When you are in prison the truth is not always told. For example, not too long ago...a man was taken to the hospital after his jaw was broken. The prison guards allowed this fight to take place as they watched from the day room. I wonder if the prison guards get a thrill from watching the inmates fight and sometimes die from medical negligence? In this case the man had a broken jaw for two days before he was taken to the hospital.

According to the prison officials this man broke his jaw from falling from his bunk. This is not true and shame on the prison guards who allow this to happen. You should lose your jobs for your irresponsibilty and incompetence.

From a concerned citizen who knows the truth. Shame on you!!!

C.O.'s think they're the Sh*t. If a C.O. allows inmates to fight, then that's unethical. WTF!!! What is the world coming too?

Soccer is serious business to many. But last Sunday, May 24, in Coleraine, Northern Ireland, it became deadly serious, as supporters of one soccer team went on a drunken rampage, and killed an innocent man on the street.

Scotland's Glasgow Rangers are known as "the Protestant team," while Glasgow Celtic are "the Catholic team." Celtic had dominated the Scottish Premier League for the last three years, till Sunday's Rangers 3-0 victory over Dundee United sealed the championship.

But then the troubles began, as Protestant supporters of Glasgow Rangers in Coleraine drank heavily, and then rampaged through the town, looking for Catholics to attack. The unfortunate victim was 49-year-old Kevin McDaid, a father of four who did volunteer youth work, and had encouraged local Catholics to cooperate with the mostly Protestant Northern Ireland police. Mr. McDaid lost his life at the hands of the drunken mob and that David Letterman made remarks about Palin's daughter being a whore and a hooker. If Letterman gets fired, I plan to take his place on late night television and I will do well since that I am a christian and Letterman is of satan due to his foul language and perversion. A christian needs to take his place so the world can live right.

Soccer games are often the point of religious tensions in Northern Ireland, where many pubs ban admission to customers wearing soccer jerseys or scarves, for fear of violence.

But how can all this be? "Christians" fighting "Christians" over soccer? What sort of "Christians" are these, anyway? Don't both Protestants and Catholics believe in the instructions of Jesus Christ about love for our neighbor? And how can that possibly square with violence, and even killings, across sectarian divides based on soccer allegiances?

Down through history, many have pointed to all the killings and suffering humanity has brought on itself in the name of religion, and questioned the value of religion. Northern Ireland itself went through a terrible phase of sectarian strife, bordering on civil war, known as "The Troubles," from the late 1960's till the Belfast Agreement of 1998. The province is still recovering from that brutal phase of its history.

But shouldn't religion serve to lower the level of brutality, not to raise it? And if religion serves as a stimulus for man killing man, shouldn't we re-examine our definition of religion?

Let's take a look at the ancient writings. It was Moses who first told us to "love your neighbor as yourself," (Leviticus 19:18), an injunction quoted by Jesus, who told His followers that this is the second greatest commandment of all (Matthew 22:39; Mark 12:31; Luke 10:27). It's even recorded three times in the New Testament gospels, for emphasis.

So, if we're looking for true Christianity, surely we should look first to one basic law: to love our neighbor as ourselves. Where we find that practiced, we should find the true followers of Jesus Christ.

How about the fools become productive law abiding citizens and stay out of prison. That way they don’t have to worry about their booty holes being stretched out or receiving ass whoopins??

These prisoners don't care about reform, they don't want to be productive citizens. Many of them just get out of jail, and wait to be supported by their babies mommas, who are on welfare, so sad and not fair to us tax payers. Oh and now the govenor is doing all these cuts, there wont be anymore rehablitation for these fools(like you say).

"Very few AMERICANS have raised their voices in opposition to our shameful prison policies and I am convinced that's primarily because INMATES ARE
VIEWED AS LESS THAN HUMAN."
BOB HERBERT, NY TIMES COLUMNIST

DEHUMANIZATION....Is the psychological process of demonizing the enemy, making them feel less than human and hence not worth human treatment.

DEHUMANIZE...To deprive of human qualities as pity, kindness, individuality, or creativity, MAKE INHUMAN OR MACHINE LIKE.

ARE PRISONS ACTUALLY DEHUMANIZING CENTERS?

During slavery, the slave masters not only dehumanized the slaves but themselves as well.

The BUREAU OF JUSTICE statistics report in June of this year revealed that a record 7.2 MILLION
HUMAN BEINGS (PEOPLE) are under supervision in the CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM.

THE COST ABOUT $45 BILLION A YEAR.

ARE DEHUMANIZING CENTERS THE BEST USE OF YOUR TAX DOLLARS??

SOME MAY THINK SO.....I DO NOT!!!

CAGING HUMAN BEINGS IS NOT THE ANSWER.

On any given day, it is estimated that about 70,000 inmates in U.S.Prisons are psychotic.

Anywhere FROM 200,000 TO 300,000 male and female
prison inmates-suffer from mental disorders such
as SCHIZOPHRENIA, BIPOLAR DISORDERS and MAJOR DEPRESSION.

PRISONS hold 3 times more people with mental illness than do PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITALS, and U.S. prisoners have rates of mental illness that are up
to 4 times greater than rates in the general population.

These are the findings of a report by HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH released October 22,2003.

The U.S.PRISON SYSTEM AS THE NATIONS PRIMARY MENTAL HEALTH CARE FACILITIES.

These prisoners are victimized by other inmates,
punished by prison staff for behavior ssociated with their illnesses....

The factors that contribute to a person being in jail in the first place RELATE TO INADEQUATE ACCESS TO QUALITY BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICE. without these services, people with mental illnesses often engage in behavior that captures the attention of law enforcement and lead to arrests..........

Frequently, the prisoners end up in ISOLATION UNITS.

In the most EXTREME CASES, CONDITIONS ARE TRULY HORRIFIC the report stated, adding mentally ill prisoners locked in segregation with no treatment at all, confined in FILTHY AND BEASTLY HOT CELLS,
left for days covered in FECES THEY HAVE SMEARED OVER THEIR BODIES,taunted, abused or ignored by prison staff, given so little water during the summer heat waves THAT THEY DRINK FROM THEIR TOILET BOWLS."

"On May 20,2009, the New York State Legislature passed Bill S01290A, which " provides for the care and custody of pregnant female inmates before, during and after delivery; PROHIBITS the use of restraints of any kind from being used during the transport of such female prisoner to a hospital for the purpose of giving birth, UNLESS such prisoner is a substantial flight risk, whereupon handcuffs may be used; PROHIBITS the use of any restraints during labor; REQUIRES the presence of corrections personnel during such prisoners transport to and from the hospital and during her stay in hospital.
Its called the ANTI-SHACKLING MEASURE."

The new law will make New York one of just FOUR States IN THE COUNTRY THAT RESTRICT THE USE OF RESTRAINTS ON INCARCERATED WOMEN DURING CHILDBIRTH.

California and Illinois were the first to put any legal limits on this practice-in both cases AFTER A SERIES OF LAWSUITS FORCED the States to overhaul their disasterously inadequate prison health care system.

Before the restriction, in Illinois, it was STANDARD PRACTICE to CHAIN female inmates to their hospital beds BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER the
births of their babies.

As one advocate told the NY TIMES-" WHAT WAS COMMON WAS ONE WRIST AND ONE ANKLE." (A policy that frighteningly enough, looks positively benovolent compared to KANSAS, NORTH CAROLINA'S AND WASHINGTON'S, which allow women to be LOCKED IN BELLY CHAINS AND LEG IRONS WHILE THEY ARE IN LABOR, according to a 2006 investigation by AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL.)

FOUR STATES RESTRICT SHACKLES FOR WOMEN PRISONERS DURING CHILDBIRTH-FOUR....THAT LEAVES 46 TO GO.

Hello Jackie you are right our prison system is inhuman and prisoners who suffer from mental disorders should not be in prison but a hospital, maybe that was the reason the person committed the crime to begin with, for example it has been proven that people who suffer from Schizophrenia and other mental disorders hear voices, but that does not matter to our justice system, throw them in prison and let the tax payers pay for it, being a tax payer myself I would feel beeter if we the people would at least try and help them. Responding to lily75 I just want to inform you that not everyone in prison is guilty and this is from life experience you can be in the wrong place at the wrong time and due to the new special circumstance law that was past by our legislation even if you were there and not even participating you to are guilty, so know us the tax payers are paying for a stupid law that makes know since, yes my son is incarcerated for just the thing brought up in a good christian home being obediant to his parents and still our justice system failed, so do not tell me there is not innocent people in prison there is and it is probably more then our prison system will let known becauxe who would have to compensate these prisoners if we release them tax payer so watch what you say it might be you or yours, just a word of advice never judge a book by it's cover you never know what is inside, and Tired you are pothetic and I am LOL.... HI GINA,
Thank you for reading my post!

GINA,I can only imagine how difficult it is for you spiritually, emotionally and finacially to have your son away in a correction system that seems to do more harm than good.

I know you worry constantly about your sons safety and well being.

GINA,from what you have shared with us....I can see that you feel you raised a good son. THAT IS A GOOD FEELING!!

The problem is he AND his family members are now
caught up in a NIGHTMARE.

MOST AMERICANS hope that all parties the victim, the defendant and both families will conclude that the trial was fair and if convicted
the sentence imposed is justified and fair.

Many AMERICANS, are beginning to hear absolute horror stories... resulting in questioning why there is so little emphasis on TRUTH in our court systemS ....PROCEDURE AND WINNING appear to be more important.

RE: NOT GUILTY OR INNOCENT....
There has been 241 post-conviction DNA EXONERATIONS IN U.S. HISTORY.

These stories are becoming more familiar as more INNOCENT people gain their FREEDOM through post-conviction DNA testing.

The common themes that run through these cases--
from global problems like POVERTY AND RACIAL ISSUES,LIKE EYEWITNESS MISIDENTIFICATION, INVALID OR IMPROPER FORENSIC SCIENCE, OVERZEALOUS POLICE AND PROSECUTORS, AND INEPT DEFENSE COUNSEL...can not be ignored and continue to plague our criminal justice system.

SEVENTEEN people have been sentenced to DEATH before DNA PROVED THEIR INNOCENCE AND LED TO THEIR RELEASE.

The average sentence served by DNA EXONEREES has
been TWELVE YEARS.

About SEVENTY PERCENT of those exonerated by DNA
testing are members of minority groups.

In almost FORTY PERCENT of the cases profiled on the INNOCENT PROJECTS SITE...THE ACTUAL PERPETRATOR HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED BY DNA TESTING.

EXONERATIONS have been won in 33 states and Washington D.C.

THE PROSECUTION AND CONVICTION OF THE INNOCENT IS CLEARLY NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM.

INNOCENCE PROJECT founder BARRY SCHECK SAYS," THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM MUST FIND A WAY TO CHALLENGE WRONGFUL CONVICTIONS IN WHICH DNA TESTS PLAY NO PART."

GINA,how old is your son?
Are you able to visit him frequently?
I understand collect phone calls from prison are
exhorbitant,,,,real price gouging.

What would you like to see happen as far as your son and his trial and sentence?

MR. OSCAR CRUZ, AGE 23, WAS MURDERED IN A PRISON RIOT ON MARCH 19,2009.

MR.CRUZ, WAS SERVING A THIRTY SEVEN YEAR (37 YEAR)
PRISON SENTENCE FOR....FIRST DEGREE ARMED ROBBERY AND GANG ACTIVITY IN LA COUNTY.

WHAT IS FIRST DEGREE ARMED ROBBERY?

DID MR. CRUZ KILL OR MAIM SOME ONE DURING ROBBERY?

WHAT EXACTLY IS GANG ACTIVITY....DID MR CRUZ COMMIT THIS FIRST DEGREE ARMED ROBBERY WITH A GANG
OR ALONE?

MR. CRUZ HAD BEEN IN PRISON SINCE 2005.
SO, AT THE AGE OF 19 YEARS OLD, HE WAS SENTENCED TO 37 YEARS IN PRISON.

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT MR CRUZ.

WAS THIS MR CRUZ'S FIRST OFFENSE?

WAS THERE A TRIAL?

THE CAUSE OF THE RIOT WAS UNDER INVESTIGATION IN MARCH OF 2009. IT IS NOW AUGUST. IS THE INVESTIGATION COMPLETE?

WHAT DID THE INVESTIGATION REVEAL?

WHAT MEASURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN TO MINIMIZE THIS HAPPENING AGAIN?

ARE RIVAL GANG MEMBERS, IS THE SAME PRISON, IN THE SAME AREA?

PERHAPS, SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS NOT HOUSING RIVAL GANGS IN THE SAME PRISON.... NOT IN THE SAME AREA.

.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY OTHER INFO ABOUT THIS YOUNG MAN OR THE CAUSE OF THE RIOT?
