Inmate Dies Following Stabbing at ECI

i was at eci seen lots of locks n sockn n stabbings no 1 ever died but the guards let it happen when they see a inmate crowd a inmate its plain to see a stabbing or lock n sock n the guards think its fun n games

i was good friends with Tozzi Carter. he was staying in hagerstown for a min. i just cant see him dead.somthing needs to be done about the stabbings that go on in the jails

eci is off the hook they put u in rec room to fight like gladaitors when 2 much blood they spray oc spray.i was in most the units and its also gang and drugs like on the street

I was Tozzies fiance and let me first clairify something he wasnt serving a 5 year sentence he only had 3 years and was ordered to return to Baltimore at the patuxen facility to start rehab I spoke with him mostly everyday unless he was on lockdown which was most of the time due to an inmate being stabbed He never bothered anyone and stayed to himself knowing his time was brief. He had been denied medical attention, and was denied to see his counselor in regards to his being return to baltimore. Warden at the jail released a statement that something like this has never happened at this facility. but, I know for a fact that other inmates have been stabbed within the last month because everytime he called he was just gettting off of lockdown because of other stabbings. Anyone who has loved ones at this facility please know that there is some corrupt things going inside this facility. Keep check on your folks, I lost the love of my life please don't lose yours.

Sonia, so sorry to hear of your loss. My hubby is at ECI and I know it is not a well run prison at all. He is short and hopefully will be home soon. Sorry again.

1st off the compound is medium security the annex aka 420 is min security. i served 8 year sentence on the compound. i was in housing unit 6 and 7 then was moved to where i think the stabbing was unit 1.wile i was at eci all security levels was mixxed up. it also dont have nothing to to with the time you got for security.you can have 1 year and be max security so all this boo whoo over where he was housed is pointless and patxuaint is so backed up with all the nutt jobs the list is long if he had 3 years it may of taken a year to get in the spot and by then he could of had got parole. my next question is why the guy who got killed had a shank''aka home made knife also? with 3 years why a knife? was he running up dope bills are scared there is more to the story then what you see.like i said i lived there so i guess i see a little deeper into it.And eci is not safe as the warden says it it the place is dangerous

First I would like to give my condolences to Tobbies family. This is such a sad event. I understand that this is Prison, but OMG, these men deserve to feel secured and protected in their environment.

Regarding the statement "there is more to this story" you are probably right, however it still does not explain the lack of supervision that this prison is under at this time. There needs to be a collective effort to complain in hopes of correcting the concerns, or if not, more of these crimes will continue to happen within what should be the most "secured and safest" environments.

My thoughts and prayers to the family..

On another note... why would the prison still be in lockdown?

To austinz Im not trying to make any exscuses for tozzie Im simply saying what happened shouldn't had and maybe he did have a knife I dont know the prision isn't telling us anything but they will This I can say he wasn't a violent person so maybe he was in fear of his life so he had the knife for protection I spoke with him mostly every evening and he told me it was getting real crazy guy's were being stabbed on a regular like it was a daily routine if so why wasnt the prison doing more shakedowns to prevent more incidents. When the judge orders you to prision Im sure they are thinking maybe you can be rehabilitated not that this is it your going to your death . Now his life is over because he made some stupid disicions in life that put him there in the first place He'll never have the chance to prove himself

Sonia, my heart goes out to you. I cant even imagine what you have been going through. I worry about my man there every minute of every day. I hope you have found some peace.

Not yet Mindi its still so fresh its 2 weeks today and yet it feels like yesturday they informed me the man who completed my life would never be returning home to me I know with Gods help Ill find peace but until then Im taking it one day at a time I will also pray for the others at ECI May God keep them safe

Please be his voice and let other know what's going on. I don't know how to make the changes needed but I hope by getting the word out someone up high will do something. We live in a cruel world and some people don't deserve what they been sentence to.

The little guy who can't afford a lawyer and his family can't afford the 60 thousand to hire a lawyer because of all the charges they put on him does get done wrong. Your told take the plea or we will atleast get one charge to stick and you will do more time.

The lawyer he had never came to talk to him and get his side. How can he defend him. This is what is happening and unless people talk we will not know what is really going on.

I never cared before because I came from a family that lived by the laws. I never thought this would happen to my family. One day someone made a bad choice and with family not living there we had know idea this was going on. We were mad, and felt he messed up, do the time.

What we found out is he didn't do everything the media printed. The lawyer who talked to the family said he would get 3-5 yrs for drug charge for a first time. Of course, our family wanted to get him in rehab but that didn't happen. He received 15 yrs for first time criminal offense and is house with the murder.

The only person in control of our life is god. I hope he learns his lesson and I hope somewhere down the road they will treat people with a drug problem different.

The point I want to make is, let your voice be heard. I never cared but I do now as it has affected my family and someday will affect your family
if it already hasn't.

the prison dont care about you''inmate'' and for a inmate to have a knife they are doing some thing to be in fear.given its not a safe place but the place is what you make it.if you keep to your self dont run up dope bills chances are you wont get stabbed,and yes i seen lots of stabbings and locks and socks,but it is allways for a reason

My fiancee is at ECI and I've been going crazy cause I haven't heard from him either. He told me about the stabbing and my condolences to Tozzie's family and friends. This is a new experience for me and I'm not doing well at all. Are they on lockdown because my fiancee calls me everyday but I haven't heard from him since 11/18/09 and I'm so worried.

Its a breeding ground for Bloods.If you arent in a gang when you go in,you might be when you get out.ECI has provided alot of jobs to my community but it has also made crime go up

eci would be on lock down still cuz they prob shake down the whole place for knifes and drugs.when the guard got killed at jessup we was on lock down for 2 weeks at eci

there is lots of gangs i seen more ,bgf and dmi then bloods.very few crips.and it was the white boy flunkie junkies doing the stabbings for the other gangs

well first and formost i would like to thank all of you for your support and condolences. tozzie was a good man he had his down falls in life but he did not deserve to die . or should i say let GOD have his way .this should be a life lesson to those who have family or friends in the system . if we as a people would speak up for those who are in the jails and be there voice on the outside maybe we could save someone else life it is to late for my friend my daughter father but it could help someone else.so stay in prayer and let GOD watch over those who can't watch over themselves.always remember the T.L.C TOZZIE LEE CARTER.
