Pine Ridge vandals in trouble with law, Volusia school system

Make their parents pay. $20,000 seems a low amount. How about $20,000 from each stupid student or jail time. Or both.

Why is this being called a prank when it's pure vandalism? Calling it a prank makes it sound like innocent fun with no consequences to others. The juvenile criminals that did this need to be taught a lesson that they will never forget.

If I were the judge I would hand them a suspended jail sentence of 1 year and sentence them to janitorial duties at the school until they graduate. If they fail to graduate in 4 years then they do the year in lockup as adults.

Kids want to one up each other to make their mark. This business of 'prank’ing will quickly get out of control unless the legal system sets an example for all to see.

The article says "they were not arrested", that is why they have no fear.

How do we know the color of their skin? It's not stated in the article and location in Central Florida no longer guarantees the color of one’s skin.

A recent "prank" was just committed at Cypress Creek HS, an area often associated with Latino populations. Do we just assume that the kids pulling that one are Hispanic?

For what it is worth, 2 out of the 3 were of Latin decent, the other was a cuacasian name.

hey Panch0 - who's going to pay for your food stamps when the current majority is the minority and there's not enough money to support all of you parasites?

Why a committee? Tell they are finished in the public schools in the county and let their parents deal with it.

Buy the locks and then make them repair every last one of them. Anything that was spray painted - make them sand it down and paint. Put them on a week in school suspension where they are required to do these repairs and more. If their little hands and fingers and muscles hurt, than I have a feeling they will learn a valuable lesson. Filing charges against them isn't going to solve a thing.

Just where did all of these kids parents think that their children were? Kids lie to their parents. Kids act nice while in their presense, but when out on their own with their peers, they will smack an innocent person in the face, just to do it. To see if they can knock someone out with one punch. I hope that they have to pay for the damage. That is the least that the courts can do. Make them and their parents responsible, period.

Community service, AFTER cleaning up the school and replacing all the locks out of their parent's pockets. Deltona has plenty of trash on the side of the road for them to pick up, and isn't there a St. John's River clean-up day coming up? I am sure the school's sidewalks could be pressure cleaned and the toilets made to shine, not to mention the halls and classroom will have to be prepared over the summer for classes in the fall. Give 'em a paint brush and make them work the entire summer in Community Service.

1. Post 10 foot high colored photos of the 3 idiots at the entrance to the school and allow the other students to write whatever nasty comments they like about the idiots.

2. Make the parents write 10,000 word essays explaining why they failed to raise their kids properly.

3. Make the kids write 50,000 word essays during detention explaining why their actions were wrong.

4. Have the parents and/or kids pay for the damages.

$20,000 in damage is not a prank. A prank is when you put cow manure in front of the door to the school but put down a blue tarp first so that clean up is easy. This is just plain criminal.

Get 'em out of there. Bill the parents for the cleanup costs. End of story.

These kids were stupid because if i were to do a prank i would do one harmless to the school and i would be a senior and not screw my whole school years up.I also know all three kids who did it and only one was white for all you people who think of people as colors and not real people.

Security cameras installed in plain view with warning signs deter an incident like this over 90 percent of the time.

when the minorities become the majority we will all be in trouble.will everybody spell like that?to say no charges because of skin color is typical minority mentality.let stop crying for the minority
