1. Don't look at averages but medians. Better yet to compare students in different states, use QQ plots.

2. SAT scores probably cannot be compared over substantial stretches of time, because of the renorming game.

3. To compare scores across states, ou have to regress state scores on the percentage of high school seniors taking the test. The smaller the percentage, the higher the expected score. You then compare states using the residuals from this regression.

4. Personally, I believe that sitting some sort of multiple choice exam of basic language and quant skills should be a graduation requirement. The SAT should satisfy this requirement, but I think there should be an easier option for the unambitious.

I firmly believe that at very least, 1 out of 5 or 6 USA adults is functionally illiterate, and can't figure more than sums.

Here's my numeracy challenge. In continental Europe, gas mileage is advertised as so many liters required to drive 100kim. If a car needs 10 liters per 100km, what is the equivalent miles per gallon?

I used to listen to his show all the time before I actually spoke with people who showed me how the group actually works.

It's very similar to building a building oddly enough.... They spread information & misinformation with the goal of planting into your head the idea that they are "ALL POWERFUL" masterminds of society.

Once that thought is planted, it becomes the blueprint for their agenda. If you repeat something enough times, it becomes real for people.... and the more people who buy into their fear, the more they can control the outcome.

I too believe that God gives us free will.... But as a Religious man myself, I have to say this: Doesn't God already know what the outcome is?... And if he does, what does that do to "free will" ???

Actually no bid contracts happen all the time in govt,if the govt only finds one company that can do the job that they have described. Halliburton got many no bid contracts because there was no other company that had the resources to do what needed to get done. Let me ask you a question. Do you think that the services that ACORN has provided to the govt,went out to bid? Well according to the STYMIE-US bill Acorn was mentioned by name and amounts granted.Now I'm sure that ACORN isn't the only organization that does what they do. So why did they get all that money?

First off if my money went to the auto industry it apparently didn't help. Obama had to bail them out. But the auto industry does provide jobs for many . The same with the oil industry. I take from your comment that you feel that soldiers families should get no compensation. I do. You know the auto industry and the oil industry have done a lot for this country, they have freed us from the horse and buggy, they have provided countless good jobs. Calvin Coolidge once said and it is true today " Large profits mean large payrolls" and the reverse is true also. Obama, you, and Michael Moron all demonize profits and capitalism. No wonder there are no jobs. What business owner in his right mind would invest now, because he risks losing his investment to a government that will take it and give it to someone else.
