Del Rio ,Eagle Pass rivalry

I was recently in Eagle Pass and could not believe the growth that city is experiencing. Back in the day it was Del Rio that was ahead in the game,why the sudden change?They are even constructing a brand new state of the art High School stadium.

told me that Del Rio does not want to expand/grow.

I am from eagle pass and yes it has grown alot throughout the years, bad thing is the invation of Mexico that makes our community dirty. However when it comes to celebrations its a great success.

it is because the current business owners and city officials are inept, and want to keep the "good ol Boy" system intact. They view progress as a dirty word. The only reason that this town is surviving is because of the AFB.

I am a HOOT at parties,but you are very correct at what you wrote. Del Rio will probably be worse off than Eagle Pass,if they did not have Laughlin Air Force Base in town. Like I said before, Del RIO does not have the same traffic from Mexico,that Eagle Pass does.

I'm from eagle pass and i think the casino is making it popular. I've always liked Del Rio too and i think it's a nice city, have some friends there.

well, if it weren't for the people from Mexico, EP would still be like Quemado dude! so it's a privelage to have them come and spend so EP can continue growing..

i think what happening here in EP is its experiencing growth because of the commercial traffic Mexicans bring. people from Mexico love to shope here so the mayor tries to bring more big chain stores and restauraunts to this city. give it 10-15 years and EP will be as big as Laredo.. by the way, i love DR too. but i wonder why it stopped growing??

I'm from Eagle Pass and I love Del Rio, the people and the cleanliness of your city. I have friends in Del Rio and would you say its true that the AFB is keeping Del Rio alive? The Lake also attracts alot of tourism during the summer. I fish there as often as I can and I spend at least $70 per outting in Del Rio. Gas, Food, munchies, etc...Viva DelRio and Eagle Pass!
