I stopped by the Mon City Firemens fair last night. The firemen have done a nice job in cleaning it up. They have hired police officers to be at the aquatorium all week long. It was actually nice. It felt like a real carnival. The food was great. Keep up the good work.

I am a huge supporter of our local fireman. I give them loads of support. I do have to say the fair is not what it used to be. Seems like lots of young kids running around causing trouble. I remember when the fireman's fair was just as nice if not nicer than the church fairs. Now, it is run down and seems to bring out the worst people. Maybe, something needs to be done next year to make it more about family and less about trashy people.

It was filled with strange people. I will not take my young children back. Watched alot of shakey dealings going on out in the open. Too many pot heads and drinkers there.

I totally agree with you there. It is supposed to a great event to take family to, yet all the low-brow trash shows up and ruins the atmosphere. I mean the firemen worked their hardest, yet all the garbage people ruined it for everyone.

Parents need to keep a lock on there teenage children; I was always down the carnival when i was a teenager and never did we have trouble like today, there were kids in middle school wanting to fight, and where are these gangs coming from, what is donora doing to break them up. Teenagers taling about shooting someone, or beating kids up. Where are these kids parents, something needs done alright, no teenagers allowed without adult supervision. It i acted like the kids do today; i would not be here my parents would have knocked my teeth down my throut. That's what wrong today; people my age think it's terrible to beat your kids; but we all turned out good, not today, Teenagers have to kill someone or badly hurt someone to get disaplined.

When i was a kid growing up in Mon City I remember that I could not wait until the Carnival came to town. I also remember how empty I felt on Sunday morning when you looked down in the parking lot and the only reminants left was a booth or two and the trailer that belong to the fireman.
As an adult I had moved away and missed the fair for nearly 20 years. Three of the past four years I once again attended and it was disappointing to say the least. This disappointment has nothing to do with the fireman. It has to do with walking thru the crowd and feeling like you need a shwoer when you're through.
Judgemental? Sure it is however it is also factual.
One of the above posts makes mention of where are the parents? How many young, inept knuckleheaded kids did you see pushing strollers with children not much older than 3? In 10-12 years these 3 year olds will be the ones at the fair causing issues while their parnets who will then be barely into their 30's and in some cases late 20's sit at home or on some bar and still won't have a clue.
The sad part, is that most of these kids don't have a chance unless somewhere in their family tree there is a grandparent or aunt or uncle who takes them under their wing and educates them on right and wrong and then holds them accountable.
I realize that all must change with time however it would be refreshing to see some positive changes. I would have loved to have seen the carnival that I remembered.
Here's one for our Government since they like to get involved in our lives so much. Make it a law that if your child gets into trouble and they are under 18 yrs of age the parent(s) will face the same charges that their kid will face. Now that would be interesting.
