My palate can honestly say that Minervini's Pizza in East Haven is the best. I grew up in New Haven and Nate used to be the main Pizza maker at Palm Beach Pizza on Grand Ave. in New Haven. I'm sorry Pepe's is not the best anymore, their pizza got way too thin and the sauce is runny. So go to Minervini's in East Haven and I assure that you will have a fantastic pizza pie. The Calzones are also a dream. Grand Appizza is also another good one, formerly on Grand Ave. The brothers are now in business in East Haven and CLinton, Ct.

I do. Grandad's "secret" recipe straight from Federal Hill in Providence, R.I.. All fresh ingredients. Greenhouse tomatoes year round. Dough from scatch. Spices and herbs from my herb garden. Sausage "sawzeech" from my uncle Johnny. Fresh "mootzarell" from grandma Enza. Baked on a stone in a homemade brick oven. Haven't paid for a commercial pie in years.

In the Northwest corner the best place for good pizza is Vinnie's in Middlebury. Thick, crunchy crust, excellent sauce and great service. Best to call ahead on weekends.

Have to agree with Kat - Modern in New Haven is best. The Wooster Street mainstays aren't too shabby either. New Haven is the pizza capital of the world.

Count OUT Mystic Pizza. They are running on the hype created by the movie. The pies are not very good, and they rush you to finish, so they can get the next suckers in line to spend money. Don't waste your money at Mystic Pizza.
