No, in Fairfield they just don't care enough to change things. How can anyone be satisfied with the town the way it is? Lots of talk about dealing with crime and gangs but little is done. The useless DA has done more than the council in taking action.
We in Dixon unseated Bob Currey, a ten year bad old boy who was nothing more than a management puppet while also bringing in his buddies to work for the company. As for the school board, Shana Levine attempted to move up and the Peter principle confronted her. Alan Hodge was the only smart one in not attempting to further buffalo the public into believing his spot was worth preserving or continuing. Amy Proctor got the result that was warranted given the results that all three of them achieved, as if achievement is the correct word for negative performance. Herb (Double) Cross will bring old failed ideas from his days on the council. A parcel tax won't be long down the pike. Citizen of the Year? Maybe to those entrenched in the old downtown business associations and the Rotary. This small clique has run Dixon far too long and achieved relatively little. Herb will join the other hand wringer Jim Ernst, another school bureaucrat, and neither of them will suggest anything of substance to right the listing vessel of education in Dixon. Irina is a good choice as long as she continues to think and doesn't accept all the liberal nonsense they have been shoving down her throat at UC Davis. Coming from Russia, I would hope she has enough experience with socialism to recognize its ugly head and to then chop it off. We will see. Gildardo Pinon is much like John Gabby was when he joined the Board: young and inexperienced. All Gil has to do is keep an open mind and think. If he can speak up in the face of the flawed and phony solutions that Herb and Ernst will provide, he has a chance. However, even if they all work together, the State is crippling the system. Eventually the State will end up having to take over the District. If any of these people think the citizens of Dixon will give them a blank check to make up for State funding problems, or their own self created insolvency from paying more for union teachers than they could afford, they are dead wrong. |

Libertarian, you sem to hav all the answers to the ills of education...where are you when it comes time to be counted? Man up and walk the walk...you certainly have enough talk to sustain yourself...
