The article on Monkids was extremely biased. It only spoke of extreme owners who pierce their monkeys ears, etc. I know of over 40 monkeys, & I own 2 myself. All of them have their canines intact and do not have their ears pierced. Yes they are treated and loved as part of the family, BUT they are respected as monkeys and allowed to do monkey things such as forage for food outside, bask in the sun, and groom each other as well as their human caretakers. The "monkids" article put all monkey owners in the extreme category. It is the same as putting all dog owners as dog fighters, becasue of a few who are irresponsible and choose to abuse their animals. And if you read the article carefully, the family who Ms. Balona intreviewed had had their monkey for 18 years, way past the age of maturity. That right there dispels the myth that all monkeys are given up at maturity.
