Hey! It could have been way far worse! Jesus could have told us that no more than 144,000 people will ever make it into Heaven (a reference related to Revelation Chapter 14). He could have told us that Heaven only has room for 144,000 souls maximum, and that the rest of humankind would be thrown into Hell! And He could have even told us that the 144,000 who would make it to Heaven were the top 144,000 best behaved, poorest, and shortest lived people. And He could have even told us that once the 144,000th soul entered Heaven that the Holy Spirit would have abandoned the Earth permanently. Heck, He could have even told us that the instant the 144,000th soul entered Heaven, that the remaining human population, all of it, and perhaps even the entire Earth itself, would get instantly raptured to Hell.
Even more, still, Noah could have chosen not to build the ark. When God told Noah that he and his family would be spared and to build the ark, Noah could have easily said; "Lord, we have failed in your favor to replace the enemy as Earth's ruler, sin has entered this Earth through Adam and Eve Even though we are righteous, we have sinned against you as well, and we therefore shall accept your punishment and drown in the flood. It is your job, and your duty, to wipe man's evil nature from the world."
Luckily for everyone, and that means you, Captain Church, Jesus never said that no more than 144,000 souls would enter Heaven and the rest would get thrown into Hell. Also, Noah went ahead and built the ark, saving his family and countless animals from the flood. Otherwise, chances are, none of us would be here. Because according to scripture, the floodwaters rose until even the highest mountains, including Mount Everest, were covered. Additionally, many scientists claim that man's entire history, from Adam and Eve onwards, may have produced upwards of 100 billion individual people total so far! And when a soul goes to Hell, it breaks Jesus's heart!
Preacher, your entire post.....was just plain stupid! Congratulations!

If they marry the person they committed adultery with then yes. Plain and simple, yet they deserve each other, so whatever. That's a doomed marriage from the start. It is frowned upon by society and God himself. You broke sacred vows, why bother to say them again with someone else. It's meaningless.

Wow I am in Puxico & just stumbled upon this post, but must say this is why I do not go to church! This petty arguing is so unimportant...doesn't it say God will forgive me for any sin (other than taking my own life) if I ask and repent? Didn't Jesus die for that reason? I see "christians" in my town who have known me for my entire life and will turn there head at me in the grocery store! We are all human...none of us perfect...none of us with the authority to judge another...period! Please.. seriously, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't all sins equal? I don't attend church, not because of God, but because of Gods people! I may go to hell (as my mom has sd sit next to them in church or burn with them in hell) but if my blood is on their hands, won't they be there with me?

<quoted text> So what's the point of Jesus then? My understanding is if you are truly sorry and ask Jesus for forgiveness then he will forgive you of ALL sins! If there are exceptions then what is the point? Sorry but you are the one that is confused and or contradicting. Its funny that you didn't mention murder. So if I murder someone and ask Jesus for forgiveness then I shall be forgiven and go to heaven but if I divorce my wife and marry another then no matter how many times I ask Jesus for forgiveness, sorry bud but you are going to hell. Period! What a crock of shit. And yes I use words like that to express my point because there is nothing wrong with it. Society may say its a bad word but really what does society know? I don't follow the rules of society, I follow the rules of my heart and what the Bible says, and the Bible never said I couldn't use he word shit.
Amen! lol I think "preacher" is a fan of Hitler....Every post I read from this person is just ridiculous! If he were a representative for me he'd be fired....So I wonder what God has in store for him?

"preacher" and people like him really freak me out. They are the kind that will shoot doctors coming out of an abortion clinic because they believe it is WRONG but ok for them to kill in Gods name. They are tthe type that may have someone chained up in their basement because they are known for fornicating ....so like a young teen age girl....they will show them why its wrong to sin. They are the type to fly plains into buildings killing thousands of people ....so in all reality, they are exactly what Jesus stood against and quite frankly ...they scare the shit out of me. Oh and the worst part is, they live next door :(

The Bible is not a standard, its a guide....

It gives you stories of common situations and how you may overcome them...

In the end, God will judge you...

So, the religious leaders better prepare, because, with all of the young kids they have molested and prostitutes they have slept with,Money they have embezzled, they gonna burn, burn, burn!!!!

This is one reason I have chosen to practice my beliefs outside a church...I know my beliefs, love and teaching is from me to my young ones. As long as they stay true, they will be fine through life. I give them the chance to make decisions on what they want to do about religion, I donot force it upon them.

The way marriage is nowadays, the best thing to do is not get married....PERIOD!!!

My parents were married for over forty years before my mom passed. When I git married way to young I did jot believe in divorce, then after seven years of an extremely unhappy marraige, I still didn't believe in it but I did do it. We had Jo children together, she couldn't have them. Then after a few years I met and married the love of my life, she also was divorced as well and with one child. We now have two beautiful children together which I can't even express the love I have for them. If I stayed in an unhappy marraige in my "other" life then my children wouldn't even exist, my love for my wife and children wouldn't exist, if God in heaven truly believes that what I am doing is wrong and will send my wife and I to hell for doing it then this is not even a God I wish to know or meet, he is not worthy of the love that I have and feel in my heart.

I agree that love found this way is not adultery. You were both divorced when you found each other. However, marrying a homewrecking whore that destroyed your marriage is adultery, whether you wait to be divorced before being with her or not. Best of luck to you and your family. You might be one of the REAL men of this world....I'm convinced there aren't many.

There are no simple answers to this question, I wish there were. It all depends on the circumstances of each individual situation. So simplify it as much as possible. Put away all that you are told and have learned and reach inside your heart, what do you feel there? If you feel it is wrong then it is. If you feel only love and have no or little doubt then you shouldn't worry yourself about it. If you are a religious person then you should know that God knows what is in your heart, do not be afraid of what others say or think because only God is your Judge. And if you are true in your heart then God will know it. Best of luck to you.

Additionally, Jesus could have told us that marriage at all is a sin.

But He didn't.

Jesus could have told us that only those who have never, ever sinned, even once, since their biological birth, would have a chance of eternal life.

But He didn't.

Jesus, and even God, could have set up the format so that anyone who died either before birth (miscarriage) or as a newborn baby, before becoming capable of learning about Jesus automatically went to Hell!

But neither of them did.

Jesus could have hated children to death! He could have said that little children had their place in Hell.

But Jesus not only did not hate children, he loved children.

Especially during the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus could have even revealed a coming to condemn instead of save mankind and to warn that all of mankind was going to Hell regardless of how good they were, and that not a single person would ever make it to Heaven. He could have told us that He hated us and that Hell would be the final abode for even the best behaved people, including those who were sorry, even in the very core of their hearts, for their sins. He could have preached that there would never, ever be a Savior, and absolutely no salvation at all, for mankind, and He could have crushed the hearts of everyone who had hope for salvation in Him!

But He didn't.

So everyone, count yourselves lucky that Jesus does in fact love you! Also count yourselves Tremendously lucky that there is in fact a chance of salvation in Jesus Christ. Because however bad it may seem on Earth, it could have been millions of times worse!

Additionally, since Jesus was only 33 years old when He was crucified, He could have also told us that anyone who lived a day past 33 years old would be condemned to Hell regardless.

But He didn't.

But worst of all, Jesus's death on the cross could have been to destroy our lives, and His resurrection could have been to restore our Death!

Very luckily and highly fortunate for mankind, Jesus's death was to destroy our death and our sins, and His resurrection was to restore our life.

God did not write the bible and neither did Jesus! The bible is a book written by many different men who as any human interpret things differently. Can it be used as a guide yes if you want to use it as a guide but there are other options. As for the topic at hand if you feel you are committing adultery or they are feeling that way maybe the marriage wasn't over in all honesty.

Did the God of the OT all of a sudden decide he didn't want to be so mean any longer and decide that killing, slavery, slaughter, bigot, etc. wasn't his style so he was gonna send down himself, but as his son, but really it's himself and the holy ghost of himself? and start being a good guy? But, even better analogy for you sir. WHY is it that you wish to ignore and not listen to certain parts of the law laid out by your religion? Is it because, as you put it they are 'obscure' and outdated? Are they not inline with Today's culture and Knowledge base? Why is it Christians wish to cherry pick the bible and follow the rules that suit them best? I mean, if it is the lords law, then by all means, his followers must and should obey every word to the letter!....right?Have you stoned your child for disobeying you yet?Have you cut off the hands of someone that has stolen from you yet?Did you wait until marriage to have Sex?Have you killed a Homosexual yet?How many Slaves do you have? Are you using or have you used contraception?Do you hate and try to kill all infidels?Have you ever purchased a thing simply because you saw someone else have it and you liked or 'coveted' it so much you decided you wanted one too?Does that not make you want to step back and go ..."hmmmm" perhaps if ALL that stuff in that book and these stories are SO obscure and Outdated then maybe I should put 2 + 2 together and = 4 by seeing the fact that this Religion stuff is simply Man Made and ALL the rules, etc. within were simply made up by a ruler to best set his personal needs for controlling a group of people under him at whichever ANCIENT time it was. And possibly, the reason these rules and laws change is due to the fact that MAN made them up and as Society grows, learns and gains knowledge and becomes more Civilized we learn how to be better people and the laws of the day are based on the culture of the day and NOT that of some Invisible Space Alien that No One has ever seemed to have actually seen....?
