they are out there
I believe it. Lots of wildlife in Northern New Milford, Kent, etc. As we all found out recently there are bears in the area too. Except for the poor mother bear that was shot the other day.

Saw a cougar 3 days ago in my yard. I live at the base of a small mountain and we very often have bobcats, bears, foxes, etc in and around our property. However this cat was at least twice the size of any bobcat I have ever seen and/or heard of. It was approx. 90-100+ lbs. Buff color and pushed in face, similar to a boxer dog, which at first glance I thought it was. However thinking it was a dog I began to approach it to realize what exactly it was. I called DEP Wildlife who did tell me that we do have some cougar/ mountain lions in the area but due to reports being few and far between they do not feel there is much use in tracking them at this at this current time. However, these big cats rarely attack people in this area and residents should not be concerned for their safety. At which point he said I should not let my dog out alone at night, and trust me I WONT.
They have been known to attack people out west, so don't you believe it. Why would the animal have different behavior here?

That poor scared cougar was trapped in an alleyway...showing NO signs of aggression and instead of doing the RIGHT, HUMANE thing which would have been to tranquilize him and either release him back into his natural habitat or see if a zoo was interested, those VERY AGGRESSIVE, gun toting,Chicago cops just blasted away! Mayor Daily should be ashamed of himself for defending this unspeakable act of cruelity! I hope the Olympic committee will take note of what has transired here and NOT give the bid for the summer olympic games to such a inhumane city!
Yeah Right, let's stop the Olympics from coming because an animal was killed.
Let all of the tax revenue walk away.
This was a cougar and while it may not have been aggressive, it was still a danger.
But next time I am sure they will calla vet, follow the cat around and then dart it, just so you don't cry.

I saw a mountain lion an cubs in the late 1960's
in the berkshires. They are VERY hard to confuse with a mountain lion or deer trust me. Gee maybe I should have saved the scat!!! The locals up there were not a bit surprised, apparently there were incidents of farm animals getting eaten by them as well. Must be all mass hallucination. Now one reported and confirmed less than 30 miles away in Mass. Its OK, they know where the CT border is and wont cross the line.

Speaking of which...
there was a bird at the mall the other day...
about three feet tall... long legs...
white... VERY THIN... long beak.
Was it a crane? a heron? an Ibus?
I've also seen a blue heron at the cemetary by the hospital.

Daily Horoscope for June 1

Cancer

Life has plenty to offer today, especially when it comes to enjoyment. You're in the mood for some fun and games, whether that means playing with your children or getting up to something very adult with you-know-who. You'll enjoy being as active as possible, and will jump at the chance of taking part in a competitive sport... provided you can win, of course.
