I don't think anyone in PR now what a sidewalk is or the purpose of it. Or what hazard lights are for or even what a double solid yellow line means!!! O and get this people still drive through red lights!!! How the freak do these IDIOTS receive their license. Then there are the pedestrians walking across the street taking their time during a red light acting like their sh*t don't stink. And all the jay walkers!! Then it's leads to the Police enforce the laws buddy Yea it's kinda like what you get paid to do?? Politics are corrupt here all the Tolls yet the streets are horrific! Omg and the way people talk here so ghetto!! Use proper spanish instead of all that uneducated slang and stop dragging out your vowels it's whiny and annoying to hear PR's talk and O' yea tone it down I'm not a yard away were as you have to yell. I agree with the statement above and there is so much more to say but any PR who argues these facts just proves our points. Ignorace is contagious and it has spread rapidly on this Island.
Why on earth are you there? Leave immediately so you can stop complaining. Find your ideal location elsewhere.

Maybe this person "can't leave" for some sinister reason....

Sí yo sé que eres tú y que te cogieron el nombre. A mí también me pasó, pero tu forma de postear nadie te la puede plagiar, you're unique, man and I could tell it was you.

In fact, in one of the threads I started to badmouth you to get a couple of cheap fun and thrills at your expense; but it backfired.

You either chose to ignore it or haven't read it.

Remember, I can always tell what pisses you off, your reactions, arguments, etc.

Like when you posted about "nepotism" and I (purposely) disagreed...It was fun.

How are you?

Just came from a small tour thru a couple of mountain towns.

Depending from what part of Spain where the Spanish (prevalent in the Spanish colony-be that Méjico, Colombia, P.Rico/Cuba; Argentina, etc.) that's the local accent and pronunciation.
Ours, in P.Rico, was influenced (as in Cuba, Venezuela and the Dominican Rep.'s) be the Canary Isls.(which was the latest wave from Spain to these places).
Previous "waves" that influenced our Spanish (and its pronunciation) came, mainly, from Galicia and Andalucia.
In fact, my ancestors came from the mentioned three Spanish regions (Andalucia, Galicia and Canary Isls.) as well as from Valencia.
We have to remember that we were (along with Cuba and the Phillipines) the places which belonged to Spain, the longest.

Correct! that's why in an attempt to save PR, the king and queen granted land to many other europeans; corsican, irish, german, spanish, french, etc. This brought waves of people to PR in 19th Century. For an island that size, i think it's the most diverse of countries in Latin America.

Here's a video about the presence of Jews from Spain that came to PR.

That's right. Our historians have to study, in depth, the impact of the Real Cédula de Gracia of 1815; which opened our borders to most European nations. Spain, afraid that independent movts. might spread to P.Rico, opened its Borinquen colony to international commerce.

This commercial policy lasted until 1898, when the U.S. closed (yet again) our borders, to international commerce and immigration.

I have lived in Puerto Rico for over ten years and have been here on and of for over twenty-five. Most comments are correct about the drugs, crimes, political corruption and how easy it is to receive benifits from the states and PR. My wife and I both work and support four children and have to pay our own medical care because we make a living. I work two jobs and we pay cash for anything we purchase. We live a modest life and all saved is for our children. I hope some day the United States tells PR to care for themselves. In saying that we will still have to pay them for ten years to establish the country. If you really ask a Puerto Rican what he thinks about the US they will tell you we are a bunch of rich gringos and they will blood suck us as long as they can. Its all in the culture. My children can't wait to move and leave this island.

We don't have any slums. I think you were in the wrong island. Lay off the coke and cheap weed next time you post.

even with our problems, there's no other better place to live in latin america than puerto rico. many people here are "poor" by choice.
even the poorest have a roof over their head, cars, cable, utilities, and food. nobody goes hungry here.
GOD BLESS PUERTO RICO AND U.S.A.
