Obviously not enough..there were 150 inmates to 1 guard in this situation..at this prison, there have been 4 stabbings in the last 13 months..2 of them fatal. The guards are just as dirty as the prisoners..throwing the warden into general population might wake him up.

i have been to this prison to visit. it amazes me what a visitor has to go through to get through the doors. cameras everywhere, drug dogs sniffing you out as you walk through the doors just to name a few. maybe they need to be more concerned about what goes on behind the walls. no cameras or protection where they need to be! the guards walk aroung like there god. i was there once and they couldn't even get there inmate head count right! someone needs to answer!!!!! a young life is gone. maybe a new job for the warden, like mopping the floors with the inmates blood!

so many unanswered questions. the ones who failed to do their jobs, the ones who committed such a brutal act. i find peace in knowing they have to sleep at night with this hanging over them, they have to look in the mirror, and they one day will meet their maker. find peace in knowing he is in a much better place then that god forsaken prison. MY SON JAMES was a beautiful person and has a beautiful view, looking down on us now. GOD BLESS HIM!

have there been any changes inside the prison walls yet? or are they going to wait for another tragity to happen? how many families will have to suffer until changes are made? if something happened to the warden or a guard i'm sure it would be different. if i didn't do my job i'd be fired!!!!!! prisoners are humans and do have rights. they are not all bad, some just made poor choices. oh and by the way, there mission statement(to keep there inmates safe) what a joke!!!!!

i find it amazing that this poor family lost a child. a son, a brother, a grandson, a nephew, a fiance, a friend, a great person. we,ve all made mistakes in life, but to pay like this???? where is our justice system? you trust in authority figures and they let you down. this should not have happened to this KID!!!!!!!!!! the system failed him and his family. some people need to be held accountable, NOT just the murderers. alot of people have james blood on their hands, they have to live with it.

I grew up with James, and I dont care what experience you had with him--how dare you post that comment about him to his mother. I dont know who the hell you think you are, but only an EVIL, HORRIBLE person would write things such as those you wrote in this forum.

how could you ever say something like that ? james was my cousin and he WAS an amazing person. i don't think you realize how much he went through and pain he was carrying for his entire life which was not long. james had issues like depression, ADD, and so much more. he took his anger out on not just you, but most of all my godmother, his mother. if you have something to say and you don't know the real story please don't be afraid to email me. jpie29xo@aol.com this sickens me to think you could write something like that to james's mom who is never going to get over the fact her son was murdered when he wasn't even suppossed to be in the prison in the first place.

To the kid from Keyport New Jersey. You didn't know the true James. He had the biggest heart and just wanted to be loved by everyone. How dare you write what you did to my sister. What happened to James he did not deserve. He might have made some mistakes, but the bottom line is the entire system failed him. From his lawyer, hospital and prison system. Justice will be served by all who failed him.

you obviously have the wrong kid. my son was far from an evil, horrible person. its quite clear you didn't know him. no one knows james like i do. for you to write this to me after losing my son to a murderer you are the EVIL HORRIBLE PERSON that you claim james to be. you need to check out the post and courier guest book to see the true person james was and what people truly thought about him. shame on you and may GOD have pitty on such a shallow person. have the guts to contact me you coward. dianed43@yahoo.com i feel for you, you heartless human being.

Didn't they just have a murder committed six or seven months ago. I used to do prison visits there and the staff seemed really rude. They treated the visitors like we were scum! I'm glad my friend finally got out of there! May the Lord bless you Ms Dilorenzo

Our previous governer, Jeb Bush, cleaned up Florida prisons. Until he got involved the corruption was unbelievable. The saying goes "the speed of the leader is the speed of the gang". The man who was the state superintendant, James Crosby, had been promoted to that position from being a warden at the institution where Frank Valdez was brutally murdered by six burly, bubba guards. Because of Jeb, Many changes have been made and life is a little better for Florida inmates. Prior to Jeb getting involved inmates lived in fear of their lives daily. Not only fear of other inmates but from corrupt correction officers who set them up.
Check out the story of Jimmy Quigley, a Florida inmate who for fear of his life, asked to be moved out of state. He was sent to Vermont. A corrupt warden there kept Jimmy in isolation for six weeks - totally against the law. Jimmy, a very strong person, snapped & hung himself. His mother sued and won. The warden isn't a warden anymore. Big deal!! She should be behind bars.
The moral of this story is - for every thing a CO does that you see as "corrupt" or degrading to the inmates or their families, do not complain to prison officials. Go straight to your politicians, your governor. Put it in writing. They do listen. Make multiple copies and send a copy to every politician in your state. Surely one who is not on the lam and who cares will pay attention. Wear them down until they listen and act.

Daily Horoscope for June 3

Gemini

Do a little lateral thinking today and it will work wonders. Don't feel hidebound because you're supposed to do things in a certain way, because this is a great opportunity to try a different approach for a change. Even so, you may have to play down your unorthodox technique when talking to anyone who sticks rigidly to convention.
