I'm prayin' for this little guy. this is exactly why you NEVER leave your kids in the car, NEVER leave your keys in the car, and (don't know that this applies here) NEVER leave your car running.

This happens over and over. I feel for the family, and hope the little guy is OK. How many of these stories do we have to hear before people stop leaving a child in a running car at Quik Trip or the bank? I don't know if this car was running or if the keys were in it, but something made this car an easy target for a thug. We need everyone to stop being a target for these thugs! I hope and pray that this turns out of for everyone involved. Except the thief, he (or she) can rot in hell for all I care.

I pray and hope that the child is found safe. But what the heck is up with all those ignorant parents who leave their kids in the car while they go into the house, Quik Trip or anywhere else for that matter. Even if its for a minute. Thats enough time for a car to be stolen or a child. Take your kids with you.

Just what were you MOM doing in those apartments that you couldnt take your child with you? No telling how long he was out there unattended !!! 10mths old...pathetic! I wouldnt leave my DOG unattended in my car let alone my child ! So because you were DUMB..your kid is missing...WOW! Dont clean off the mantel for that Mom of the year award...I just pray he is okay...and you get what you deserve as well!

I thought I heard he was 4 years old on the news this morning, but this report says he's 2 years old. Either way, he's missing & I pray that he is found unharmed. You would hope that someone looking to steal a car wouldn't harm a child. You don't leave a child in the car, period. If he was napping or something like that, call the person inside to bring your 10 month old out to you. What are people thinking?

She was probably at her home, loading the kids up to go to work. Have you ever tried to strap two little kids in a car at once? I think the mother knows her kids, maybe the boy was overly hyper-active. What would you be saying if the kid ran into the street and got run over while his mom was strapping the baby in? A little kid has been kidnapped by some sick fuck, and all you're concerned about is putting the mom in jail? How does this help the situation? When are you people gonna stop blaming the parents every time some crazy person does something sick. There are sick people in this world, and even good parents are victims.

Although I agree that loading 2 kids into the car may be challenging, there is no excuse for leaving a child in a running car, period. I'm sorry, but if you have a consistent discipline and schedule of getting kids ready and out the door, there should be minimal issues. Don't get me wrong, I understand about overly hyper kids, there is just no excuse. I think you are wrong on this one.

First the person who stole the car needs to be arrested and it's not kidnapping because the idiot who stole the car didn't know their was a child in the backseat!! Secondly, the mother needs to be charged with child endangerment because this is proof that ANYTHING can happen at ANYTIME! Considering her 10 month old probably doesn't walk; she would have been holding him/her! The 2 year old could have easily held his mothers hand and walked to the car with her; she set the 10 month old in it's carseat, puts the 2 year old in his and buckles them both (probably the 10 month old first so he/she doesn't decide to fall out of the carseat then the 2 year old since he can follow directions a little more) and she's on her way!! It's REALLY not that hard! OR maybe the mother should answer who the hell was inside with the 10 month old??? If there was someone inside with the 10 month old, they could have carried the baby outside for her! There are so many things wrong with this story it's unbelieveable! It's not the parents fault her car was stolen but it is her fault her child was in the car by himself! A 2 year old could have unbuckled himself and ran in the street and got hit by a car!! No one is blaming the parent for her car being stolen, we are blaming her for being a freakin' idiot and leaving her child in the car! Isn't that breaking a law?? Everyone just needs to pray this child is OK and that the person who stole the car is in custody AND that the mother has learned a hard lesson!!

JAKE ROBEL people! His mother left him in the RUNNING CAR while going into a Subway, some dude stole the car and drug that boy- who was half hanging out of the car- down I-70 to his death. And Jake's mother was probably closer to her car than this woman was to hers.

It is illegal in MO to leave a child under the age of 11 or 12 or something like that in a car alone. I believe that law came about because of the Jake Robel incident.
I'm not sure about Kansas though.

Everyone just needs to pray this child is OK and that the person who stole the car is in custody AND that the mother has learned a hard lesson!! They live in apts, which usually involves stairs. The average two year old cannot safely walk down stairs. So, as a parent you have to balance the lesser of two evils. a 1/10 chance your boy will fall down the stairs vs. a 1/1,000,000 chance your kid gets kidnapped vs. a 1/100 chance you fall while trying to carry both of them down the stairs and everyone dies. I myself, can easily carry two kids down the stairs and to the car, but I'm a big guy. This is a lady we're talking about. I am aware this is a violation of the law, but the officers have enough common sense to decide on a case-by-case basis whether to charge. I do not condone leaving kids in the car at Quiktrip, or any public places. She shouldn't have left the keys in the car, but that doesn't make her a bad parent. It's easy for people to judge new parents with babies as bad parents, but what you don't realize is that your teenage daughter is sucking cock on the back of the school bus as we speak. Booyah

It is difficult to juggle the children and all of their stuff. Unfortunately, the worst happened in this case, which is what makes it so terrible. But most likely, the keys were available, or some punk wouldn't have stolen it so quickly. I understand the mother's problem, and she has definitely been punished enough, especially since the little guy is safe now.

A$$...looks like your the only one on here that sees no fault with the MOM...SO let me see...HELL yes I have loaded two kids in the car at once...9mths and 2yrs...and guess where they both were??? In my arms a##hole, along with the diaper bag, my lunch and briefcase! Its called multi tasking...most reasonable parents know all about this...sounds like you dont have a clue about it! Blaming the parents huh??? Well let me see who else should we blame...cause the truth is this...IF HE HAD NOT BEEN ALONE IN THE CAR HE WOULD NOT BE GONE FOOL! Maybe its the thieves fault they chose the wrong car...right? Maybe its the persons fault in the apartment for not helping the mom...right? Maybe its the polices fault for not locating him yet right? As a parent your only obligation is to protect your child from harm AT ALL COST! This kid was a sitting duck...waiting for something to happen...and guess what WIZARD...it did! Now its time for MOM to pay the piper for her idiotic actions...in the meantime...I THANK GOD...that you arent a mother to any children I know...its always SOMEONE elses fault that you as a parent made a DUMB choice...Go play in traffic please...and WHATEVER you do DONT MULTIPLY!

I agree it was wrong for the mom to leave the child but you know lots of parents do - if the childern are asleep you can't carry two sleeping babies- there isn't always some one to help. Bet she learned a hard scary lesson.

Booyah You are still wrong, in my opinion. I know lots of 2 year old's that are quite capable of walking down the stairs BY THEMSELVES. If nothing else, the mother has the 10 mo in her arms on one side & holding the 2 year old's hand with her other. Yes, may take a little more time to get down the stairs, but don't you think that is worth the time of not having your child taken, even if by "accident"? I wish they would just find the little boy safe already. I can only imagine how scared he must be with some stranger.

I am so happy that the baby boy was found safe! If that were my son, I would be an emotional wreck! Thank god at least the person whom stole the car had a conscience and left the boy safe! I am happy that the mom can finally breath now, knowing her baby boy is safe with her! However, as always, no matter if the person has 10 kids, DO NOT LEAVE a child of any age in a car or by themselves in public! As a 23yr old parent of a 3 yr old boy, I am very over-protective of my child!Just about everyday I think about all the danger in this world and how I can protect my child because a new day is always different, anything can happen! My son goes every where with me! Even if I forgot something from the house and we have to turn around, he gets out of the car with me! He is to never be left alone with anyone, any where! His father / babysitter / everyone in his life is the same way and is well aware if something happens to my son, the mama lion will attack and I dont care what the ending consequences are going to be! My son will be protected / loved / cared for, ect. no matter what. My Son dosent even go outside by himself with a fenced/locked yard! I dont think the mom should be punished because not knowing where her son was, was more than enough punishment! The anxiety, worrying, crying, praying to god that her baby was ok, and just the feeling of lost, is scary enough to remind a person of not to do the fault again!

It's a dangerous world, people. Unless you're prepared to keep a kid in your womb for 18 yrs, they will be exposed to danger. Everyone's heart bleeds when bad things happen, and then all the sudden want to make laws. There's a law for everything; how many times you have to feed them, how you need to educate them in "schools", how you can and can't punish them, where you can and can't leave them, I could go on with this BS all day. I got a better idea, lawmakers let the parents raise the kids, and law enforcement get the dangerous criminals off the street. It's easy for the cops to blame the parents, when the root of the problem is an inability to do their job.
