He's probably just doing this to get to stay in the hospital now that the Socialist President passed his health bill through the House. This kind of thing never happened when W was around.

People just never fail to astound me with how psycho they are. Let's see here....she doesn't love me anymore and doesn't want me...soooo let's throw some gas on myself and set myself on fire. There!! Now I'm gone and she got what she wanted.?? Why can't people love and respect themselves enough to just MOVE ON! You came into this world single, what's wrong with leaving single?? You can't expect someone else to love you, if you don't love yourself. Personally, I always wore a wedding ring, because if I wasn't married to someone here on earth, It was a personal relationship between me and God.

That is increadibly sad.

No, when W was around, no one could AFFORD to buy enough gas to set themselves on fire! Honestly, it never ceases to amaze me how quick some people are to take the most innocuous story ripped out of nowhere and put their own political spin on it!

This is a devastating personal tragedy, not only since this man is my cousin, but because people all over the world suffer forms of personal, unexpected grief like this everyday. Everyone can hide behind the veil of mindless, anonymous, despicable chatter on the web, but truth be told, would you still be making senseless jokes about a loved one or relative regardless of whether the result was a succumbing to cancer, an auto accident, or an accidental shooting? None of you, including me, have any true idea of the extent of pain this man was suffering internally before he choose to do this. There is nothing humorous of funny about. Move on folks.

Umm... Your cousin is an idiot. He brought the jokes upon himself!

Sad case of immolation, but we should take note that he didn't try to kill anyone else. Hope he makes it.

I was there and the guy was in extreme pain even thou he did it to himself. This is not funny and the President did not have anything to do with it. The store clerk is a nice lady and things just happen sometimes.

How can we as fellow human beings be so callous? A person does not do this if they are 'in this realm'. I hope people have more compassion for any of you if for some reason your mind decides to venture off somewhere and lose touch with reality. It happened to me a few years ago and complete with hearing voices and everything. You have no idea what it's like to be inside a mind that is unravelling. It's like being in a nightmare you can't wake up from. Trust me, people don't do this because they are well! What exactly did he do to bring ridicule on himself? His brain is malfunctioning? Sane people don't do this. Do you really think people set out to do ignorant things to make themselves look like idiots? The only thing good about it is that IF he lives, he will be getting the mental help he needs. And to those of you who may comment on me having said I went through my time in lala land a few years ago -- it was a chemical imbalance and once they righted the chemicals I could see straight again. It's like a diabetic needing insulin. Don't think I don't know I was nuts....I just had family who saw it and did something about it. Maybe this man doesn't have that. Is there not such a thing as compassion anymore?

This is horrific and not at all funny. No, this man did not "get what he deserved"! He was obviously so deeply wounded that he was not capable of dealing with his loss. How dare anyone make fun of anyone so mentally wounded and unbalanced! This man needed help and I am appalled that anyone would comment so callously.

Sorry to say but no I do not think there is compassion in this world anymore, people are to wrapped up in material things to even bother to notice what really going on in this world and buying into anything & everything they see on TV or what they want to hear and see. Never mind that their own minds play tricks on them, but everybody else has a problem, not them... I know both sides of the pain this man is going through myself.. I was mentally unstable but AFTER I caught on fire at the Gas station in 96', mine was accidental, but still the pain is still the same, a mental scar is much worse than a a Physical on, I know I have both. 3rd degree burns 67% of my body and the mental scaring because of ass holes like above this comment.... No one has the right to speak unless they have walked in ones shoes & it seems that most of you here have not, so shut up....
