Navy Sailor Killed in Car Accident

My prayers for the families.

My heart and prayers go out to the family and friends of the the one that died... also for the others that were sent to the hopsitals , I pary you all will have a full and speedy recovery.

my heart goes out to the bureaved family and my prayer for survival of the other three persons go out.

I know some folks in trouble! No seat belts! I'm very sorry for the needless and senseless loss of a fellow sailor and shipmate (I'm retired Navy) but DOD regulations state that you will not hazard yourself and that means you wear a seat belt. When you sign your leave papers, there is a statement about seat belt use and about no hitchiking. Now a mourning family or whoever he designated may not get his SGLI (Life Insurance). What a shame.

The family will recieve the SGLI. The instructions for the SGLI do not state anything about not recieving the benefits du to not wearing a seatbelt.

I am the brother of the deceased and i just want to say thank you guys and girls who dont even know my brother but are praying for us. You are the ones that WE fight for in the military.(AF Veteran)We love you and we thank you all. The money is not that important to us at all of course we just wish we could have him back.

Mark Anthony Brown...You had to know him to know what it means to be a go-getter. The fire in his eyes, the spring in his steps...If believed it ...he was going to achieve it. He would not be stopped ...Yet he was loving and gentle to friends, family and loyal to those who didn't even deserve loyalty. The twinkle in is eyes, the wide smile and swagger gave confidence to team mates & discomfort to his oponents ...He was going to win and there was nothing you could do about it....Yes World!!!!....Though untimely...in only 22 years...Mark came ....he saw & he conquered. Yes pray for the family ....But don't be fooled...Mark Anthony Brown was a winner ...A man of Steel & Velvet...To God be the Glory!!!

i personally worked with mark anthony brown he was a great guy with lots of confindence and swager he always had smile on his face no matter the circumstances. his joyfullness and laughter will be missed. i just want to tell his family that i am deeply sorry for there great loss, my heart and prayers go out to yous. GOD BLESS and take care.

It calms my heart to know that my little brother is with our heavenly father watching, guiding and protecting us today. Yes, I miss him, but I know that he is in a better place. It also gives me peace to know that we will meet again someday.

I'm Mark's oldest brother. And like my brother wrote, money is not on our mind; therefore, it should not be on your mind either. I, respectfully, ask that you do not bring it up. We are grieving the loss of our brother.

Sumterite, I agree that this was a "needless and senseless" death. It is a tragic loss for my family and I. So much potential was wasted on Blue Jay Lane. My heart aches and my body yearns for an escape. But no matter my location, I am still confronted with the reality that my brother is gone. I will never see that smile or hear is boisterous laugh, or feel his firm but warm embrace. There is nothing that will ease my pain but time, or having my brother back. The latter is impossible, and the former can not come soon enough.

We have not received the accident report, but I can't help but wonder if there would be a need for these posts, if Mark had been wearing his seatbelt. We will never know.

We have to get in our heads that our choices have consequences. We are all accountable to stand up and do what we know to be right.

To the Brown Family,

My friend Matt (your old neighbor in south euclid) called me last night with this bad news. I never knew mark very well outside of playing a few pickup basketball games, but I gotta say that this is a huge loss. My prayers go out to the Brown family.

Mark was a brother to me. We grew up together and went through all of the crucial experiences that young men go through up through adulthood. Im sure nobody ever saw this coming, and the only thing that comforts me is that he is with our Lord Jesus Christ now. He is in a way better place than we are in now. The tragic accident has forced me to wake up again. As young adults we are coming into our own and many times we are so full of life that we feel invincible. The truth is we are strictly human and we are not promised additional chances in life. The brown's know I am family and Im here if anyone needs me. Mbizi we did it big through 22 yrs of living. I know God has his plans for you as he does for each of us. His plans are not to be questioned but I know that I am goin to see you again,and next time we wont have a time frame. May your soul rest in peace brotha, you are loved.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, his family and all who loved him. My son, Terry (USN Recruiter) spoke highly of Mark and how he had a bright future ahead of him. He called Terry recently about the "Lebron James" shoes he gave him and talked alot about him trying out for the US Navy basketball team. Terry always talked about how good of a basketball player Mark was.
Mark also told Terry how happy he was about making E-4 and how he loved his life in the Navy

I just wanted to say i'm sorry for your lost and God will surely take care of Brown. I knew Robert in the car crash my bestest friend in the world almost lost his life. i just want to say my prays are with you and the rest in the car crash. I didn't know Brown, but if (Robert) was hanging with him he had to be a great person.

He's not gone, he's just visiting a beautiful place called Heaven.One day you will see that twinkle in his eyes, that that brother, that bestfriend. He lives through you guys. His sprirt is held within each and everyone of your hearts. My bestfreind Robert Roundtree was in the car also, he didn't die, but i almost lost him. He means so much to me. Tree i love ou very much and i hope you get better soon.

To Mark's Family,we are so deeply sorrowed by your loss. We sit where you are sitting. My family loss my Neice Dionne,PFC Dionne Michelle McPherson on May 21,2000. Dionne was 20 and she was killed in an automobile accident not far from her base in route to work. My family and I will pray for your family always and we will certainly be at the services for Mark. We love you and wish you peace.

I have to say that Mark and my Daughter Ryanne attended Cedar Hill Christian School together and Mark's parents are former members of Community Baptist Church,where my brother and sister-in-law are members. Ryanne recently asked my sister in law about Mark. She told her she wanted to get intouch with Mark,because she had not seen him in so long. My sister-in-law called three days later with the news of Mark's passing. Ryanne is crushed and we are so so very sorry. We Love You All.

I was Mark's Recruiter and he taught me alot of things about life and why people should shoot for there dreams and do what there passionate about. I remember when Mark came up to my office and he got out of his car walked in and said that he wanted to join the Navy. I asked Mark " what do you want to do in the Navy and he said, "Hoop", my first thought was oh man here's another young man who thinks he can play basketball. He said " all i need is an opportunity". Now if you look at Mark he kinda looked like Lebron in a way. I almost believed how good he was by the way he was talking, but i had to put him to the test. I had a meeting with young men who joined the Navy up at Zelma George in Cleveland to play basketball. I had the #5 point guard in the state there, 2 college players one from Hiram and one from the Tri-C team, and also called in a 6'5" 250lb player . On the opening possession Mark took the ball and dunked it over the 6'5" man, that was about 5" inches taller than Mark. He had the most points, rebounds, blocks and steals that day. I was a "BELIEVER". The other 3 players were good, Mark Anthony Brown was GREAT! He is the best Basketball player i've ever known. When he joined the Navy everyone that came into the office that said they could play basketball i asked them if they knew Mark and at least 80% of them said, "he's nice", he's a beast", "he can hoop". Everyone knew him. He must have been the most famous non-famous person in Cleveland. When Mark got back from Bootcamp we stopped over my house to show him my sports room, i had a pair of the very first Lebron James shoes that were wine and white, that were waiting for Mark as a gift on his quest to help him do what he love's to do. Mark was the first person i ever put in the Navy that knew what he wanted to do without question. Mark taught me what the word "passion" meant and it has made me a better recruiter on helping young men and women figure out what they want to do. Mark i thank you for that and my heart goes out to you and your family, and i will continue to brag about you for as long as i live.
