Wilt Chamberlain's restaurant in Boca Raton closed as owner, la...

why would a landlord who leases space for a restaurant say it is the leasee's responsibility for grease that is trapped in the ceiling? this is why you have insurance, to pay for repairs for things such as this. you have to be pretty stupid to think that grease won't accumulate in a ceiling of a restaurant.
sounds to me as if the landlord wants to move in another restaurant owner and charge higher rent. mr. kron should move his business to the old wolfie's location on glades road. that way he would have all the business of east and west boca. wilt's shopping center is out of the way and a dinosaur. |

My daughter had many a birthday party there. Wilt's is one of the few restaurants that have withstood time, which is very rare in Florida. I remember when it opened, and it will be very sad to see it gone. Maybe you should move it to the old Pete Rose Location. I believe the landlord should be responsible for roof leaks.

I love Wilt Chamberlain's...been going there since it opened. We live in Boynton, the grandparents live in Boca and we would all meet there on Sunday nights for dinner. We even had the opportunity to meet Mr Chamberlain there one night while eating.(Boy, was he a tall one!!!) Please reopen and, if not in that spot, somewheres else, close, maybe Boynton??? lol

There is a very nice spot available for this fine restaurant at the old Holiday Inn Lake Side. This area would provide adequate parking and finally a good restaurant for the hotel. Don't stay where you are not wanted.

Worked there during the wild early days. Once the original owners sold it, it went downhill. Sorry to the loyals, but it's better that it's gone.

There are plenty of sports bars in Boca. Try the Draft House in Boca. There are 2 great locations to choose from. Voted best Sports Bar in Boca Raton 2 years in a row. I heard that the owners were looking to reopen Wilts as Wilts.

What a joke !

Turn the place into a wack-shack.

Had you been a server there, you'd know it was. |

Wilt's was more than a sports bar...it was a family oriented, kid friendly restaurant, unlike the Draft House. The food was better there, too. |

yea used to work there..boca bitch moms who thought they were in hollywood and annoying kids..worse part about working there

Former employees (hell, even current ones) always have something to bitch about. Why do you get into the business if you hate it? Working in that business is not easy, I admit, but don't be surprised if you have to put up with customers, even god awful ones.
As for Wilts closing, that's a shame. My son loved the place and the food wasn't half bad. Landlord is obviously an ass. Fix the darn roof and work out a settlement with your tenant. |

This restaurant always sucked, if you liked it try going to Denny's or Waffle house.
Also the landlord is in the right. |

The restaurant served a purpose (catered to kids) and was a wonderful respite from the usual restaurants in South Florida. Set the stage for Pete Rose's and Dave & Busters (the best one of it's kind). In fact Boca could use a good Dave & Busters! In it's day, when a surly Wilt Chamberlain came around (he never looked happy),he always looked out of place within his own body... but it was surely a happy place to take the kids.
And I don't blame waiters, busboys etc to complain - there are no real good experiences in the food-server business in SoFla... |

My b/f and I went there the other night, and were we disappointed!!! We liked the food and the service, and the prices were very reasonable. The menu was varied too! I also have fond memories of bringing my kids there the first several years after we had moved to Boca (although I'd hate to think of myself as one of the "obnoxious Boca moms"- see above!). It WAS a great place, and a novel one, to bring the kids. I do hope it re-opens somewhere else locally... I'll miss it!

Is it going to reopen again?I have seen the note on the door but i have not seen anybody moving in or out?

Wilt was the only place in Boca that had the NTN Trivia game, which is one of the main reasons we used to go there. |
