes. Obama is skyrocketing spending and he will eventually raise taxes. The situations are similar, the solutions are not. One worked, one won't.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Virgo

You're struggling to get everything finished in time today, making you feel fractious and tired. At some point you may have to take a pragmatic decision about which tasks must be completed today and which will have to be postponed until another day. Do your best to keep things in proportion otherwise you'll waste time in trivial details and needless nit-picking.
