I actully drove past and saw that the horse was in dire need of being put out of its misery. The poor animal was not even able to get up on his from legs and was struggling to do such. Being raised on a farm, I feel that the time it took SW Ranches to respond and the owner notified was probably even too long to let that poor animal suffer. First of all someone was chasing these horses on horseback. That is not how you catch a horse in the city. This is not a rural area where you can do that. You approach a horse calmly with either treads or a pad or two of hay and they'll come right to you. I really don't understand why this person was "chasing" these horses. That's insane.

Know the facts before you comment on an issue that really affects people's lives. We knew the owner and these horses. Do you have animals, children, a life? Suppose you never lost control of something? These people were trying to chase the horses out of the way of road for this exact thing to be avoided. The owner of the car should be sued. Her vehicle was the epidemy of driving too fast. If going the speed limit, the extent of the damage to her car would not have been such. Furthermore, the horse would more than likely survived. This violent & tragic accident was just that--AN ACCIDENT! This is why they are named so. If that is so difficult for you to understand, think of the love many people had for this animal, grandchildren sho had to be told she was destroyed. And yet we spare the "poor woman" that should have been aware of her surroundings up ahead and slowed down from her road-race the despair of calling her a MURDERER! She should be sued, if a person was on this horse this whole discussion would have gone a different direction. For the love of all creatures, you should be commenting on another site.
