Has anyone heard about the Pre-K at schools being too full? Are they moving kids from schools if they have already been approved to go to a school outside their district (like if they live in Satilla and were approved to go East Side). Can they even do that?

It came from a cell phone. It was a live person not a recording which I also got from the BOE a few hours later.

OK so my child is on the waiting list for East Side and I live right down the road. Are you telling me that because you just simply want your child to go there that my child can not . I mean seriously. If you have room in your district and there is a waiting list for our district I see this as a big problem. I am by no means trying to be ugly but really now. If this is the case and Oh I promise I will be finding out Monday. Out of district children should come after the district children are all accounted for. Any school personnel on here who can clarify this for me?

None of that is true. ANY child from ANY school district can attend a school out of their district dependent upon two things: The parents must file (and be approved) of a transfer of districts. This paper must be filled out and approved EVERY school year or the child will be registered in whatever district they fall under normally. Secondly, the childs transfer is ONLY accepted if all of the in-district children have been assured a place within that district. I REALLY wish you people would stop posting this stuff. They CANNOT REMOVE YOUR CHILD FROM THEIR DISTRICT. They can however, send your child to a school WITHIN their district if you have requested a transfer and the school you asked to be transferred to is full of in-district children. Out-of-district requests are only fulfilled if there is room in the school and class level of the child being transferred.

If your childs school district is Satilla and the East Side pre-k classes are all fun, then your child can and will be sent to Satilla. If you had your child transferred districts - the paper they gave you to fill out (as well as the one they mailed you verifying approval of transfer) explains that the transfer of schools is ONLY accepted IF there is room for your child. If there is not room for your child, yes, they most certainly can send them to their assigned district.

FYI

yes if a school is overcrowded then a student can be sent back to his/her home school.
when did you register your kid? did you go to PreK registration on the set date?
after that date, people were allowed to apply for transfer if there was available slots.

No I didn't have custody of him then. He's a nephew and would have gone to Broxton however, I seriously doubt that his mother would have even sent him. So yes we were late. But at the same time if he could have gone and they say now that there is a waiting list. then I would be offended if he didn't get to go only because the kids from Satilla district were taking up all the spaces regardless. I'm by no means trying to be ugly but at the same time he needs it really bad.
