Precious Baby Died in Crittenden

On Sunday Jan 4th, 2009 my little niece Kiara was at the little antique store next to the post office. She was with the owner Brandon Barnhill when he called 911 saying she fell back and hit her head, she was pronounced dead less than an hour later.
The first thought was accidents happen and to be honest everyone was so stunned, no one had time to think. Now we are coming to find out he will not cooperate with the police hired a lawyer and the police will only say what he said happened did not happen.
My family is so distraught that they lost this little girl that meant everything to us and she would have been 13 months tomorrow.
The worst part is not knowing what happened, whether it was an accident or this man did something to purposely hurt her.
I am asking for any info on this man or if anything has been heard or said. Any help would be welcomed. And please pray for my family to be able to get through and survive this.

Please, if possible, fill me in with the following details...
I'm guessing that Kiara was your sister's baby. Was she in the care of both your sister and Brandon Barnhill or just Brandon Barnhill at the time this happened?
Was January 4, 2009 definitely the date of the incident?
Do you know any more about what Brandon Barnhill told 911 or the police?
If Kiara's mother was not there, do you know what her feelings/thoughts are about what happened?
Is there an open investigation, or is this a closed case? If it is being investigated, do you know by which police department -- local/county/
state? Do you have any contacts?
Were there any articles in the paper?
Again, please know that I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. I am actually on the Fathers side of the family. Yes, this was on Jan 4th, the mom was not there she was at the store. The mom really does not know what to believe, but who would ever want to admit that someone you trusted could hurt your baby.
At first Brandon told 911 that she lost her balance while getting her dressed and she fell back and hit her head, now he has changed it that he was dancing with her and fell with her.
At this point it does not matter; we feel he is guilty for if nothing else making us go through this.
This is being investigated by Kentucky state police and I know they can't really say anything until they are done but the father can't even get the detective to return his calls. The family have only talked to the detective once and all he really had to say was in the 16 years he has been doing this job he has never seen anything like this case. But again he can tell us nothing.
It has been 3 weeks ago and my family still has no idea what happened this precious little girl. The father and grandma were very active in this little girl’s life, where they had her anywhere from 2-4 days a week.
It’s sad enough to watch them go through having to lose her, but also to watch them always thinking that this monster made her suffer is beyond words.

Yes, my family finally got to meet with the detective on Monday.

I am happy to see that your family has had contact with the investigators, and I pray that they can provide you with the all of the information your family deserves.

Was Brandon Barnhill at the funeral services for
Kiara, or has he tried to reach out to your family in any way?

I am so sorry to hear about your family's lost. What a terrible thing to happen. Where in this world was this kids Mother? Does she not listen to the news or read the news paper on this kind of stuff happening all the time. I hope that they find the truth and whom ever did this gets life. Also I hope that the Mother gets something out of this also. Why leave your baby with whom ever ??????? My prayers are with you and your family. I know it's hard but have faith in God.

Don't tell me that nobody knows this guy. I know it's a small city where everybody knows everybody. How would you feel if it was your baby. Please help this family.

It is sad when the world has come to this. Children abused, children beaten, and before you know it children are murdered. I am not sure if people just don't care unless it happens to them, or people are just to scared to be involed. I do know I will stand for Kiara and my whole family will stand for her also.

First off I am very sorry to hear what happened. I know this man. I could never imagine him purposely hurting a little child. He is a good man and kind a man. Again I am terribly sorry to hear about this but I personally think accidents happened. And it sickens me to even think that someone could think that he murdered a child.

First off a good man or not, he lied. A good man would not have to change his story or fail his lie detector test. 2nd a good man would not make a family go through this. And personally you being sicked is nothing compared to watching this family fall apart because they lost this precious little girl.

Please do not respond or defend him, because no matter wheather this man is innocent or guilty, he will always be anything but a good man to this family.

Angry, I am so angry I can hardly make it through the day. I am angry because I want answers, I am angry because no one understands. I am angry because I want her back; I want to protect her from all bad things. She was not my daughter but I could not have loved her more if she was my own. I am angry because I had to go to the doctor to be puts on meds because I cannot cope. I am angry because the meds make feel nothing, but I could not live day to day without them.
