Good luck and just know that at some point the people of Deleware county will stop supporting people just because the republican party's backing them. REMEMBER Davis was backed and hired by that same committee!
Dumb, your name says it all. Your and idiot.
I never said the republican party was right hiring Davis. I'm already in the OFFICE not department. Name calling is a last resort of the weak minded. You have no clue, imput or experience in any response you have made. It will be obvious to all future posters on this forum. I actually upheld some measure of your responses, but since I am striking a nerve with you.....you must resort to such measures. The great thing is I have a high school diploma. You probably have a doctorate and still can't express your opinions and thoughts in a reasonable and grammatically correct manner. I guess I paid attention in school.

He has never managed a department of that size.

He has never shown the ability to manage a department in distress and hold people accountable. And he is a good old boy in Delware going back to the Al Myers days.

Delaware needs and deserves someone that is going to bring new ideas and hold people accountable. We need CHANGE!

So maybe Shafer was the answer. What people need to be held accountable? The office employees continued working despite Davis trying to make his position a political stepping stone and personal hookup for women.
Shafer never handles a department of the size either, to be fair. Columbus has many more employees but he didn't manage all of them. Commander isn't chief. wAnd commander of a public relations division isn't the same. Although I still think he could have done the job.
I've never heard of Martin being classified in the good ol boy category. Certainly Al had that mentality. Davis' wasn't a good ol boy, he was trying to start his new blue chipper regime under his micromanagement, of course.
Everyone has faults. Martin does, Shafer does, Rose does, Savage does and certainly Davis does...romanticism died out a long time ago. Mankind is not basically good with society corrupting (and politics). There is no perfect person.

Any good leader will hold their people accountable. Davis only held people accountable that were not his favorites...and only accountable to rules that he chose---despite favorites breaking those rules time and time again.

A good leader also has persons in place to manage an OFFICE of this size. It's called delegation of authority. A CEO of a company has managers in the same respect. All take care of their respective divisions. There's a reason there are sergeants, lieutenants, and captains in place who actually manage the OFFICE of this size. Going from a 6 million dollar budget to a 17 million dollar budget is the same. Same things need bought, maintained etc...its the same job with more people managing these things.

The problem (as I see it) is that ORC set the salary for sheriff. A commander as CPD and most private sector jobs at a senior level pay more than the $86k ish that a county sheriff gets paid.

So we are looking for the best, that is willing to take a lower salary, that is not wanted by private sector and who won't make the office look stupid.

Russ Martin will coast on his retirement and make a couple nickels from DCSO.

Probably so. There is always someone that could be better. A dictatorship is the most efficient form of government too, but who could you trust to do it? Or even absolute monarchy...same problem.

People want tobe sheriff because of the political power.

The new chief at DPD could make more money than what the ORC say Russ or new the Sheriff in November will make!

Who is the answer to that question that applied? The lesser evil, if you will. Kind of like the presidential candidates....they all suck. They are all human.

Set by ORC and based on population of the county. Jim Karnes made a lot more in franklin county than here. The problem is this county has grown exponentially but still has a backwoods mentality

Oh we are in agreement! Of who applied, Russ Martin was the best for the 5 months.

But who should put themselves on the ballot as an independent! There are lots of great law enforcement professionals and Delaware deserves better and there is a lot of work to be done.

Martin will have to clean up the mess plumpy Vance made in his short time as acting sheriff.

Sorry, Russ you will have to eat crow and pay out all thanks to Vance's inability to manage for a short time.

Delaware County, you will be paying big, especially to one ex deputy.

Sit back and watch the show!

Stupid move, the deep pockets will have to pay!!!

Davis made decisions, Martin has his head up way too far in his ass. Get a clue. Martin will piss off a lard sized deputy sooner than later and then what?
Mark Drum and Martin do not get along now do they? This should be fun to watch. Drum your dirty ass ways are coming to light.

Wait and see. You can't play dirty all the time and expect to never get caught.

So Martin willed the thug to attempt to break out? Are you really this stupid or just so frikkin unhappy you try anything you can to besmirch an honest man?
I have known the sheriff for years and the attacks on this forum border on ludicrous. Oh, and I do not work for him so there goes half of your idiotic conspiracy theories.
So, FL...enlighten us on how this P.O.S. climbing the fence is his fault?

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Cancer

Take care because it's a rather downbeat day. You feel as though you have the cares of the world on your shoulders, and maybe you have. You've certainly got to cope with a lot of responsibility and duty, and there could also be delays and disappointments that need to be negotiated. Yes, it's a fairly miserable day but try to rise above it, otherwise you'll soon start to feel really wretched and sorry for yourself.
