Facts vs Opinions

"It is not the facts which guide the conduct of men, but their opinions about facts, which may be entirely wrong. We can only make them right by discussion." Norman Angell If facts were all it took to get people to agree, newspaper editorial pages would disappear. One person argues a position eloquently, based on a set of facts. The next day, someone else argues a different position, equally eloquently, based on the same set of facts. We look at facts from our own perspective, using them to bolster what we already beleive. If we talk with those who disagree, often what we explore is not facts, but perspectives. This can be a good thing, because we can't change facts, but we can change our perspectives. Previously, union first elected officials on our BOE deferred the "facts" of our school budget to the "opinions" of the Springboro Education Association officials; and the SEA opinions of voters civic duty in meeting demands of union first was the only voice our previous elected officials would allow. With the election of new board representatives who allow "transparency" in our school budgeting process, Springboro residents now have more discussion dispelling the "opinions of the SEA" and more influence with a greater voice in our local politics of school government. You are encouraged to check the BOE website and mark your calendar to attend the Budget/Finance public meeting on Friday, May 11th at 9:00 a.m. at district office; on Thursday, May 17th at 7:30 p.m. at Springboro High School. Please note: the regularly scheduled budget/finance committee meeting on Friday, May 18th at 9:00 a.m. at district office; And the regularly scheduled school board meeting on the 22nd is NOW re-scheduled for Thursday, May 24th at 7:00 p.m. at Springboro High School. All meetings are open to the public.

Mr. Anderson is another socialist. Mrs Babble and Tiffany Carlisle saying that we all need to let the school employees run the schools and stop micromanaging yet scream that they are not getting the information fast enough so they can have input on everything. Let me get this straight, Babb says, "let them (the admin) run the schools and don't interfere but, give me all the info and let me in on all the decisions because "I am the community"? She lost the election, did anyone tell her? Babb was micromanaging big time last night. Lets talk about a community member that lost it at a board meeting. Lisa Babb had two cameras pointed at the BOE and snarled her way through the meeting. Lisa Babb must be getting lonely. Only one person was sitting with her and the rest were anti Babb. Maybe she cried wolf too many times. Month #5 and the school is not falling apart, the students are better off and the community trusts the new BOE members. Mrs. Gregg and Mrs Ellis have even stopped coming to these BOE meetings. Maybe they know when to call it quits and let the election stand. Mrs. Babb is looking more like a woman scorned every day. No one comes to meetings because they trust what is being done and yet she keeps coming, filming, stalking to catch a BOE member doing something she can bash, yet nothing and people are seeing she is just an embarrassment to the teachers and pro levy group. After five months of Babberson "politics of personal destruction" played out in our school board meetings, finally, last night's meeting brought "comic relief" to common sense voters viewing the "vague and overwhelmed" board members Scott Anderson and Don Miller and the "audicity" of Lisa Babb and Tiffany Carlisle, still hoping to take out their political opponents! No doubt the closing performance of the drama queen's maney-acts! LOL!

No doubt the closing performance of the drama queen's maney-acts! LOL! lol...only 5 months? They have been trying to tear down Dr Kohls for nearly 3 years. I agree with the comic relief part. What I saw last night was a melt down of some sort by Babbs and Carlisle. Absent were a bunch of the usual NFSS/SEA supporting peanut gallery of Ellis, Gregg, Grigsby, Schrof, Christian, Colston, Trifiro, Villamanga, Hall, Ortels, amongst others. Mrs Babb and Tiff Tiff looked weak and and even more desperate in their rants of micromanaging and transparency. Yet their own micromanaging attempts of the BOE go unseen by themselves or their diminishing supporters. The hypocrisy of their rants is amaaaaaaazing. They are absolutely blind to the double standards they hold others to, while looking to stand, applaud and pat each other on the back for attacking others for doing a job the MAJORITY of the community elected them to do. What I found funny is even a big portion of the SEA teachers in attendance left before BabbsCarlise started their little show. I guess they are getting tired of reruns and sequeals. And where were all the students that spoke a few meetings ago...lost their motivation already? A few meetings ago there were a slew of them that were whipped into a frenzy by Babbs. Last meeting there were two (2). Last night there was zip zero zilch in attendance. It seemed to me that the meeting was more a "3:2" crowd than we have seen in the past. Common Sense winning...again?!?! And what is Babbs trying to accomplish with the twin video cameras...does she go back home after meetings and egobate to the replay? She even had the people to her right giggling at her silly antics. And her tiresome rant even had her pal, Mr Anderson, wondering what was up with her attitude. I mean it is obvious she is setting up for another run at the board next time around, but does she realize she actually lost the election? That is she isn't part of the board at this time...does she actually comprehend this? Or is her super self righteous attidude finally getting the better of her. Her constant over the top vocal desire to be part of something the voters denied her of has her looking more absurd than usual. Maybe it is time she quit listening to all the sycophants she has surrounded herself with in her self-admiration society and look at how many times the majority of this community has told her they disagree with her "ideas". JMHO...MOO. ;-)

@Pillar post... totally agree! Scott Anderson and his maneyacts have voiced their "opinions" against the facts of "children first budgeting" being chosen by voters in our school district for several years; all their blabbering has only reinforced support for Dr. Kohls effective leadership; which has now elected two new board members in support of children first budgeting. The SEA negative opinions toward children first budgeting cannot change the facts. Scott Anderson's disrespectful maney-acts toward Springboro students and Springboro citizens cannot change the facts that children first budgeting plan is the budget reform that is right for our school children and community. copied from recent article on NewsBlaze website: "Kohls' self-described "kids first" approach has caused a lot of heartburn among Springboro's school establishment. During her brief tenure on the board, district officials have publicly blamed Kohls for the defeat of a $6 million school levy, the departures of a superintendent, a district treasurer, a school board president and the large turnover in school administrators. Members of the Springboro Education Association - the local teachers union - use school board meetings to excoriate Kohls for opposing teacher pay raises and proposing budget cuts. "Some people get so entrenched in the old philosophy that it's tough to get them to think whether or not something is going to help the kids," Kohls says of the criticism. "We need a different way of thinking." Voters seem to agree. Last November, they elected two of Kohls' allies, giving fiscal conservatives control of the five-member school board, which began its current term in January.

No dog in the fight, I come here for the entertainment. This guy, Pillar, seems to take great joy in disecting this woman, Babble(?), did I get that right..strange name. Then there is this guy, Anderson, who has a fetish for chicken wings. Is all this true, or is this a pilot for another reality show?

The only thing I see, is him giving a "we are already great why change that", speech and the NFSS gals applauding him. Don Miller appeared to "wake up" at the board meeting only to argue with fellow board members that he was so "confused" about the dates of the next school board meeting! It was all pretty boring, but it appeared to some at the meeting that Don Miller was "pushing" hard for Scott Anderson to bang the gavel and proclaim to Lisa Babb (once again) "I'm calling a special meeting to hear your union first complaints against our budgeting plan for "children first." Most likely, the pre-arranged speaker (Jim Backus?)... was setting the stage for a "special called meeting" to intimidate and bully the "new board" with his request that "the board meet his demands to go ahead and extend each of the new contracts to each one of our administrative staff members!" (It's just too bad that we don't have those TV cameras turned back on; because this stuff is so funny that it's hard to present it to others throughout our community as a factual event!(and who is responsible for posting the minutes of these public school board meetings on the school website? There's nothing posted since February). But this time, community members were watching and Scott Anderson, Don Miller, and Lisa Babb had to settle for re-scheduling the regular board meeting on May 22 to May 24; thereby saving taxpayers the extra $650 that Lisa Babb's March 20th special meeting cost; BUT, failing to give Lisa Babb the "bully puplit" at a "special called" business meeting. It appears that's what Lisa Babb was so "snarly" and "emotional" about toward Scott Anderson, because she didn't get her "way" with the good old boys! And that's probably why Lisa Babb's supporter left the meeting early. The union insiders only show up at meetings to grandstand from the bully pulpit. Bless their little insecure fearful hearts! We just love them to death; but we'll never agree with their "status quo" agenda of keeping our kids left behind their union first agenda.

Who was Mr. Miller trying to scold? Mr Anderson for calling a meeting without consensus and because he got permission from Babb to spend the money for the special meeting or himself for not knowing anything about anything? So Babb says OK "spend the $650 when I want you to hold a special meeting but shame on you when you call a special meeting that I don't agree with". Someone please tell her she lost the election, but she is still amazzzzzing according to her facebook friends.

That may be your opinion; opinions can "ridicule" and sound silly, but opinions cannot change facts. Fact is, the new board will allow all the sports in our public schools that parents of the students who play sports can afford.
