if THE HAVEN WAS NEVER A BAkERY... Y iS THERE A BiG SiGN OUT fRONT THAT CLEARLY SAYS "THE HAVEN RESTAURANT && BAkERY" ?????

yeah buddy have you ever even been there there's a big ass sign saying "Welcome to the haven bakery and restaurant" duh and if it was never a bakery tell me y they have a big ass bakers oven in there?? and public restrooms outside for the customers??and if no one was ever killed there why is there bloody handprints? help me understand where you are pulling this out of..its either out of ur own ass or someone elses.

yes there is a sign outside the fence that says ''the haven resturant and bakery''...and i have plenty of pictures to prove it....hahahahah!!!

i worked at the haven in the mid to late 70's. it was not a bakery at that time. it may have included that later on.
does anyone know what happened to the owners. i remember they were an older couple, they had great grandchildren. they lived in the house behind the resturant. i saw on another post that the resturant and house are empty. is it true?
i also remember after i no longer worked there they sold the place or rented it or something and someone open the resturant as the "little mushroom" or something like that. that didn't last long and the older couple returned it to the "haven" and worked there again. sound familiar to anyone?

The Haven got torn down recently. I was there today and there is nothing but rubble now.

Barney and Frieda were the owners.
Barney died of cancer Frieda went more nuts than before.
They had a daughter named beryl.
As far as I know she lives in North Park.

i remembered the daughter named beryl.
is frieda still alive? more nuts? wow, she was hard to work for i remember that. could be very mean at times. constantly yelled at her husband. but i am sorry to hear the haven is gone. what about the house behind it? there was an old barn too. i remember owls lived in the barn. when i was working for frieda she would punish me if i didn't do something right or quick enouph by makeing me pull weeds in lawn area.

I worked for the lunatic for awhile. She accused me of stealing right in front of my step daughter. I was smoking hot and quit on the spot.
I now live in the Ozarks, so I am not sure what happened to the house or barn.

You lived in Jamul? I think I know the new owner of the property you are talking about. Is this the place that is just off 94 on the south side west of lyons valley road? It's adjacent to USF&W property now with limited access if it's the same. Just curiuos.....

I lived in Jamul for over 30 years.
Turn right off Lyons Valley Road onto Campo Road (highway 94). Go about 1 and 1/2 mikes its on the left before the old go cart track around Bud Hiles equipment place way before the Greek Sombreo.

I hear Freida came down with alzheimer's, and Barney actually killed himself.

Thanks. I don't know much about Jamul but saw the posts after looking for the "Descanso Forum" on a google search. I live near Descanso so I know more about this area. Your mention of Ken Rupe was of interest because I had some dealings with him about 25 years ago. I didn't know he was still in business.

As far as the old bakery, I met someone who has told me he bought the property recenty. I hope he didn't buy it via the local realtor mentioned but if he did then I hope it works out. He is a good man with family who can make something out of the place.

Freda died on April 18th 2004. And I did hear from a neighbor that Barney hung himself in the back house.

I think it may have been a rumor about him killing himself though.

what was freda and barney's last name?

The "Haven offered a small selection of baked goods at one time.Burney& Freidas daughter sold baked goods& was also a talented artist.Burney became ill& in pain in his old age.Either accidently overdosed Or only his maker knows for sure afamily friend Kay.

Hope u find the info.i sent & u didnt post useful.If u live in Jamul its time to pluck your head out of the sand u are losing your lifestyle because of a few greedy people.And to know the truth of why Indians have casinos u need to go & spesk to them personally.We sent them to school& made them Lawyers&such took there culture Made them Chatholics made them to dress& look like us.Now why do u suppose they became likes or could it be they beat the white man at his own game.Hey I didnt write history Im just reporting just think about it after u fume....k

And post the other commet about your own suppervisor that sold the Jamulians down the road.And whaever happened to the moratorium on water well usage.No Lawns NO pools etc.And remember the Good stewards The Daleys?And is the consevacy& fish & game still letin loose game birds that dont belong loose on the old Daley ranch so wealthy people can soot them?Wake up before there are no more Majestic Oaktrees kangaroo rats green rolling hills in winter or would u rather look at someones pretencious house on the hill surrouned by lawns & a pool rarely swam in?If thats it keep tearing the history down ,rewrite it & become a real desert no longer a HIgh desert.And there was no barn at the "Haven it was a carraige house.Most carraige houses were torn down they just didnt go with the new homes.Thats why I moved from Jamul we lost our lifestyle.We were the middle class remember that healty class of people in S.D.Now its the super rich&the peasantry.It truly is a hamlet now.....kay
