lab rat.. you are the BIGGEST idiot ever. seriously, FK YOU. they didnt let their horses out dumbass. the guy was cloasing the gate and the horses RAN through the gate. TWO of them. there is no way he could have stopped them. and um.. when your horse is galloping down into a major road.. you dont have time to run in the house.. grab your keys... and hten get in the car. nice try bud. the fastest way is to get on the closest mode of transportation. which at the moment was another horse. you are an idiot. the lady had TONS of time to brake and she didnt. she SWERVED and hit TWO horses instead of one. she had FOUR blocks to stop. the horses were going HEAD on towards her. fking idiot.
Dear Haley,
You, my friend, are what I refer to as a crazy horse person. If the stupid man didn't let the horses out, how did they get out? If the stupid horses ran into the road where cars are, they deserve to be put down.

The jackass with the horses was irresponsible and put the public in danger by not controlling the dumb horses. HE is the one that killed that horse, not the poor woman driving down the road (where cars belong, not horses) minding her own business.

People like him don't deserve to own horses because they are irresponsible and put people's lives in danger. PROVEN FACT!

PS: I edited the obsenities out of your post, you filthy disgusting horse person.

i dont know why some people would want to sue the owner!!
i mean thinks happen, sure the horses should not have been out but i bet the owner was not all like hey horses lets take a strolling the middle of the street!!
the owner is most likely heart broken over the loss
(i would if my horse was killed)
people need to know that accidents happen, and sometimes we just need to stop pointing fingers, no matter how mad we might be!!

Sure, and next time you have your car damaged in an auto accident, don't try to get the person responsible to pay for it, just pay for it out of your own pocket. Even if you were sitting parked without a key in the ignition.

The man was negligent by letting the dumb horses out of the gate. He was responsible.

Road = car

If the woman was driving her car around in the man's yard and hit the horse, she'd be at fault.

Lab-rat, shut up! Why the hell would you think it's always the horse owner's fault! Sometimes it's a freaking asshole who opens a freaking gate and shoots a gun at the horse to scare them out on the road! How the hell would I know that? Because someone did that to me! They let 10 of my 14 horses out! The horses got so spooked they ran like all hell broke loose right on the road! 3 were literally sliced open by a semi truck, 1 had a huge gaping hole in it's side, and one's leg was torn off!
So lab-rat, it's not always our damn fault that horses get loose. So stop weaving the handbasket we're going to hell in.

Here's something for you to ponder,(this article is over a year old now).
I love horses all my life. From the time I was a little girl, I had to be around them. When I wasn't, I had them around me in figurines, etc.).
Then, when I was in my early 20s, one rainy early morning en route to work, a horse escaped its corral and ran across the road in front of me.
I had no idea what I had hit.
I had been going the speed limit,(30 mph). Now, I was stopped on the road.
My car was mangled. The windshield was gone. The roof was pointed up. The hood was caved in.
There was blood and horse hair everywhere.
My nose was broken and there was glass in my face. It was cool out, so I was wearing a heavy coat. Glass was imbedded in my one hand.
I refused the ambulance. In shock, I just wanted to be near the horse, who was alive laying next to the road. He only had a small round wound on his face, but he couldn't get up.
I want to tell you that I needed surgery to repair my hand, but what happened to me psychologically was far worse than the bruising, stitches and soreness.
I didn't renew my drivers license when it expired. I didn't drive anymore. I no longer "trusted" anyone at a cross street to stop at the light or stop sign. I am not talking regular caution. I am talking flashbacks.
I didn't go near a horse again for 26 years. I couldn't deal with the fact that the one thing I'd focused on in my life meant flashbacks to that awful morning.
I AM a horse owner now. Yes, big strides.
But, anyone who calls a motorist who hits a horse names or blames them is ignorant. They have no idea what that driver went through suddenly seeing an animal charging across the road in front of them.. or like me, hearing the metal of my car break and the dashboard come apart and not know what was going on.
Accidents DO happen. But, they can have catastrophic consequences to someone's life...
I will never forget the horse I hit that morning or the grief that I carried for a very long time.

Ok, went there and didn't tell the rest. The horse lay out there for a few hours before the veterinarian came out and put it down.
I was in the hospital that day having surgery on my hand and under observation.

Are you a crazy horse person? You sound like one.
First, there is nothing in the article about the car speeding.
Second, the car was where it belonged, the horse wasn't.
Third, the real problem with this country isn't the people that sue, it's jerks like your friend and the way you think NOT TAKING PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS.
The stupid horse was out in the road and out of control. The stupid owners were chasing it to keep it from getting hit? Wow, they must be rocket surgeons because we all know how that ended up.
If your dopey horse hit my car, you can bet that I'd be looking to you to pay. Horses belong on a person's property, not running free in the streets.
Your friend was irresponsible, and it's a shame an animal had to pay with its life.
LabRat, you obviously dont know anything about horses, so you shouldnt be freaking talking.Ive been riding for 8 years, and horses do have the right of way, and Im sorry a person cant fully just say "horse, stop" because it wont work. Its an animal, and a very large one too, and not even hitting the break? are you kidding me? Wow, well, again, labrat, you dont know anything about horses, so shut your mouth, thanks for being so naive and heartless.

You have anger issues and need to get some help. Horses are NOT stupid animals and it looks like you have issues with horses to even be commenting about them. Stupid are people like you talking trash about the horses. Horses are prey animals and their natural instinct is to run. That doesn't make them stupid. STOP talking trash about the poor horses and go get a life dude...
