Who is next? Cohen? Shimun? Hyman?

This happens in Deerfield all the time, especially at the Fire Department. How come that doesn't make the paper?

With all of the terminations, turmoil, and events happening at the Town, Town Council wont have to worry about enacting a hiring freeze ... no one will want to come to work at the Town. Would you want to work at a place akin to a snake pit????

How come this forum is defaulted to the davie forum and not the main forum. It comes from a Sun Sentinel article so shouldn't it default to the main forum?

I work for another municipality and it's pretty obvious where I'd never apply for a position....The "Town" of Davie. Does the inexperienced "Town" Administrator have another Fire Chief lined up? Does this "Town" Administrator know the first thing about being a Fire Chief? I'm sure the answer is "NO!". With that said, how can he fire someone when he has no clue what that position does? Just because he disagrees with this person?

Come on, get a life you experienced puppet. The Town Council strings must be tied to you pretty tight. All they have to say is jump and you start doing the cha cha dance. I hear there is a fire sale on backbones in Fort Lauderdale too. But it looks like you've already sold yours, if you ever had one at all.

Davie is a joke! The city commision blows, the PD is corrupt and their fire department is ineffecient.

Guess you were not aware of all the overtime these salaried employees put in for during the hurricane when they were "salaried" employees therefore defrauding FEMA.

Know your stuff before you comment on the inexperienced town administrator who by the way isn't so inexperienced.

And "without cause" keeps them from suing. If you give a reason they may be able to find a way to sue.

The Fire Department has gone down
hill since that administration began.
It is time to hire people deserving
of the positions instead of bringing in a Fire Chief who brings in friends from Fort Lauderdale and promoting them to senior positions.

Actually our police dept is pretty top notch. Never had a problem with our cops being at the scene within minutes of a call. I have to say I am very proud of our police department from the bottom to the top.

DePetrillo deserves the dismissal. Gross mismanagement of the fire department budget, bringing in his has-been buddies from Ft Lauderdale FD was inexcusable. As a result the department took six steps backwards. Hopefully Shimun will toss their butts out as well. Anyone who believes the department won't run without these guys is clueless.

Yes Starkey it's hurricane season. Have a little faith in your fire department. The men and women of the department will handle any situation just fine without DP at the helm. Probably more efficiently since they won't be spending all their time trying to figure out how to rip off FEMA.

To the town council, let Shimun do his job. You won't lose any votes, you didn't fire them. You'll probably take credit for it six months down the road when it's revealed just how badly the fire department and it's budget were managed after all.

Continue the house cleaning Mr. Shimun.Now lets look at his cronies he brought in with him FF on probation from Tamarac who is now Assistant Chief, Or Eggnatz best friend and old chief from Oakland parks Son who is now Administrative manager who does nothing when we have a complete IT dept in Davie or All his other buddies from Ft Lauderdale Battalion Chiefs? and Fire marshal and Support Manager there?s all you tax cuts Bet we could reduce your taxes by a bunch. Send all there buddies packing Kaletka for Chief . Could go county as all the upper end are a waste of money

I would not cry for these "firemen"-they have huge pensions coming their way and will be fine. No one has a right to indefinite employment as a top administrator, not even when their jobs are labeled as firemen.

Good for him. Holding government paid hacks to a higher standard isn't usually done around South Florida.
It's seeems that once you're in, you're in for life. Most of these people could not make it in the private industry and they prefer the government dole to make it through life.

It ia about time. One more gone and you have completed your job. That would be the HR Dir. The PD is fine and so is PW. The sad thing is, GS was used and he too will be soon gone. What a shame. He and KC are the 2 best things ever to hit this place. I pray you two are around a long time. Hey GS take a long look at the PD, if you do anything (I HOPE NOT) look from within, there are some GREAT people there. Like I hop you do with the FD..
