I'm a little surprised at all the negative comments about the EdenPure Heater. I love my EdenPure. Several people in my family also own one. We all like them. I did buy the Amish heat surge and was disappointed in it. I cannot use both, 1 in bedroom & 1 in living room without tripping a breaker but as long as I just run one, its great. I love the fact that it is cool to the touch but really heats.

I experience a reality test Sunday. My friend with the miracle heater had a heat pump auxillary malfunction and was trying to heat with the miracle heater, a nichrome core heater and a Lasko radiator (all in the same room).

If you all could take the facts from the advertisements; the duct work in everybodies homes is inefficient. About 50% if what your paying for is lost due to the duct work heating up (for heat) or cooling down (for AC). Having the heating source present without all the hundreds of feet of duct to travel through will in fact save money. The concept of the way the heater works is pretty neat though is is an overpriced space heater. Going with the cheap Walmart heater would make more sense, who cares if you have to get another in 2 years, you could do that 5 or so times and won't incur the cost of the advertised heaters. Space heaters heat the space that they are in, making them more cost effective. Stay warm while spending the least amount for it is the name of the game people. Take care

I have taken thermodynamics for an engineering degree. The EdenPure heaters BTU rating is about the same as any 1/10 the price heater out there. BTUs are BTUs so you need more to actually have more heat. The EdenPure have the same quarts type tubes as the Walmart ones at 8x the price. There is a gimmick going on here. The "copper" cannot add more bonus heat, but the design might help the heat feel more even if it is set low also any electric heater will lower a fuel bill.

The bottom line is, you cannot get more output energy than the input energy so I am not convinced there is much advantage of owning an EdenPure other than perhaps a better safer built heater compared to the cheap China made ones. I have owned many cheap ones that have only lasted a few years and were not that safe.

I am not a Paul Harvey or any other type of celeb, just a normal guy. I purchased a similar model called Zen Living. Despite all of your, what sounded like angry anti EdenPure soapboxing I have to disagree with your response. I really wonder if you even tried the thing out and are speaking on your ideas or opinions about how "different heat" works. I don't think the heat is different, but the delivery system. Anyway, the one I bought indeed does heat a large area in a way that neither of the other two space heaters I have can do. They throw heat out directly at you if you sit or stand straight out in front of them. Eventually, and if the door to a room is closed, that room will heat up. I also suppose that any space heater, if left on long enough will heat a larger space, but I don't think I've ever enjoyed that experience. All that said, I turn on this Zen Living heater, and a while later the livingroom, my kitchen, the bathroom, and one bedroom I leave the door open to are all heated to the same temperature. My gas furnace does not turn on during the entire time the Zen is on. My gas use over the past two seasons is down considerably, and although, and obviously I might add, the electric use is up, but not to a degree where I am losing money. Instead, I am saving money on my utilities to the tune of about $25-50 per month depending upon the weather. So poo poo it all you want to. Sound as much like the expert as you want to, but understand, regardless of how it works - it works. It's that easy.

I tend to question your "degree" or your having taken a class or two, when you then say that ....."EdenPure have the same quarts type tubes....." considering someone with said degree would have enough smart to spell QUARTZ and say, The EdenPure have ..", rather than, The EdenPure has. I do think you are saying that maybe they are able to work, but your presentation leaves doubt.

These heaters a bunch of bologna. We purchased an Eden Pure and it promised 22,000 hours of service. We got 200 hours. This is such a ripoff and like everyone else; waiting for a class action suit or small claims court. Wanting me to ship back at my expense and this one to be replaced with a refurb. We have left 5 or 6 messages for management to call us back, they will not even return our call. Reading other blogs when customers receive a refurb. it only lasts a couple of months. Ripoff, Ripoff . I feel sorry for the poor Service Rep's who have to read a script to thousands and thousand's of irate customers . They are only doing their jobs and management doesn't have the courtesy to call a customer back. I will not return at my expense for a refurb and i will post my concern as many times as possible to get the message to other's not to buy this product.

For a simple comparison test try the Optimus Portable Oil-Filled Radiator Heater ($40 at WalMart)with a fan behind it set on low speed. The heater has settings of 600, 900 and 1500 watts. If it doesn't perform as well as the EdenPure take it back to WalMart. If it does perform as well start the anecdotal testimonies and save everyone some money and grief.

the only way this device can save money is if it uses pulse width modulation to reduce the effective power consumption of the 1500 watt heater. PWM (Pulse width modulation) is used in power electronic devices to reduce power draw but keep the system operating as if it was running at 1500 watts. For a heater, this would mean it doesn't heat up as fast nor does the temperature change as quickly.

For heating applications, residential, water etc. this would work just fine. Is this what is inside an Eden Pure heater? I don't know, but it would make sense to me, based on claims of lower heating bills. Would be interesting to see if there has been an independent review of this product.

I agree, power in must equal power out, there is no free lunch. There are losses with everything. I think they are using a switch mode electrical system to reduce power consumption while getting the unit up to temperature and to maintain that temperature.

That approach yields a more constant temperature output as does the heat sink of the copper or the oil in the radiators. There can be some power savings in that there would be less tendency to turn the thermostat higher to avoid the low end of the temperature swing. I am using the Aube thermostats with my liquid filled baseboard heaters, see http://www.mrsupply.com/aube-honeywell-line-v...

ok its been 2 months since my last report on my experance on the edenpure for those that did not read my earlier reports they start on about page 17, I am very pleased with the result. No it didnt reduce my heat bill to 0 and I knew it would not!!!! also this has been a mild winter . but my heat bill was 53% lower than last year . I asked people around me if the would figure the % of reduction in there heat bill and they came up with an average of 26% so it seems as tho I saved 27%. the heater performed flawlessly . it kept the house comfortable . I did have a "mica" type heater set up in the family room also ( home is aprox. 80' long and that is the furthest point from where I had the edenpure set up at . Well with early spring time I have shut them off completly now . so this will be the end of this litle test
In conclution let me say that the edenpure did good it payed for itself . I dont have all the fancy answers that some posters have put on here both pro and com
n. just like to say the bottom line is IT WORKED saved me money dont know how and to be honest dont care

My dad has a 1986 14x65 trailer and he heats his whole trailer with an edenpure electric heater, his furnace is totally shut off and unhooked and he just has this heater sitting in his living room as his main source of heat and it works good cuz ive been to his trailer and seen it. So it does work good in some circumstances.

People who babble and prattle about these so-called "Amish Heaters" are simply mad because they can't suck on Amish peters.

5000 watts for one hour = 5KWH.

Get out your electric bill. Write down the total amount of your bill and also write down the number of KWH used.

Do NOT use the "cost per khw" on your bill - it is a lie as it excludes all the "fees" and "charges" which make up the total amount you are being charged for.

Divide the cost by the number of KWH used. The result is how much you pay for each KWH.

For example: The total amount of your electric bill is $153.78 and you used 932 KWH.

153.78 divided by 932 = 16.5 cents per KWH

So to operate a heater which uses 5000 watts per hour / 5 KWH means that it costs you (16.5 cents times 5)$0.82 per hour to operate it.
