Unless it's in the middle of the road, most of the roadkill (wildlife included) in MI is no longer picked-up. No more $ available to do this. If they are evenly remotely rural - scavangers should have it taken care of by Spring. Strange about the head being taken. Sounds like a two-legged scavanger Yuck!

I'm not surprised. They want taxpayers to pay for disposal of something on their property. And if it's not technically on their property then let nature clean up after itself. The 'coons 'll come down from the trees and make a quick couple of nights of it.

Had they gotten to it soon enough, the meat would have been viable. Not sure, but, wouldn't it taste like lamb? Not trying to be funny here, but, I am sure SOME homeless shelter or something could have used the meat. What a waste.

They found it already dead, no one witnessed the death itself. Because of that the meat isn't considered viable.

In Colorado, if wildlife is hit on the roadway, sometimes you can request to keep the meat, if you don't want it, the DOW will take it & donate the meat to food banks. Also when they catch poachers with an animal, they will confiscate the meat for the same.
