This isn't about a quarter.
This is about your mother holding your allowance hostage until you clean the dirty socks off the floor and wipe the pee off of your toilet seat.
The quarter is an ingenious idea. Not because it keeps the parking lot clean or causes less issues for the company with insurance costs. It's absolutely brilliant because the average American cannot stand that someone else has their quarter. They HAVE to push that shopping cart back to corral to get their quarter back and that just chaps their butt. Much like a child who HAS to pick his socks up off of the floor and wipe the pee off of the toilet seat to get his 5 bucks allowance this week.
People who pick up their socks and wipe the pee off of the toilet seat (or put shopping carts back where they go) don't complain about these things.
People who shove socks under the bed (or shopping carts beside their cars to keep someone from parking in the next parking spot) complain about these things.
Oh my goodness, they're holding my quarter hostage until I do the adult thing and put up my shopping cart. How DARE they?
:) hahahahaha!!!!:)

L_E_Terrell wrote: <quoted text> Can you imagine how nice and clean the restrooms at restaurants and department stores(Walmart!!)would be if you had to pay a dollar deposit to use the facilities and didn't get your dollar back until you flushed the toilet and put your dirty sanitary napkins, paper towels and dirty diapers in the proper waste containers? You can bet it would be cleaner. HOW hard is it to talk your dirty refusse (sp?) to the trash bin on your way out for goodness sake.

I remember a time when you had to pay a dime to use a public toilet.

Do you get your 25 cent back if you return the buggy?

I wished we had to pay money to use the restroom at some of the places uptown then they might stay cleaner,

one thing about it, you no longer have runaway carts.Everybody must want the quarter back. All the little carts are lined up nice and neat.

That quarter isn't bc they don't trust u it's so they ain't gotta chase the carts and it also help them keep lower prices rather than having an employee stop their to put up a cart people are too lazy to put back!!! It was at aldi in Chicago also so it's not only save a lot doing it

I wish Wal-mart would start doing this. It would free up a lot of parking spaces. All of those lazy people would start walking a few feet to put the carts in the corral. Maybe then, Wal-mart would be willing to invest in some new carts.

An excellent idea. This is one of many systems that need to be put in place to make people do what a damn adult should be doing in the first damn place! I always, ALWAYS return my cart to the rack when I'm done. I would also like to see restaurants start implementing a policy of no children under say 5 years old allowed in since another issue people seem to have so much damn trouble with is when their child starts crying and screaming they wont take their kid outside! Cause really, I mean, there's nothing I love more than taking a lady on date to a nice place to hear a screambox the whole f@ckin time!

Hopeless in Douglas wrote: <quoted text> I would be the same way, but I could learn to always keep a couple of quarters on hand. Kind of like those folks who live near toll roads always have some change on hand. Since nobody around here is going to help you to the car with your groceries, I think it's a great idea, Harvey's included. that,s all you have to do is ask for help and they will be glad to take your groceries out to your car i was there today and they helped me take them out you got to treat people the way you won,t to be treated but ask in a nice way you don,t have to be ugly or be nasty to them they are a nice group of people at harvey,s by place to shop!!!!!!!!!!
