Economy ends Sunday's Polka Celebration

Full story: Connecticut Post

The music died July 12. And the economy killed it. "I just couldn't get the sponsorship," said Peter J. Danielczuk, who pulled the plug on his Polka Celebration show which aired Sunday mornings at 11 a.m. on WDJZ-1530 on the AM dial.

Best of luck to Peter J
I am sure he will appear again on the radio.
Back in the 90's, during his WICC era, I had the pleasure of going on two of his Polka Celebration Cruises to Bermuda. He was a magnificent host and he invited me to the Captain's table for dinner. I will never forget that. I also met his Mom, Dad and Sister on the cruise. They were the nicest people.

What an absolute shame. When I was growing up my father (Pete also) too listened intently to Victor and Sophie Zembruski's show weekly, and then later Polka Pete. I know Polka music just doesn't appeal to all, but I hope and pray that there are 10 - 20 business owners who can see the history, and recognize there is a market to advertise to in this show.

Peter - Good luck. You have a big heart and your music has been a staple in the Naugatuck Valley for many years. Let's hope you return.

I smiled when I read his comment about searching the dial for Polka music on Sunday morning drives with his dad; our family did the same :)

Can't get 200 Bucks a week in sponsors?
Perhaps no one is listening to the show?
Maybe you are wasting your time?

Would there be a poll on it, I am sure many here would prefer hearing you being killed in a slaughterhouse over polka music - the nice thing being that the killing wouldn't take long so they could THEN listen to the music in peace.

Assuming you just don't know the right words, I would have to agree that the yankee song does suck.

Daily Horoscope for June 1

Taurus

Some people are full of talk today and the trouble is that they don't know when to shut up. Who needs all the trivial details? Retro Venus is favoured in Gemini, so financial matters may resurface, and you may be inclined to change your point of view. Think long term, especially if you are tempted to form an important liaison, or partnership.
