Does anyone have anything good to say about the Mayor?

I was just reading all the posts and it seems that there are not many supporters of the new Mayor. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that has anything good to say about him or any changes he has made.

Unlike the old mayor? Excuse me but I believe the old mayor was resposible in getting the new Rite Aid built, new street lights down by Foodland, new sidewalks there too, main street had business' in almost every front (not now), the many grants the city received, so don't tell me it was a mess, it never looked better, can't say that today. |

The ex/mayor may have done those things but he and city council never did a damn thing to help small businesses in this town and if anything because of those city officials lack or out right coldness drove many stores and people out of here.

I think any new business coming in will not hurt us, it creates jobs, as for the 2 empty spots, I'm sure someone will fill it, they are good locations. I for one love the new sidewalks, alot of people walk this town for their health much more then using the aquatorium. Haven't heard of any new grants this new mayor and council are working on, unless its for the aquatorium, cause that's all Kepics wants. I can't believe people would complain about even the positive things the former mayor did, let's give him some credit, even if you are glad he's gone, he served this city, he no longer does let's move on. |

In my opinion as a former store owner in this town, the ex/mayor,city council, police and code enforcement was a hinderance to my stores growth for the most part and I see nothing has changed with the new administration! P.S the chamber of commerce was a joke.

Seeing that nobody has posted in the last 7 days or so, I guess we know the answer to the topic question. Nothing good.

I'm going to disagree with you. While two buildings may soon be vacant the Rite Aid by Foodland is not built on sound ground. They have been looking to get out of their lease there for quite awhile. Once there lease was up they were leaving. Maybe without this new store they would have left Mon City all together. I for one would not want to put any business in the current Rite Aid bldg by Foodland. It may eventually fall into the ground. As for the former Eckerd bldg? it is a sound building with 20+ parking spots. It's a good spot for a business to move into or if someone wants to do some investing it would make a great little restaurant. Lord knows Mon City could use a good restaurant. Aside from Lenzi's which closes too early we're left with Eat n Park or bar food and pizza. I believe that the new Rite Aid will be a good thing for Mon City regardless of who is responsibile for it happening. |

Dear Up The Creek, I would think that would have been Rite's Aid's choice to build a new bigger place-not the ex-mayor's. Is it not true that they wanted a drive-thru and they other spots could not fit one? Also, the 2 buidlings were due to a merger. Are u living under a rock in your "Up the Creek"? My goodness, u can not blame mayor cole for Eckard being bought out by Rite Aid!!! I am thinking he saw the potential to fill a spot where an old used car lot sat for many years. |

How was the City a mess in the past? I am really wanting to know how the City was a mess before? Also, what exactly is our new mayor doing? All I see are empty store fronts now. I never remember main street looking so bad. I just had a visitor come to Mon City that used to live here before and they were apalled at how bad everything looks. |

Dear raven, You must not forget the role of a Chamber. They should be the ones helping the local business people and they are not doing anything now or before with mayor cole. The Chamber should be working hand and hand with the city. There is no communication between the two. If you attend a chamber function, all you hear from anyone working with the chamber, is a bunch of complaining. It is sad, really. We need a better Chamber. |

I agree with u 100% on code enforcement. "T.G." hurts this city on a daily basis and she has been getting away with it for about 20 years. |

AMEN!!! |

The Chamber of Commerence in Mon City is below average at best. I see NOTHING positive that they do for Mon City. Most of the time they are so inept that they do not even post current or correct information on the reader board in front of PNC Bank.
Changes are LONG overdue. |

Yes, but it is us who needs to start those changes and soon before it's too late. |
