I recently inherited a house in Okmulgee and am planning on moving there with my baby daughter and husband, but I havent heard very good things about it. Is it a safe place? People act like there seems to be a lot of crime for such a small area.

I was born and raised in Okmulgee and yes there is alot of crime,but there is alot of crime everywere. I moved out of Okmulgee over 10 years ago, but I still return to visite friends and family. I love Okmulgee and I would live there again, but me and my husband bought a home in a differant state. What I'm trying to say is if you aren't assoceated with peaple in Okmulgee who do drugs or break the law you and your family can live in Okmulgee with peace. |

I would run away from that place as fast as possible. I was raised there, graduated highschool from there and would NEVER EVER EVER return! Okmulgee has a huge black cloud hanging over it.

It all starts with the people running this town.Alot of the same people been here 30 years plus. Time to vote them out.This town is going down hill its just a matter of time....

Wow, lot's of negativity, I'm back and forth. Okmulgee does have the small town favor of long time leadership in business and government. But I think if your an independent person and don't need special attention from the powers that be, then you'll be fine. Hum that sounds just like living anywhere else. Positive attitudes bring positive results.
