Mayor is a great guy. He has lived in Dolgeville all his life. Will take the time to listen to you and cares alot about the community.

Mayor Lyon is a great guy! He really cares about Dolgeville and the people who live here. Back in 2006 we had a flood that washed away an entire building, a street and destroyed a water line. We watched as the Mayor coordinated efforts with the DPW, Police Department, Water Dept, FEMA, SEMO and others to restore the damages to our community.

Bruce is a caring, thoughtful and careful Mayor. I second Xfacto and Resident in their assessment of Bruce as a Mayor. He has helped me with several issues I had when I first moved to town. He's approachable, listens well and helps when appropriate.

If the Mayor is such a great guy, why were people turned down a few years ago for the Restore-NY grant and it was given to the son's of the Mayor. Now I hear, they are in line for another grant.Sounds like nepotism to me.

Three groups participated in that first round of Restore Grants. Not just the Mayor's two sons. Go air your dirty family laundry elsewhere. NO ONE CARES.

Well... there you have it "new in town." It's always been a great place to live but the Williams family and the Lyon family are related. I don't think any of them are "scumbags" but I guess they just called themselves that too... strange. Anyway, it's true that there is a family fued that everyone else in the village is sick of hearing about. The good thing is that the mayor wasn't the cause of it and he remains a good and honest man. Hopefully time will heal both sides and they can move on.

I chose to purchase a home there. I'm just an observer who gets mighty sick and tired of family feuds bleeding all over. So if you are from the Williams family (and I am sure you are) keep your disgusting lies and family problems out of this forum.

Perhaps there are other concerned taxpayers & residents of Dolgeville that are intelligent enough to have figured out that there are some suspicious things going on in the Village and just maybe the writers aren't even the Williams', but maybe somebody has a guilty conscience. The fact that the building that received the last $140,000 in grant money was purchased just days before receiving the grant money might make a few eyebrows pop up....How about the fact it was purchased for $27,000 just a few days before that grant was received? How about why would the previous owners have sold it if they knew that kind of grant money was coming in?....How about the previous owners never filed for that grant?...How about that the Village Board decided to borrow the $430,000 that the 3 property owners would be receiving from RESTORE New York and have to bond it out, rather than doing what RESTORE suggested and having the individual owners take out the loans and then pay them off when they received the money back from New York?....How about the fact that the Village still does not have any money back from RESTORE because receipts, paperwork etc were not accounted for?...How about that Village taxpayers have already paid $35,000 in interest for this loan?...How about that none of the 3 buildings have been completed?...How about the fact that even though the majority of the Village Board members present voted against applying for the new RESTORE grants, at the next meeting, miraculously they had been convinced to vote in favor of it?...So, perhaps some people are not quite as squeaky clean and Mr. Personable as they may seem....because obviously it's the Village Taxpayers that are getting ripped off on this one. Every one of them. How many other village residents would like to get over $100,000 handed to them and not worry about the interest or penalties? How many other village residents could use that money to completely refurbish their homes, finish it in a timely manner, not 3 years later and just hand the bills to the Village? Not to worry...only in Dolgeville!

When will the bashing ever stop? It's always something...Jealousy will get you no where. If you didn't have Bruce and his family to complain about, you would be accusing someone else of all this wrong doing. Get a life.

I would like to think neither of these families are scumbags, but I guess even I am beginning to wonder how corrupt our little village is. I really didn't think there was bashing in Watchdog's comments or even a hint of jealousy, but more like eye openers. Perhaps Wow isn't a taxpayer here.

Go to Village Board meetings and ASK questions. This is your right as a citizen of the village. Don't rely on the stewnods in here to provide the incorrect answers.

This is a great village. You should attend Village Board meetings to see what is really happening and get your information from people who only have part of the story.

I am just curious. If that grant is not paid by the State, am I to understand that the loan for almost a half a million dollars will have to be paid for by the taxpayers of Dolgeville? How will we ever be able to do that? Does anyone realize what a serious situation this is? I don't know about anyone else in the Village, but I am scraping to pay my bills now. This frightens me!

Sorry, but grants don't work like that. If a grant is not used for what it was intended then your town is in deep S--t. just worry about paying your bills (Concerned citizen).
