ghost and haunted houses................

Is there any real ones out there. any stories to tell?

there's an old white house on lafayette, here in doniphan. Lots of activity, has been long as I've been here. I grew up there.

I know a person that is wanting someone to check out her ghosts. She has things that disappear then are replaced with other items. She has seen lights in her house that aren't there. Plus many other things. If you do research, post a ph no and I will give it to her.

Yes. The one that needs painting.

Years back it use to be apartments, we lived in the attic part, there was lots of activety."Seen cloudy shapes there". Not so nice of one's.

that is creepy that really scares me. I hope i don't come into contact with one!

now it is a 2 story family dwelling, my mother and i have lived here exactly a year the 4th of july. well...mom was a few days short of a year, she justed passed away july 1st, after a 3 year battle with cancer. the only thing she asked was, she be allowed to pass at home with me and her grandchildren by her side. needless to say momma wanted momma GOT!!! know this must sound crazy but there was such a peace that overcame everyone here that day, ive hoped that she is still here with me at least some of the time.

i havent really had any thing all that freaky happen as of yet.....but then again i havent spent hardly any time in the attic, either,guess i need to be looking into that one...

have seen movements out of the corner of my eyes, or i have THOUGHT it could been. but nothing too major.

come to think of it though, the nite my mom started her journey to heaven, her nurse and i both thought the other one of us was making alot of trips to the coffee pot but she was cat napping in the livingroom and i was with mom in her room, NEITHER of us had been up at all, even though we both heard movement through and in the kitchen.....

my four kids havent said anything about anything strange yet and im sure they would if they had an encouter of the freaky kind

if there is anybody out there with stories about this house i would like to hear about them PLEASE?!?!

I too have spent time in that house,I've also had some pretty weird encounter's!!!

i heard about the graveyards and a yellow 2 story house on pine. and also some trailer in town but do not know where at.

ok ghostie spill... if nothing else, im hoping momma will help keep the peace....

i can say the house has a welcoming fell to it and have YET to feel anything strange in the house, now the garage maybe another story, i always try to keep the door propped open when im in there, not an uncomfortable feeling, more like a just incase kind of feeling...

Which house is this one? There is one not far from the Colonial home that has been redone. Is that the one? Then there is another one a couple blocks or so from the court house. Which is it? Or is it another I can't remember?

Its the one closest to the colonial.

I have been told by a women who has lived here all of the life, that that house on lafayette used to be a funeral home. You should check the history. I thought the old funeral home was on walnut street, but she insisted that house was one once. hmmm

In the old days all homes had wakes, were people sat up with the dead.mybe thats what the women ment.

and yes at one time the town doctor owned this house and while him and the family lived upstairs, he practiced medicine downstairs and even used the livingroom for wakes and funerals for his patients. from what ive heard this was a common practice back in the day, along with keeping our dead at their home until they were taken to the graveyard by whatever means their families had at the time.

Doniphan Cemetery - There's a statue of a angel(one that is a women, not a child. The legend has it, if you go there at midnight on a full moon only, that the statue cries bloody tears. It sometimes last until 1 a.m. and during this "witching" hour, it's said that you can walk through the graveyard and hear faint voices of the dead. Some people have seen a white woman in the back of the cemetery coming out of the wall of one of the old crypts and walking along the row of headstones. She carries a white cat with no head and cries mournfully. Legend says that she was a lady that lived in the area in the 1920's. Her indoor cat ran outside and she ran after it. When she scooped her beloved cat up in her arms in the middle of the street, they were both ran over by a beer wagon.
