Diaz - you sorry bastard. YOU WILL BE VOTED OUT!

Irwin, don't take that tone with us. You are trying sell a piece of crap for that kind of money when there isn't any money to go around? For Columbus? NO.

Shut up. Get out! Thank you John Sutherland for shoving these pieces of immoral crap down the sewage line.

Donna - you are disgusting.

Clearly the first step in a process to clean up a questionable contract... It's a new day and a new way for Luna County management.

It appears that county officials want contracts to be ethical and this is the first step in a process to bring questionable practices public.

"Innovative" is clearly the right term for what is happening now. Certainly Mr. Irwin may be an innocent party when he signed the contract in good faith, however the citizens need officials to "move forward" to clarify the matter.

How long had the farm been listed For Sale...Or was this a Private Deal?

I just wonder how a deal, struck and paid for over a year ago, can be reversed.

It seems that they want to punish the sellers for the mistakes or malfeasance of the previous commission.

My personal opinion is that the county wanted a piece of the pie. The city had been buying water rights like crazy and paying more than what was paid to the Irwins and some of those deals didn't even include the land. Maybe they thought they were getting a bargain.

Did this sale go through Escrow? Title insurance is there to protect the purchaser (County) which would mean the research should have discovered something amiss.

Looks like the County might be able to recover the money...if there was Title Insurance on the transaction.

is the county doing this because it's the right thing to do, or is it because it became public knowledge? Watch close as this story unfolds, you may be surprised.

Title insurance just guarantees that the seller actually owns the land and has the right to transfer the titlt of that land to the buyer.

I'm not a lawyer but I'm pretty sure that the only way that this sale could be rescinded would be by lawsuit and they'd have to prove a fraudulent sale.

They would have to prove that there was some limitation on the property and that the sellers knew about it beforehand and hid it from the buyer.

"Buyer beware" isn't an adage for no reason. When one is buying property one's lending institution usually requires an appraisal and often an inspection, if all is well or the buyer and his lender are satisfied, the property changes hands and all the problems belong to the owner. The time to figure out whether you really want the property is obviously BEFORE you buy it.

This County Commission inherited the decisions of previous decisions and they might not like it but you can't put spilled milk back in the glass.

Don't defend this. It's disgraceful. Why would anybody defend these horrible people, the Irwins. They are the problem. Some kind of fraud allegedly occurred and now you think it should be swept under the rug because "its after the fact?" No. No. Despicable.

How come Scott Vinson's name is not smeared all over the paper? He is the one who made the bad deal -- spending OUR money as if it were his own. He is the won who purchased the land withough commission approval, without a need or a 40-year water plan or a water bond or adequate testing, and beyond his statutory authority. He should be held criminally responsible.

Sounds to me like this ordeal has a bit of vengeance in it. Would any of this have come up if there had not been a big blow up between Beckey Allen, her family members, and Scott Vinson. Grow up people, you elected those commissioners and they hold regular public meetings. Why is it that no one gets involved and attends county meetings until they get wind of something that someone says is not right? Pay attention people!!!!!

The County should not expect the sellers to accept a reversal on this sale, nor should they be asked to. They had something to sell and the county felt a need to buy, end of story. The property was on the market before the county showed any interest in it.

I'd just like to know what evidence you have that the Irwins are "horrible people"?

They sold property, for less than the going rate and they get blamed for some sort of moral crime?

We do expect our money back. We want an investigation and if guilty all parties involved will go to jail. Why are you defending disgraceful, unethical behavior? Do you have something vested in this perhaps?

Oh please. They do what's good for them and not their constituents. Donn is nothing but a piece of crap who should have had morals and hung it up before she started. Ask around, you'll find plenty of evidence. Just the same kind of evidence if you ask around about John Strand, it/thing Sam Baca, Torres, Patterson, Moore, McInturd, Silva...ask around and listen to what people say. This is a small town and people know what others have done.

Is it possible this Irwin Farm purchase is the reason a long-term, faithful and knowledgeable county employee..... who handled the Budget, was suddenly terminated by Vinson?

It was all very mysterious as to why he forced her to retire, had the hard-drive in her computer wiped clean, and refused an explanation to the Media as to why he acted so suddenly.

Is it possible this knowledgeable employee objected to the purchase by County Manager Vinson of the Irwin property?? And I seem to recall another staffer was also dismissed around the same time......

What role did Commission Chair Holdridge and Commissioner Allan, a Broker, have in this (hidden) transaction with Taxpayer funds?

No perfection here. But also still have a soul here. Sounds like you need to learn not to make excuses for people simply because you went to school with them or happen to know their cousin or some other equally stupid reason. This town needs business people with proven records to "take it over" so their can be jobs and growth, not more grants, and taxes.

I see. According to your logic the county is certainly shrinking fast due to the lack of business people with proven records...

...Oh wait, Luna County has actually shown an 8% growth in the resident population since the year 2000, and a 63% gain in paid employees over the past 8 years as well.(US Census Bureau)

So what's your real issue, Billy?
Are YOU unemployed?
Are YOU shrinking?
Did YOU get passed over for a grant?
Are YOU paying more taxes?

Or do YOU just have personal issues that should be dealt with in a more productive manner than getting online, making empty arguments for random generalized issues and stirring gossip about the morals of our elected officials?

No excuses, schoolmates, or acquainted cousins here. Simple facts, Slop Out. Simple facts.

The media has failed to ASK Columbus officials past or present, whether they really even need or want more water-rights for now......or in the future.

Oh wait, are we talking about GOVT.jobs? Are we talking about more waste down at the school? Show me where the private industry jobs are. Show me where a person can get a decent, good paying job here. The only place is via govt. No, I'm not unemployed. I dont apply for fake grants that steal from taxpayers. Yes, we pay a lot taxes for what we own in New Mexico. The "increase" in resident population is due to a.) illegals, b.) newcomers who leave after finding out what a joke this town is. What a laughing stock the hospital is. The town is crap, run by fools with not vision, no new ideas, no plans for creating private industry growth.

Finally, I pretty sure that more people agree with me than you. Do you work for the county? Are you a friend of the Ricky or Loan King Pastor Silva? Why are you lashing out? What is your problem? See, your previous post sounds stupid now doesn't it?

Tell us this oh Wise One of Luna, if everything is so great with this town, why have the townspeople been forced to create a Citizen's Grand Jury to investigate the filth running this town? Why? I thought everything was just peachy here.

A wise man once told me, "Don't argue with fools cause people from a distance can tell who is who."

Seems foolish to live in a place that you hate. If Deming is so bad why stay?

I'm done.
