The music died July 12. And the economy killed it. "I just couldn't get the sponsorship," said Peter J. Danielczuk, who pulled the plug on his Polka Celebration show which aired Sunday mornings at 11 a.m. on WDJZ-1530 on the AM dial.

Back in the 90's, during his WICC era, I had the pleasure of going on two of his Polka Celebration Cruises to Bermuda. He was a magnificent host and he invited me to the Captain's table for dinner. I will never forget that. I also met his Mom, Dad and Sister on the cruise. They were the nicest people.

When I was growing up my father (Pete also) too listened intently to Victor and Sophie Zembruski's show weekly, and then later Polka Pete. I know Polka music just doesn't appeal to all, but I hope and pray that there are 10 - 20 business owners who can see the history, and recognize there is a market to advertise to in this show.
