A testament to the building green movement. Dense urban planning will always score more green points than suburban sprawl. See what happens when you try to force a concept down the throat of a market without much logical sense.

What,

No one wants to live in the Sawgrass Mills Mall parking lot? I thought people would be climbing over themselves.

Congrats to the corrupt dirtbags in Sunrise, well done. Why would high rises that far from the ocean make sense?

Sunrise politicians, almost as dumb as Davie

"Just a few years ago, Sunrise officials boasted Tao would pave the way for an emerging skyline that would one day rival the towering high-rises to the east. Now they acknowledge that won't happen any time soon."

IT PAVED THE WAY FOR THE NATURAL BEAUTY AND SKYLINE OF THE EVERGLADES.
THIS IS AN ALBATROS AND IT SHOULD BE TORN DOWN!!!

I think this is a good idea I see the the sawgrass area as the new downtown we need more urban growth. Only wack Floridians wouldn't want to see change, their so backwards.

LOL-- I drive by these things regularly on the way to my mother's house and man, are they an eye sore. My wife and I having been wondering when they would open. LOL.

And then there's Artesia just across the way-- half started and still incomplete all these years later. I remember when they "offered" a once in a lifetime "chance" at their 2/2 condos for $399k. Today people are dumping them at $199k. And that's STILL too high. LOL.

looks like it will end up another section 8

another building along with all the empty commercial developments empty strip and office plazas

anyone in their right might would not choose don't move here to S.Florida. At one time it was the most wonderful place to be and now it is nothing but a hell hole and we are all trying to get out and stuck at the moment.

"There are going to be others," Broward County Commissioner Josephus Eggelletion said. "We're no longer the sleepy county we were 40 years ago. You'll have periods where growth slows down. But you'll never have a time when it stops. As the cliche goes, this too shall pass."

I am always amazed at how some look forward to expressing their stupidity as publicly as possible.

Did you vote for Josephus? Yes?

Stupid is as stupid does.

Turn it in to a prison. Also, local police can use the upper floors to monitor the sawgrass parking lots for car jackings. The whole thing is a disgrace. Good thing we have such a visionary as Rodstrom to let us know that everything will eventually be ok. What a jerk.

"No one wants to live in the Sawgrass Mills Mall parking lot? I thought people would be climbing over themselves."

Take a look at "The Landmark" in Palm Beach Gardens, built on exactly the same idea (that, for some reason, people want to live in a mall parking lot).

These condos are probably going to go section 8, there's 0 demand for something like this way out in Sunrise, the location stinks (mall parking lot), and there's simply NO reason to be in a condo out there, there's TONS of land to build/buy a nice SFH (for less then these condos are selling for).

Without the requisite occupancy, the HOA fees will go through the roof, push more owners out. Eventually, the building will be mostly owned by the banks, and at some point, will probably be pushed into a project (sec 8) or just torn down.

Who thought it was a good idea to build up in Sunrise; a place where there is LAND as far as the eye can see? And, if you're going to build up, WHY oh WHY did you start the bottom of your building in the mall parking lot?

This and The Landmark are probably 2 of the worst located condo buildings put up during the boom. Is there any demand at ANY price? Maybe... Although, honestly, I'm not sure, that price might have to be effectively free (section 8) before someone really wants to move there.

Irresponsible Broward County Commissioners, the City of Sunrise Council, former City Manager Pat Salerno, and now Judge Steve Feren who approved Tao from the start...too bad Mayor Roger Wishner and Comm. Lois Wexler weren't serving in their respective seats at the time of the vote....
Greedy developers at its best...love to see the money trail on the development.....the units aren't only empty, but rumor has it there are structural problems! So even when the economy turns around "buyer beware!"

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Gemini

It's a busy day and you've got quite enough to do without having to cope with people clamoring for your attention and likely to go into a huff if they don't get it. Is this person feeling neglected because you're busily occupied elsewhere or are there other reasons for their demanding mood? Simply giving them a big hug could make all the difference to their behavior.
