The hot rod restaurant 50's?

Who's dumb idea was it to put a 1950's restaurant in town. Aren't most of the people who remember the 50's entering nursing homes now? Who will patronize the restaurant then? What about us younger guys who don't like cars? And what do cars have to do with food? What about the ladies, they usually don't like old cars? Really Really weird!

Hey dude, you really need to get out more. Cause you are really, really,really weird! P.S Stop by the diner when you get out,and have some fun,if you can fine someplace to park. LOL!

I love Hot Rods! The employees are very pleasant and make you want to come for breakfast, lunch & dinner!

If you don't know whose dumb idea it was to put a 50's restaurant in growing Wheatfield, let me tell you. It's only the owner of DeMotte's Chocolate shop, which is the only place to actually get decent ice cream, chocolate treats and gummies. Gummies that come from the nations fifth largest distributor of gummi candies... who only happens to be the owner's brother.

And as for the theme, it reminds us of the fifties when the elderly in nursing homes obviously dont have the opportunity to do so. Cars happened to be a popular topic in the fifties, and if you didn't know that fifties folks enjoyed meals while showing off their cars that's your loss. And as for the ladies who supposedly don't like old cars.... don't worry, there's not a fifties car parked in their that they must dine in. Only pictures and memorabilia that show off those times. And if any lady can't handle that, they need to learn to quit thinking about their lip gloss and mascara and deal with what the fifties were like.

Wheatfield is growing, and it needs better than what it has now.

Hot Rods is definitely what we needed.

I just love Hot Rods! It's a great place and GREAT FOOD! The owners are very nice and always there. Most of the "CAR PEOPLE" have put their "BABIES" to bed for the winter,but they will be back for the spring. But the people will still be there! Keep up the good work! And a big THANK-YOU for coming to our town.See you soon!

We just stop in the other day and owners where not there and there should be at least one to stay and see what is going on. The food was good but they need to train their waitress how to serve. They should always bring the silverware when they bring the menue. When our food came we didn't have silverware to eat with. Also I couldn't swallow the It.beef sandwich because there wasn't any juice. I waited until the waitress came back and she said that there is juice if I wanted, but I wasn't asked when ording.
The cole slaw is not very good. I had asked others and they say the same thing. Watch how much is left on the plates and you may find they may need to change their recipe. If things arn't changed they may loss business before it starts.
I like look and hope that they have a good business. It is a fun place and love the music

We visited Hot Rods the third day of opening and to be honest, I wasn't all that impressed. They were out of cole slaw, and the fries were under cooked and soggy. The burger had little flavor. The atmosphere and scenery was appealing. Too bad they spent more time on decorations, than food preperations.

I think it is incredible that someone took the initiative to open a business (restaurant) and attempt to please everyone in Wheatfield. How can a place be judged on the third day of opening? i personally know the owners and they only strive to be the best! Try it again...I am sure you will be pleased the second time around.

Please give these people a break.I enjoy going to Hot Rod. The food is great and the breakfast are excellent! Sure some of the staff has to do a better job or go but don't that happen in any new place that opens up? Give the place a chance.I know there is a place in town that had the same problems when they open up,but they sort it out and now its a excellent place and now its hard to even get a seat.Com e back and give it a try! Also let the owners know what you think in person.

I liked the food here only if they have it..It seems everytime I go in there they are out of something...they need to be consistant of their way of cooking their food... 1 day i went in there and ordered the all you can eat ribs then went back the following week and they werent offering it anymore. and the prices are too high! this isnt Valpo or Merrillville this is Wheatfield. and since when does a 50's diner offer crab and Prime rib? if you are going to call it a 50's diner then have the food that makes it a 50's diner then! And they have a waitress Named Barb,(i know I saw her name tag like she's proud) that likes to complain and run out side and argue with the customer about her tip. well if she didnt suck so bad then maybe we would tip her better.

The people who own and operate Hot Rods are very hard-working and good people. They operate the Chocolate Shoppe in DeMotte, as well. They are in every day. The staff work hard to try to please the town of Wheatfield, which is no easy task. As for the older folks, especially the ladies, who are not car afficianados, there's more to Hot Rods than just cars. The music is cool, it's no-smoking, no alcohol, family-friendly atmosphere.But it's too bad you're not into cars. Cars, rock & roll, and places like Hot Rods are part of Americana. America invented the automobile, and what would America be like without good ol' grub like the Wall of Fame burger and pepper fries and the Junkyard Omelet? Kudos to Hot Rods!!!!!! Keep on serving up the best burgers in Wheatfield!!!!! Thank you to the owners and staff at Hot Rods!!!! Keep up the good work!!! May 2009 be a rockin' year for your business!!!

Ive been to Hot Rods on two occasions the first I ordered a reuben sandwich it was good but there was only one slice of meat on it, the second time I went just to chat with some freinds and get ice cream we had to wait 40 mins to order and then another 30 mins to find out they were out of hot fudge for our sundeas and the real funny part is they were not busy at all. Im sorry to say I will probably not go back there and its a shame because there really are no good places to eat in Demotte area, hopefully they will get their act together before they go out of business.

The place rocks! I have never had bad food,if anything they give you way too much food! Ok, now I know some here has had bad service,that's too bad,but did you complain to the owners? They need to know this.Please go back and give this place a second chance.We need to support our local places.

I actaully did complain, the first time, the second time of bad service which was months apartsealed the deal for me, my time and money is too precious to me to waste, and I am all about supporting our local businesses becuase god knows we need good places in this area. I dont want to agrue with anyone, just wanting to voice my opinion and maybe the owners will see this and who knows maybe help them to montitor what goes on over there when the are not there.

Been there a few times and even with the bad service ignored, the food wasn't very good. I'm sad that we can't get good food there.I only eat at Luke's!!!Now there is a place to eat!!

I love Hot Rod's the food is great and i love the music and the face lift of the place needed the decor is great as for the service i have had Barb as a server and she is wonderful my kids love her i am sry you didnt feel the same about her as we do she always has a smile on her face and is very attendative to us while we are there maybe she was busy with all the gust that ask for her that she didnt meet you needs as i say you cant please everyone all the time i visit this place at least 3 times a week and i have to say that all the servers are good to me and my family this is what wheatfield needs keep up the great work Hot Rod's

Ok a 3rd time I tried hot rods, and its not any better than the first two times, I agree Lukes is way better food! And good prices. I guess the people who like hot rods are lifers of this area and dont know what good food and service is. You guys seriously need to venture beyond this area and find out what good service really is, these country folk are just so slow, not in a hurry for nothing, I am all about supporting my local business's but it is hard to waste MY hard earned money for horrible service and not that great of food. The decor is fun and the cars are fun but it takes more than decor to get me to eat at a restaurant! So please people, this is why we are stuck with bad places to eat around here because nobody knows any better!!

It seems you have a problem with this place so don't go back! If you think Luke's is a fine place to eat than so be it! To each his own.I like both places but Hot rods is my 1st choice.

OK lets all just realize that Hot Rods isnt the only resturant in Wheatfield...We went to Schnicks and we had the best service and HOT FOOD ever. we were in and out and satisfied with in a half hour of getting there...cant say that for hot rods...Oh and what about Lukes obviously both of these resturants have been here for a while now and i dont think they are going anywhere, but is Hot rods dont start catering to their Customers then they wont be around for long like Schnicks and lukes!!!
