Hell NO!!!

If his big brother wasn't the Police Chief in Dayton, I wouldn't hesitate to vote for Mikey. I can't see me voting to give one family that much control over the law enforcement in the county.

I started this poll and was the first one to vote NO. We need another Sneed in Rhea County about as much as we need another Bush in the white house.

In any event, I think he will win. When he does win (doesn't matter how) the results once certified will stand and 80% of the county will bitch and moan about it. Then by hell the non voting, non speaking up bastards will have what they earned, right? For people like myself, I feel confident that no matter who wins sheriff will not effect me. I am law abiding, period. I am self preserved and can speak for myself and refuse to ever be victimized without some sort of equalization in my mind. Those that know me, know that. The biggest fear factor Sneed will face will be a trird party candidate in the General Election. Hmmmm, maybe I'll add my name to that list. NOT.

Yes I would and will vote for Mike Sneed. I do not care he is a Sneed. He is a good boy and will make a good sheriff. Right now I would vote for Bozo the clown if he ran against Neal. Our current Sheriff is never around, will not call anyone back, snubbs everyone because he is to good and the county is turning back to the old wild days with shootings, stabbings, wrecks that are fatal, drunks. We have no law enforcement in the county. I never see a county patrol car come by my house. You can find them if you go through Dayton but Dayton has a police department. I do not care if he is a Sneed. We cant take another 4 years of what we have now. But we may start seeing more of the Sheriff now that he is going to have some competition. He hasnt ran against anyone yet and I believe this has made him cocky. He dont think he can be beat. Some of his people have been spreading the we dont need the Sneeds back. Well we need someone to keep our streets safe. I will be voting for Mike Sneed and if he snubbs the people who put him in I will try to get him voted out. People need to realize that we are not getting any policing in the county. Read the papers and watch the news. People are stealing people blind and nothing is being done. Mike Sneed I believe will be his own man and so I say who cares what his last name is. I think that is so crazy not to vote for someone just because of there name. Lets Get a new Sheriff whether it is Sneed, Denton, Newell, Marler,Kday who care any of the above over Neal. Hes too good for us any way he needs to go!

Great speech and I totally agree. Then again, it isn't so much the last "name" it is the person with that last name and what it stands for. Sure, I would say a common slug worm would beat what we have now, but we do not need to step back in time. We do not need that old "road block-smell beer on your breathe - going to jail" mentality. But I do agree, we need anything but what we have. Hey, we have a year and lots can happen, right?

Hello RC Resident. Just to bring you up to par on what we have been posting here at Topix,(the regular posters here I mean). We have one of our very own Topix posters that is going to run for sheriff. She goes by the screen name Sunshine1. Perhaps we should add her name to the list of possible candidates, however I don't think she will be able to run under the name Sunshine1. I refer you to the topic Would Sunshine1 Make a Good Sheriff? Please read that topic and you will see some of her views and plans she has as sheriff.

Exactly, as to a county official. Cities are completely different. A city isn't nothing more than a corporation given special authority granted to it by our legislature. A simple stroke of a pen here, an oyez there and poof, a city charter can be revoked or repealed. Remember, 99 Reps and 33 senators run the state. That isn't many to make or change law. Dayton should also be mandated to revert BACK to it's original charter and Bob Vincent jailed for his actions in trying to manipulate city power. This isn't some 3rd world country. I say he should be jailed.

Now with that said, who's gonna do it?

Too bad we don't have constables anymore, one of them would have probably had his ass locked up, the chief too if he interfered. See folks, it really is that simple. That is exactly one real reason they abolished them. Seven commissioners standing to be indicted by constables so what do the commissioners do, they abolish them. What a great way to avoid jail. Shit, maybe I'll run for commissioner and make a resolution and have 2/3rds vote with me making commissioners Honorary Dictators and all county elections voided. Why not. It would merely be another lawless Bill passed. Remember, a law isn't a law until it is challenged and a court says it is a law, all the way up to the US Sup Ct.
