Milton Township To Cover Craig Beach Fire Services

To clear up some rumors Craig Beach VFD is not out of business nor are we selling anything from our department. I think the news and papers need to get their facts stratight and get both sides of the story before they print or say something.

I have heard that the fire department is still operating but not for long. Why? We need a fire department in Craig Beach! Milton township has been slack in getting to places in the township(especially the rescue squad)and I have heard the fire department also. The people in Craig Beach need a fire department and a rescue squad. They have always done an amazing job both in Craig Beach and Milton. They are also very caring and concerned people. It seems the Council may be putting some of our lives on the line by the decisions they are making. Question to the council-How long are we going to have the fire department in Craig Beach?

I am in total agreement with both of the above comments. especially the comment about council , this by no means should exclude Mayor Larry Ellis, the lives of the residents are definetly at stake in an emergency situation. Our fire Department has always responded to any and every situation when they were needed in an outstanding and professional manner, and with care and compassion.... not arrogance and rudenes, as I was subjected to by the Milton Township Fire Chief when my house was on the verge of going up in flames on the evening of July 29, 2008 and Craig Beach VFD was not allowed to respond... God hel us....

I would like to say something.....I don't live in Ohio but I have been deeply touched by this whole Craig Beach vs. Milton Township VFD situation. I live in Bridgeville, Pa and I know there would be NO WAY our fire departments would WANT to take over another fire departments area. My next door neighbors house caught fire on 3-30,2007 ALL LOCAL departments which are ALL VOLUNTEER were here with in a matter of minutes, yes there were at least 4 or 5 departments from several miles away. Thank GOD no one lost their lives but the family cat FATBOY wasn't as lucky.
My husband has ALS (Lou Gehrigs). When we were told to evacuate our house without hesitation to their lives A FIRE DEPARTMENT from another town came into take my husband out saftly. If it wasn't for the QUICK RESPONCE of all local departments their surly would have been a greater disaster.
The reason why I'm writing this is because I'm complexed to the fact that Craig Beach was told not to respond to a fire that took place next to MY COUSINS home whom I love deeply on 7-29. My cousin has been a resident of Craig Beach for 57 years.
I have been there on several occasions when an EMERGENCY RESPONCE TEAM was needed for my Aunt who had life threating situations & Craig Beach responded in a matter of minutes with care & compation and genuine concern for her well being. Thank You CBVFD.
My ?'s to Mayor Larry Ellis & certin counsil members is why? Why was CB VFD not permitted to respond to the fire when they are only 1 1/2 to 2 blocks away!!

The people of Craig Beach ARE NOT SAFE IN THEIR HOMES!!!!!

A car and the houses were broken into in late December, when the Craig beach police were called, there was no answer. The caller called the Mahoning County Sheriff as instructed by the recording on the Craig Beach police answering machine.

The Mahoning County Sheriff dispatcher plainly stated, "WE DO NOT RESPOND TO CALLS FOR THE CRAIG BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT, YOU NEED TO CONTACT THEM THE NEXT TIME THEY ARE ON DUTY!"

As a member of the Firefighter Union and a Fire Departmet, having over 15 years in the military, and a law enforcement officer. The people of Graig Beach are in grave danger, not only their lives but property as well. Not renewing the contract with the Craig Beach Fire/Rescue which has firehouse with up to date apparatus and equipment in the middle of it's jurisdiction is outrages. The Graic Beach Fire/Rescue has some very well trained firefighters who live within Craig Beach. They can and have responded to scene and or the firehouse within seconds or minutes to serve those living within Craig Beach. They have and will always be ready to respond to assist other Fire Departments.
If you live in Craig Beach near the Firehouse and your house catches on fire or you need medical help and you look across the street at the Craig Beach Firehouse knowing they can't respond because the idiots that have been elected choose to put money, personnal fellings in front of their decision making instead of them doing what's best for the people of Craig Beach.
If and when something bad happens, bet your bottom dollar that those elected or picked to sit on the Craig Beach town council should be held liable. They should all be charged for crimes resulting in dealth, injury, property damage.
And the Chief of Milton Twp should also be charged for conspiracy crimes as well. The people of Craig Beach are being used as pawns in this corrupt political uproar within the council of Craig Beach. They deserve better.
The People of Craig Beach, Stand Up, fight for your Fire/Rescue Department that has always been there for you and will continue to be there for you and all surronding areas. May God watch over you and protect you today and everyday.

This month (June, 2009) a house fire occurred in sight of Craig Beach Fire Dept. Milton Twp. could not send units and DID NOT CALL Craig Beach. Craig Beach council should look into the safety of their citizens. If it were there house, would they want Newton Falls, North Jackson, Ellsworth, etc. called or would they want help immediatly?? When the insurance companies find out that the closest fire department is miles away EVERYONE'S rates will go up--including council members. Wise up before someone gets killed. It will be on your heads including Craig Beach Councel and Milton FD Chief.
