Have you noticed some of the Endeavor high rise homes listed as for sale..........looks like we might have alot of foreclosures around Clear Lake.

THIS is why I refused to look in the Seabrook, Clear Lake area. I hate high rise condos. I come from a coastal town and the high rises just ruins the views, atmosphere of a small town feeling.

I doubt they are selling like they want you to believe. I believe some were thinking they'd make a big profit when the housing bubble bust.

I have trouble believing that they have sold all of their units as they have said. It never looks lit up enough at nite to convince me of that. this is Clear Lake, not Miami Beach. And now with the economy, I seriously doubt that they will be able to build the other two any time soon.

I agree.....I go by the Endeavour a couple times a week and never see anyone coming or going into the garage. If the truth was known this is probably part of our 700 billion bailout.

Probably not finished with the building interior yet to see much activity. Not really sure where this project is at right now. I was one of the designers on this job hired by Insite Architecture.

Truth be known, this job has nothing to do a 700 billion bailout.~rolls eyes

True, housing market isn't so great right now. Some projects are on hold till after the elections. Some projects have died off.

We have finished several projects on Galveston Island to be forth-coming. May be another year or so, but they will begin construction. The developers have big plans for Galveston/Clear Lake area. Get ready!

Next big one we are working on is Beacon Island right on Clear Lake. Where the lighthouse is, the entire island is about to be developed with high-end homes and mid-rise multi-family dwellings. The conceptual drawings are stunning to say the least. No high rise planned for this job, so rest easy there. But make no mistake, Texas gulf coast is the last of affordable water front property in America. It will be developed into high end areas over the next several years.

Thanks for the information, interesting. I've lived around Clear Lake and Taylor Lake for over 40 years.....I hate to see it change to a Miami looking area.

Klugscheiber, do you still think these projects will proceed even after Ike? I know Beacon Island will because I just got a promo email from them. And although another high rise is not my thing, this area is going to need a boost to our economy. We need to hold onto our property value.

The Endeavor is selling the other properties where other high-rises were planned. With the housing and lending situations where they are I don't belive we'll see many high-rises popping up on Clear Lake. I'm not sure Endeavor is fully sold.

Beacon Island will not feature a high-rise, but rather single homes in the style of S.C.

Actually housing market is bust right now. Too many of these jobs are dying off or simply disappear. Don't hold your breath on Beacon Island either. It may eventually happen, but right now, the whole thing is a joke. They got the cart in front of the horse on this one. I'd be real surprised if something happened on Beacon Island and I think we are out of that one now. Alot of the new construction jobs were pending election results, well the results are in. I guess it's a wait and see game now.
And true, I'd hate to see the Texas Gulf Coast resemble anything like Miami. Of course I remember Kemah 30 years ago too.....

I'll test your memory.......can you tell me what business was located where the Hilton is today ? Hint - it was only there about a year when the Hilton Corp. purchased it, tore it down and built the current building.

Do you remember the "Kemah Clipper" ?

Vaguely remember the Kemah Clipper. I remember the name, not actually going. My grandmother had a house in Baycliff on the water. I visited on weekends and spent my summers there.(The Gays, Gay Pontiac, bought the house and both houses on either side.) I just remember we had to go to Kemah for a hardware store. There was nothing out there during the 70's. A few bait stands and a small store or two. No development anywhere around there like we see now. I can get lost out there now and don't recognize anything.
I went to Kemah boardwalk and wasn't impressed. Actually saddened me to see "mock-up" Old Town Spring thing they created. A mass of people and no parking for what? Overpriced curio stores and resturants?
I liked it better when nobody was around and you could park or go fishing anywhere around there. A small sleepy community with nothing going on but fishing and swimming. It's an over-rated mad house that's not for me. There's no real character or history, it's all manufactured.

In the early 70's I use to go fishing on the party boat called the Kemah Clipper. The dock was located where Joe's Crab Shack is today.
I believe it was $2.50 for a day fishing trip.

As for the Hilton - a "Bonanza" steakhouse was in the same location, but for only a very short time (maybe 12 - 18 months) before it was torn down and replaced by the Hilton we see today.

Kemah - today it's for tourist.....I'm not going to pay to park and spent $50 -$100 for dinner...

Wow...everyone loves a story, huh? Endeavour is actually 50% CLOSED---the other...oh 40% is SOLD, but not yet closed.(80 units total.) As you can imagine, the housing market has had an effect on some investors.

As for not "never seeing anyone driving or lights on," all of the living rooms in the tower FACE THE LAKE. The only lights you will see from Nasa, Red Bluff, or 146 are bedroom lights! ALso, over 60% of the closed units belong to out of town investors. Therefore, those living at the tower right now have most of the amenities to themselves :) No reserving the theater room, sauna, or resistance pool,+ the 24-hour staff at your beckon call...

Did you also believe the one about Matthew McConaughey living in the penthouse? Or the one about the building sinking 6 ft into Clear Lake? Or my favorite...it's leaning at a 30 degree angle? C'mon guys...get a life. Ask questions and get REAL ANSWERS before you spread ugly rumors!

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Leo

A loved one is being rather tetchy today. It won't take much to get on their nerves, even if you think they're being grossly unfair about it. Try not to make the situation worse by being sarcastic or provocative. Instead, encourage them to tell you what's wrong but without raising their voice. Once you know what you've done to irritate them you can start to put it right.
