15-Year-Old Charged With Attempted Murder

A 15-year-old teen from unincorporated Maine Township remains in custody today (Friday) on one count of attempted murder and one count of aggravated battery with a firearm.

The youth is being charged as an adult and was denied bail in a Skokie courtroom this morning by Cook County Circuit Court Judge Henry Singer.

According to Cook County Sheriff's Police spokeswoman Penny Mateck, the 15-year-old allegedly shot a 21-year-old Maine Township man in the head in a dispute over money yesterday (Thursday) just before 1 p.m. at the 21-year-old's apartment in the 9200 block of Noel Avenue.

According to the Cook County State's Attorney's office the 21-year-old remains in critical condition at Lutheran General Hospital, fully paralyzed on his right side and partially paralyzed from the neck down on his left side.

After the shooting the 15-year-old fled the scene, police said. He was arrested several hours later at his home in the 9400 block of Dee Road in unincorporated Maine Township.

A trial date has been set for Friday, Aug. 15 at the Skokie courthouse.

Maine Township teen held without bail in shooting

Victim is partially paralyzed after bullet is removed from head

August 2, 2008

A north suburban teenager has been charged as an adult in a shooting that seriously wounded a man during a dispute over money in Cook County near Des Plaines, sheriff's police said Friday.

Chaseton Walker, 15, of the 9400 block of Dee Road in Maine Township has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm, said Steve Patterson, a spokesman for the sheriff's police. Walker was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Thursday at his home, Patterson said.

Walker was ordered held without bail at a hearing Friday.

The victim, 21, who has not been identified, was shot in the head Thursday in a quarrel in the living room of his apartment in the 9200 block of Noel Avenue, also in Maine Township, authorities said.

Teen is held without bond in attempted murder in Maine

August 4, 2008

By JENNIFER JOHNSON jjohnson@pioneerlocal.com

A 15-year-old boy is being held without bond after being charged with shooting a man over an alleged drug transaction in unincorporated Maine Township last week.

Chaseton Walker, of the 9400 block of Dee Road, Maine Township, has been charged as an adult with one count each of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a firearm, according to Cook County Sheriff's spokesperson Steven Patterson.

The shooting was reported at 12:50 p.m. July 31 in the living room of a condo on the 9200 block of Noel Avenue, said Penny Mateck, spokesperson for the Sheriff's Police. The residence is located at the corner of Noel and Sumac Road, just south of Golf Road between Potter and Dee roads.

According to Mateck, the offender came to visit a resident of the condo. Mateck said that the men, who knew each other, got into a dispute over money, and that during the dispute, the offender took out a gun and shot the victim.

Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Gail Vierneisel said the victim, Michael Hart, 21, told police the dispute was over a drug transaction. Vierneisel said Hart claimed to owe Walker $125 for drugs, but only had $15, which he handed over to him inside the condo. When Hart turned to walk away, he was shot once, Vierneisel said. A .22 caliber bullet was later removed from his neck, she said.

Walker was arrested around 3:30 p.m. that afternoon at his home, which is located just a few blocks east of where the shooting occurred. Vierneisel said she did not have information on where police believe Walker obtained the gun.

Hart was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. An update on his condition was not available at press time, but Vierneisel said he had suffered paralysis to his right side, and his left side was also partially paralyzed.

I completely disagree with all of the vugar, degrating comments left about Chaseton! The saddest part is, most to none of these people making the comments actually knew him and knew what really happened. I know Chaseton personally and I also know what he is capable of. At the same time i also know the truth about everything and it seems to me that some of the people here are sadly mistaken! People who have only negative things to say (primarily about Chaseton) just shouldn't speak at all. He is someone whom many adored, and i personally had deep feelings for him. I hope all goes well for "Red" and that he makes a complete 360 when he gets out!

-CeCe...I love you Chaseton!

Trust me it's alot safer in the suburbs, but the dramma is everywhere. Mount Prospect is pretty nice to live, because I moved from the city. In reality its just a bunch of spoiled kids use to getting what they want, and they get hooked on these drugs, and loose their minds. The parents make 100,000.00 and have no time for these kids. I work at a rehab, and trust me the druggies are not low income kids!
If you move ourt here NEVER move to Tanglewood Apts--ghetto fabulous.

unfortuantly he gets throu prison where he deserves to be. I don't think that you sound intelligent by the blog. Baby Mamma says it all, and its sad that a female thinks this is normal behavior, and I'm sure nobody cares about you GHETTO LOVE. A family is missing their loved one, because of you Babydaddy. god bless you in a special way

Ms. Cece you seemed clueless as well. Are you that mentally challenge that you don't understand that this THUG commintted a murder. We are normally working people so regardless of what type of wanna bee drug dealler that this guy is~ HE BROKE THE LAW, and I wish that he gets time in jail, so he can see it was not worth it.. Normal brothat work, and take care their families. Loosers moves to the Suburbs, and think that they are running something. I would trully recommend you, and the rest of the hoodlums to kick it out West where the big girls/boys run things. Im sure he is a good person, because only GOD can judge, but in this thing called life ma~ the judge will do the SENTENCING

I totally agree, because has a big impact on the surrounding areas, and the immediate neighborhood. I'm sorry but you can't put average americans make 40,000.00 min with families that don't work at all, and depending on the system. Apartments are getting real desperate now to rent out. I'm minority,a nd I feel unsafe aound my own people at time. No this isn't a race card, but most of the time its an illegal immigrant, or other minorities. We have crazy people in all races, but genrally. please dont take this out of context

Learn how to speak correct English. Trust me you will not get a chance in the real world without skills. In reality this gentlemen that did the shooting will be judge by a higher power, and its a shame that he will learn from this the hard way. He can hang up his future with a violent criminal background for landing a job. Please answer me why do youngsters want to act like they are from the ghetto living in a decent neighborhood. If you like that lifestyle why not save money, and move to Southside, or the Westside. Im assuming to much reality, and cowards. yes you heard about this, but what can you do to help change ghetto behaviors like this!!

He thinks that he is so cool, and we will see who is cool standing before a conservative caucasian judge in Skokie. good luck pick a cell my friend
