I am outraged at the way animals are treated. I suggest that your group of animal lovers put these people out of business. All of you should start taking in these animals before Tri County can get their hands on them.
I am sure true animals lovers would do an excellent job of providing for these animals. It really would not be too expensive. You could raise funds to pay for food and vet bills. All you would have to do is provide your home for shelter.

Really, action speak louder than words. My daddy use to say put up or shut up.

Oh these cheap Boca bastards should stop crying and volunteer. The people in FOrt Lauderdale do a great job volunteering and adopting dogs and cats. I do not like Mrs. Huizenga's husband but she and the hubby support the shelter. The people in Boca are cheap bastards. My guess is these troublemakers are after the land TriCounty is on. Filthy vermin.

Hey Andy from Tampa, let me ask you a question - Have you ever even been to Tri County Humane Society in Boca? I think not! Let me ask you another question - if someone is a real animal lover and cares, how could the Boca Animal Lovers volunteer at Tri County for 1-2 years and see the attrocities they are speaking of now and not report it to the authorities for 2 years? Please remember, some of these volunteers have not been inside the doors of Tri County since 2002! No one loves animals more than I do, and I have been rescuing for 10 years, and if I would ever, even for 1 day, see what they are saying about the treatment of animals, I would be contacting anyone and everyone to have it stopped immediately, not years later. So, why did they all wait for so long? The answer is, it is not true. I have been to their shelter many times and I made it a point to go there 2-3 times a week after all this Boca Animal Lovers started. I would just walk through the whole shelter and sit in the lobby and watch and listen. All I saw was love, compassion, consideration and cleanliness. Every dog in every run had a clean bed and toys and I saw the volunteers rotating the dogs in the play yards with swimming pools and toys. So, as far as these Boca Animal Lovers doing rescue on their own - none of them are going to be bothered to take animals into their home. So, I suggest you visit the shelter or shut up!

Let's get down to the root cause of problems with animal shelters: There are not enough places to adopt out the animals. The three counties of Florida lead the nation in pet euthanizations (according to a Sun Sentinal article, "Overpopulation crowds South Florida animal shelters" by Sally Kestin, June 23, 2002).
How can the root problem be solved? More people need to spay/neuter their pets, for one thing. Also, more places need to be opened up to accepting animal companions. It is no coincidence that the geographic area where there are serious issues with shelters and more euthanizations than anywhere else
is the same area where most people live in condos and other forms of common interest ownership communities. Citizens for Pets in Condos, Inc.(www.petsincondos.org ) advocates for replacing no-pet deed restrictions which are pervasive in common interest ownership communities with more reasonable pet guidelines. Our web page has a petition to allow pets in condos, a wealth of information on the health benefits of companion animals, legal information, stories, letters, and more.
If we can get 50,000 signatures on our petition to allow pets in condos, we can get a law passed similar to the one in California that allows unit owners in association-run communities to have at least one pet. We have over 7,600 signatures (online and on paper), with our numbers rising every day.

I'm sorry you missed my point. I just wanted to point out that if what they say it true; then they are not animal lovers because they did nothing. I who truly do care has adopted three dogs from the animal shelter; three very lovely and loving dogs. Yes most shelters that I have visited in this state are filled with people who truly care about animals and their care. I salute them for their compassion.

Although the Broward shelter is new and modern, I believe they still keep the cats in cages.(It's been a few years since I've visited.)

On the other hand, at Tri-County, the cats live out of cages in a suite of three brightly colored rooms, with toys, furniture to climb on, a TV, and a small but dedicated group of volunteers who love them wholeheartedly and who feel both sad and happy when they are adopted.

I am happy to see all these letters in support of Tri-County!

The Boca Animal Lovers have met their match with the real animal lovers that comment here on Muriel's petty letter. I believe that the shelter is run by a very compotent staff and everything is done to ensure the animals wellbeing. Funds are used to care for animals that would have been put to sleep anywhere else, like the little dog that was on the news recently. It had surgery on both legs and is now recouperating at the Clint Moore Animal Hospital. This amounted to thousands of dollars and still does, as they have to pay for each day he stays there. So people should see that every donation helps and keep donating. Do not listen to this group, because animals like this little puppy will suffer if there are not funds available to help. I urge everybody to visit the shelter and see firsthand what a wonderful place it is!

Cats and dogs do NOT always live out their lives at Tri-County, they are sent to other "facilities" and not checked, chained to trees outside, like at Clewiston, Florida. Dogs and Cats, even with all the free food donated to Tri-County that is adequate to feed all it's residents, never is enough and these animals are malnourished. Professional veterinary care is "too expensive" "we need your Money" give us some! We'll keep a few heart cases for your guilt and pull them out when we need funds. FYI "J. Murhpy" Boca News of November 19, 2006 is Tri-County's CEO past and presently that name comes up on caller ID when she telephones.

There currently is a website Boca Animal Lovers.com with statements by people, mostly volunteers at Tri-Count Humane Society. There will be a new website and we will keep you informed. Meanwhile you can write The City of Boca Raton, Florida Mayor, Steven L. Abrams a certified letter and all other City Council Members 201 West Palmetto Park Rd. zip 33432. Tax payer dollars are being used in a slow-kill shelter, the other side of no-kill most people do not know about. Thank you.

Jeannette Christos should be take out out of her position of power!! She is not qualified to work with money or people .How can there be forty statements of people who have been part of tri county. Are they all lying? The city and the public needs to wake up and face the truth.

THANK YOU SALLY YOU SEEM TO KNOW WHATS UP AT THAT SHELTER. I MUST SAY YOUR CORRECT IN WHAT YOU SAY.THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE VOICED THERE OPINON ,ABOUT HOW CLEAN THAT PLACE IS ,AND HOW WONDERFULL IT IS RUN ,SHOULD TALK TO SOME OF THE STAFF WHEN THEY ARE NOT AT THE SHELTER,YOU WOULD HEAR DIFFERENT STORIES.
EVEN THE PRESENT VOLUNTEERS HAVE MUCH CONCERN ABOUT HOW BADLY THAT PLACE IS RUN .THE CLEANLINESS OF THAT SHELTER WAS DUE TO THE BOCA ANIMAL LOVERS SPEAKING UP TO TWO OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS,AND LETTING THEM TAPE THE CONCERNS OF THE FORTY PLUS VOLUNTEERS.THE WRITERS IN THIS SITE WHO ARE SPEAKING FOR THE SHELTER HAVEN'T GOT A CLUE AS TO WHAT GOES ON THERE, DON'T WASTE YOU TIME WRITTING ABOUT SOMETHING THAT YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT. THE FORTY PLUS PEOPLE ARE NOT LYING ABOUT THAT PLACE,THEY KNOW BECAUSE THEY WERE THERE TO SEE IT HAPPENING.
AS FOR THEM SPEAKING UP ,IT'S VERY DIFFICULT WHEN THE (TOP) PEOPLE DON'T CARE WHAT IS SAID OR DONE ,IF THEY DON'T LIKE WHAT IS SAID OR DONE THEY TELL YOU TO LEAVE THE PREMISES OR THE POLICE WILL REMOVE YOU .
SO YOU SEE IF YOU REALLY LOVE CATS AND DOGS YOU KIND OF KEEP LOW KEYED. THANKS SALLY

thanky you sally ,
the forty plus people who wrote statements are not lying at all . it is a shame that people can see the forest for the trees ,
these forty plus people witnessed all that they say and saw. it 's very hard for people who are being coached from the shelter to realize that one day ,they will witness some of the same things that the forty plus people have.it's easy to fap your lips when you don't know whats going on .
the two board of directors who attened the very first meeting of the boca animal lovers were able to tape most of the meeting . this gave the shelters CEO a very easy route to follow as far as cleaning up the place . if you really get involved at that shelter you see whats really happening.the people who write as to how wonderful that place is,
really don't know about ,if you say and do the things that the CEO doesn't like ,you are told to leave the premises no matter if you are correct in what you say and do or not.they don't care.why don't these people try and ask for the records of that shelter and see how wonderful these people are.
they should talk to some of the staff members ,when they are not working at that place and see how wonderful that place and the CEO is.
they should talk to some of the present volunteers when they are away from that place and see how wonderful and clean that plce is and who was responsible for making the CEO clean up the place.
all of the light ,will shine in there in time. thanks jj

Have you experienced Jeanette Christos as a boss? She says she rules with an iron hand, I would call it a dictatorship.
She rules by intimidation, yelling and screaming. Her management style is management by crisis.
She has absolutely no people skills, except when people with money or government officials show up.
She is in charge of everything.
Jeanette hires and fires. Many come from drug & alcohol rehab.
Jeanette decides which animal gets veterinary care.
Jeanette decides, which animals are being rescued. When ordinary people from Boca etc. come in desperation to surrender their animal, there is rarely any room. But she brings in dozens from Miami.
Jeanette orders the food (which is donated) and at time runs out….
Jeanette orders the litter, which at times runs out for days.
Jeanette is the one that decides who can adopt and what. Many possible adopters have left the shelter upset some even crying.
Jeanette is in charge of all cash, donations, Thrift Shop, cemetery, cremations etc.etc.
The people who could resolve this situation, are not interested.
The people who are crying for help, are being called liars.
