This isn't rocket science. SW Ranches is not a safe place for pedestians, cyclists, horses... They choose to live this way, so they can't be too upset when the inevitable happens. Kids get out of school...they're all over the streets. It's dangerous. Check out the intersection where Hawkes Bluff is. It's really bad. They're just freely wandering across the streets - and not at the crossing guard, either. People are scurrying all over the place in all directions. Kids who walk or ride their bikes to school - they're on the streets. It's just not smart. Horses are on the streets, on the grass, crossing major intersections. Times have changed. It's great that there is a rural feel, where people can actually still have a yard in times where our government has sided with the builders and decided for us that we don't need to have yards or lives, for that matter. Chaos! But what this comes down to is that SW Ranches is not a safe place to walk or ride bikes and horses. It's just not. They haven't set it up to be.

iam speaking on the be half of a friend i lost ... and it hard to say hes gone i would always sit with a group of about 4 people including me and him and we wouls talk about the craziest stupiest things alive and to hear people say bike shoulent be on roads then you should shut the helll uppp watch somthiong happien to one of your family memebers and you wont have any thing to say but blame the driver huh sooo just open your heart and dont blame but pray for what could and what has happien to this ppor kid and my dear friend rip richardd <3

exactly. sidewalks are to be WALKED on dimwit. those idiots BETTER stay in the road. there, they pose no harm to me when i'm in a car. on a sidewalk, not so. i NEVER give an inch to a bicycle rider on a sidwalk. i challenge them to run into me as i walk broadly in the middle of the WALK way. usually they think i'll move, then they veer away. one hit a tree. 2 funny!

not that i LIKE them in the road, but that's better for me than a sidewalk.

i think for the best interests of everyone involved bicycle riding should be STRICTLY FORBIDDED in Florida. look at all the pests we have. smokers destroyed our beaches (that fight was lost long ago, the beach is NOTHING but a litter dump). dogs crap all over and are disgusting (this has been a constant battle, the best we could do is give them little parks so they could all walk around drooling and barking and defecating in one little area). we have these bicycle riding morons who block traffic on the weekends ... in a manner TOTALLY against the interests of the vast majority.

fat, middle aged motor cycle clowns in need of some prozac and some levitra, driving down US 1 and the avenues each weekend with those rabid women. fishermen are ok i guess but they leave fish guts EVERYWHERE.

i think we covered most of the main offenders.

It's not like someone suffering a stroke or heart attack has the option of walking or riding a bike to the first responders. remember that person hit by the suv has a mother and father somewhere, how do you think they will feel when they get the news. Someone, Somebody loved that person. it is also a tragedy for the driver of the suv because that person has to live with that the rest of their life. THIS IS NOTHING TO LAUGH AT AND NEVER SAY IT WILL NOT HAPPEN TO YOU! BECAUSE IT CAN!
