What a sad story.Especially if the part about the man harrasing his family is true. But as usually happens in Topix people are rushing to judgement before the facts come out.Lets all just pray for this little boy who has to grow up without his dad and hope he didn't see something that will scare him any more than he already will be bt losing his father.

Joey was a good friend and a warm and loving Dad, Jesse and Joey where together as much as was possible and both of them enjoyed every second of it. While my friend may have been overwhelmed by his instinct to protect his family, he was not ever crazy.
I do except that, as it turned out, Joey handled this in a way everyone will have something say about it, understand that he was always driven by his love, not anger.

the sad part is that the little boy had to be apart of all this going down, because and adult with him didnt make a better choice. Prayers do go out to the family, and I am sorry for your loss.

Sometimes it is hard to see clearly when you feel your family is in danger. Can't blame a man for defending his family.

Obviously speeding with a 5 year old in the car is a bad idea but I have a feeling there is a lot more to this story and untill we know the truth no one should speculate or pass judgement.

This was a very sad case, I know there is a lot more to the story that was has been reported hopefully all the truth will come out, we were at the scene, yes it has been a concern for the father to be driving so fast after the red jetta, but there must have been a good reason. So please don't be so quick to judge when you don't know all the facts.

If it had been an officer chasing someone, that someone would now be wanted for manslaughter. But because it was just a guy chasing the men who had just robbed him, and I do know this is a fact regardless of what the press stated, you all think it's somehow your turn to judge someone. So go for it. Judge away. Who cares anyway. Joey was one of the best and there isn't a damn thing any of you can say that will change that.
God bless you all, and keep you safe from the scum that bring out the worst in all of us.

Then why didn't he drop his son off - then go get this guy since he knew who it was as all of his friends seem to know who the guy is? No matter how the story comes out "Board Member" the guy took his son on a terrifing crazy trip that was uncalled for - he could have killed his son - so no matter what thought is in your head to make it seem ok for him to have the little boy in the car you don't make sense. what you should do - since he is a wonderful friend of yours is encourage your other friends that are in the same situation someday - to the kids at home. How tragic would it had been if the 5 year was killed? All for chasing a bully - Please - nothing anyone says will ever make sense out this buddy - friend or no friend. So let him chase the man alone - he and his son was not in any imediate danger since the man was chasing the guy the guy was away from him. He should have gone to the police- at that point - not travel down the road chasing the man - what if he had a gun -when he caught him? the father and son would have both been shot.

Oh Boy - Are we going to blame the person in the Red Car? The guy was 46 years old with a 5 year old in the car - speeding then crashing and had no seat belt on - who was the crazy one? I don't care who his wife is or what she does - Sounds as if her husband had some problems - Thank godness the little boy is ok - I wonder if this is the first time Daddy chased the man with the boy in the car? I some how doubt it - Driving the way he was driving is no less criminal than driving drunk.
You are an idiot. You have no idea what the circumstances were and I'd do the same thing to protect my family. The guy in the red car was an ex-employee who had just robbed his house. There was no premeditated chase here. He caught him robbing his house and instincively went after him. He is a hero in my eyes.

Listen up son -- He was going after a nut case that has been harrasing his family. Not maybe you want to tell the family you are sorry and that you will learn to think before shooting off.
We ALL don't make the best choices from time to time especially in heated situations like this. It is appalling to me that people can make any judgments at a time like this. A man has died here. This man is a husband, ason, a father, a brother, and uncle Joey to my children. These comments people are making should be kept to themselves. Let's make this forum about the celebration of Joe Ferrante's life and NOT about his split second decision that ended his life. Shame on any of you who continue this ugliness!!!I pray for the entire Ferrante Family and all friends who knew Joey. The world truly fell off its axis yesterday at 9:30a.m. He will be missed...

Joey was nice and always an upbeat person, besides a great Father and generous husband. He almost single handedly lifted a large bay window 30+ feet up a ladder on my Atlantic Beach house in 1988. Copper roof is still shiny. He did beautiful kitchens and bathrooms for years in VT. Months ago, all of his tools were stolen by the GC. Finding reliable workers has always been a chore, and they were paid well. All had social or beer problems, and lasted less than a year. As a Marine Tanker, really Ontos on E-Bay, Joey would have dealt effectively with a burglar, with or without a firearm. Multi-talented: played bass, exotic tile designs, even green pet boa's and a web site for years with Jesse. Always a safe, skilled driver as I’ve followed him many times on I-684 and 7, then onto to White River Junction. As good as they come.

The things you people are saying are terrible. I know his wife very well and i hope she doesn't get around to reading any of this garbage as it is very hurtful and rude. What do you people not understand? He lost his life, who cares about the wrong decisions he made? It can't be changed now even though i wish it could. You can't tell me you've never made a wrong decision that got you into trouble because no one is perfect. Before you go around judging other people when you don't know the story, make sure your own slate is clean. Rest in Peace Joey. From what i heard you were a wonderful man.

Yes he was and Lauren needs to be around supportive people like you and hear only positive things right now. She has her own judgments about his split second decision I'm sure and wish he hadn't made that choice. She lost her husband for goodness sake, Nicole, Sofia, and Jesse their daddy, and Long Island lost a great human being. PLEASE for the peace of this family if you don't have something positive to say...don't post. My heart is breaking for this family.

Would like to attend services for the family, but haven't seen an obit yet. Does anyone know if there have been any decisions about that yet?
Please, for all of you out there w/ an opinion, let it be. This man was a family man. With a beautiful, loving wife, and 3 amazing children who loved their daddy. Please, let them be at peace.
Thank you.
