Obrien is a simple nimble will. He thought that he could hoodwink Liberty Township voters by claiming he was in favor of land acquisition but not construction by the County. OK Name one thing that Commissioner Obrien has done to stop the County Engineer from continuing to build the PKWY. with taxpayers money. And to top it off he voted to approve continued land acquisition byu the Engineer. If he was true to his colors he would have voted no until he had an agreement that the County would not use taxpayer funds to pay for roads that should be built by the developers. Instead he voted yes , but did not need to as Hanks and Thompson would have voted yes without Obrien and Obrein could have stuck true to his platform. What is Obrien doing, no initiatives, nothing. I voted for the guy but cannot continue to support his lack of comittment and diversions. Where is the accountability?? BTW Hanks and Thompson are no better as they want to build the PKWY for their buds in Delaware City.

Sawmill Parkway will be extended even if the county does not want it to. The choice then becomes, will it develop the way we want it to, or will it develop the way others want it to. To retain control, you make the choice to develop it on your own terms. At least Hanks and Thompson understand this. There is no backing for your position about benefiting unnamed friends in the city.

Thanks for being honest though, and admitting that O'Brien was a hypocrite when he voted to acquire the land to extend Sawmill. He double talks on so many issues to rationalize why he is not keeping a promise. He should just man-up and admit that he is breaking promises.

Ken has a low standard of values. He is just smoke and mirrors for the public. Inside he is dirty and deceptive. Shame on you Ken.

Actually it is not just the city that wants to push Sawmill through. When the commissioners were talking about taking "Bauserman's earmarked" money, they were inundated with letters and calls from TOWNSHIP Trustees. The trustees threatened, and "Bauserman's" money was safe. Sounds like the county wants Sawmill to go through pretty bad.

They were threatened by their Delaware City boys who need more commercial tax base to pay for the blight in the City proper., and of course Todd Hanks sales commissions from CEC.

His voting stance on Sawmill Pkwy will be his undoing. He will lose a large base that supported him during his first election. The only way to get back in good graces would be to do away with the road tax or at least place all of the "road tax" 2010 and beyond collections in the general fund . The road sales tax was supposed to be temporary as approved by the voters with a 10 year expiration in 2008. So according to the voters Bauserman should not be getting any sales tax money in 2009 and beyond. Except the former Commmissioners went back on their pledge to only approve a sales tax if approved by the voters which included not making a voter approved temporary tax permanent. It is time for O'brien to man up and either do something about the situation or forever be remembered as former
Commissioner Ken O'brien.

O'Brien needs to stay true to his campaign. If he is not in favor of using taxpayer funds to build the Parkway, then the sales tax should be eliminated or the funds used for other purposes.

O'Brien couldn't stay true if he had a level. But if he had a level he would be too arrogant to use it. He thinks he is the smartest man in the world, and that he has it all figured out.

Man up and at least stop the County from paying to complete Sawmill Parkway. Land acquisition is OK but do not continue to vote for land acquisiton if you don't have the funding issue re-addressed. Developers should pay for the Parkway. Don't buy the developers stick that their building the parkway will cause more commercial to be needed. Developers will always want something, they will barter anything like green space, landscaping etc. why give up the road construction costs as a bargaining chip for no commercial or apartments??

Full speed ahead, bring in the dozers, pave it right now - quit pissing and moaning we need the road and the jobs that will come when it is under construction and as it develops. Hire CEC. Raise Taxes. Let Yost do the legal work whatever it takes to get it done NOW.

Why not build it? In Delaware we voted down the casino issue, so why not generate revenue and jobs from this project? Sounds like a win win. I am glad that Ken lied to the voters. I am glad that his unethical and rationalized decision helped further the project. Of course, he is a liar and spin doctor...so he needs to go.

Chris Bauserman has been dragging his heels on the project. Plenty of money in his coffers but little or no activity other than land acquisition. Where in the County is Chris Bauserman?? Sounds like he has a second job with Todd Hanks somewhere which is distracting him from doing anything.

In these economic times why in the world should the County build Sawmill Parkway?? Land acquisition and route specification , well if you must ok, but why shouldn't developers be responsible for building the road?? That way all the money in Bauserman's account could be available for other needs of the County or perhaps you could even consider doing away with the road sales tax??

Because that was what was decided a long-time ago.

Build it now we want the jobs, the development and the taxes and jobs that will come with all of the development. Big Box, Little Box, any Box, apartments, condos, houses, bring it on right now.

So if the Commissioners get their act together we can make it through the bad times without making the bad past decisions of the previous Commissioners.

The commissioners already tried to apportion some of the large carry-over Bauserman has. But your township trustees threatened all of them. They want the parkway built. And if the money cannot be used for anything else, why not allow it to be developed. The county would benefit greatly from the increased tax base. If you have a problem with it, talk to your township trustees.

Liberty Township trustees are not on record for keeping Bauserman's funds for the Parkway. Maybe Guzzo, but she is now gone!! Just Delaware Township which means Delaware City and Tommy Thompson's buds.

Since there is plenty money in Bauserman's account, why not drop the sales tax. It was only supposed to be temporary in the first place??

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Capricorn

Confusion reigns supreme today, especially when dealing with financial matters. You could get into a muddle when sorting out your accounts or when working out how much you owe someone, even though you may not notice this at the time. It certainly isn't the day for parting with large sums of money because the chances of something going wrong are very high.
