I was wondering who made all-stars, players and coaches. What age group are you talking about?

It can be political until you get to the more developed ages like 9/10 and up when they have statistics to look at which is how they oughta be picked but sometimes arent anyway.

are you really clueless to how it works. coaches kids make all stars, even at the 5 and 6 year age level. yes kids who have parents as coaches do tend to excel more at sports and sometimes deserve all star its really about the coaches living through their kids and the kids are pushed hard sometimes to hard. my kids are grown but did participate in sports, never made all stars but were good players and enjoyed the sport. i spent many hours at practices and games and observed overbearing parents pushing their kids. of course this is and always will be something observed at all little league parks everywhere. when you sign your kids up for sports just remember its not always a pleasant experience because of overbearing parents and coaches but just remember to be positive and let you kids enjoy the experience and when faced with ball park drama just make it a teaching experience for your child on being part of a team, having fun, and making childhood memories. dont let a bad all star pick ruin a kids fun. its about the kids not the parents egos

This is so true. I just feel so bad for some of these children. Their parents yell and scream at them and sometimes even curse. It can't possible be fun for them.

It is good discipline and teaches the kids how the "real world" works! The more you push and motivate them brings out their fullest potential and makes them strive to be the best! Try it sometime and your child may be an ALLSTAR! So go come and baby and pet your child to death and teach him/her to be a loser while we enjoy the game. Thank You!

Not sure if its just coaches kids that are picked for all stars but it looks like theiur picking the right ones. Alot of state champ signs at the ball fields so the all stars in Dayton must be doing something right.

Thank You! my child is not petted. im guessing you are one of THOSE loud mouth parents and coaches that ruin it for kids who are there to play and win and have a good time and good childhood memories. my kid doesnt play to boost MY ego. but im guessing your intentions with your child and sports is probably an attempt to fulfill some selfish need to feel good about yourself. need i go on??? respond back please because i believe your attempt to defend your actions at the park will drudge up some inferiority issues you have in your personal adult life which you channel into your "athletic" child star who will never, if you have anything to do with it, fail at anything in his child or adult life. go ahead set your son or daughter up for a life of thinking that they can never lose at anything. when they get in the real world and realize dad or mom cant make sure they get that desired job like that star position on the team...well i think you know how this ends...take a long look at your self...

Kids who are taught to be better than other kids and think they are better than other kids, are kids in sad shape. There are a lot of them in this county accompanied by some parents who are just like them and have taught them they are better than other kids. I agree with the post, coaches kids are usually who are picked for all-stars. Talk about bad sportsmanship at the ballfield, go down to almost any game and you can tell how these better parents get mad, scream and yell if there little prince or princess is not the star of the game. Bad sports, bad parenting, and rude kids. Yeah, if your kid was good and did not make the all stars your kid can really can see how real life is. When you work your butt off and then another kid is picked because dad is the coach. It stinks. That is life in a small town and we can see how many players from here who think they are all that never end up in the big leagues.

I tell you what... i agree with some of the things they do.. and some things i dont agree with.. i have a child in the 5/6 leaque and a child in the 7/8 league.. i didnt in no way expect my 5 year old to make because she is not all star material. However my 8 year old has played his heart out. Practiced on and off the field and especially in the games. I heard several parents mentioning that he would be perfect all star material. His coach agreed as well.. so my question here is.. Why didnt he make it?? The only answer i can seem to come up with is all the coaches on our team had kids on our team.. their kids made all stars and several of them couldnt play. Didnt show up for games or practices. I don't see that as fair at all. I think they should have people that watch the kids play through out the season and make the decisions for all stars.. not the coaches. It would only make it fair. Just my opinion.
